The soundtrack from the movie "Heavy Metal"

Peter Green never played a superfluous note. Every note he played was important, and he often did as much with the space between the notes as he did with the notes themselves.

He inspired many many guitarists.

It's too bad he went over the deep end with drugs, because he was an amazing musician.
He also suffered from mental health issues, hence the addictions.

Something a little different. Listening to but also watching one of my two favorite episodes of Star Trek "Enterprise." My absolute favorite would be "Similitude," a very poignant tome, also the favorite of actor John Billingsley, who played Dr. Phlox.

But my close second would be "Carbon Creek" (season 2, episode 2), which is what I'm watching again tonight. Not really a time-travel episode, but merely an "old story you never knew," type episode. A throwback story, and one well conceived.

Given that my model railroading interests are also of the throwback variety, probably not that much of a surprise.

-------

As far as favorite series (a question that also comes up when discussing Star Trek), mine would actually be "Voyager."

And as I've said before, here and elsewhere, "I can tell you why Voyager is my favorite in just three words. And two of them are numbers...."

Sis is a lawyer (and a good one). I'm always telling her to run for mayor, and on the platform that she will ban all leaf blowers within the city limits, particularly the gas powered ones. All they do is make it easier for the guys herding the leaves to herd the leaves, and at the expense of ruining the morning or afternoon (the "Wa" I believe it is--the harmony--in Japanese) for everyone else within earshot.

We still have tools to do this. They are called "Rakes," and they are quiet...and about as fast.

"If you do just that, and only that, you'll win."

But she doesn't want to be mayor.

Sigh.

"Soul Train" (Don Cornelius) promoted a good many artists and acts that might otherwise never have made it to the big stage.

He did good.

"American Bandstand" had a wider audience, certainly, but both together worked together too.

And aren't we all better for it?

And now the same song twice. First the original: "Am I the Same Girl," by Barbara Acklin.

And then the tribute:

Barbara would have benefited from the recording and mixing capabilities of the later eras, and it's a shame she didn't have them at her disposal.
As with others...talent lost to the ages.

But we all live in our own time too, I guess.

THIS one popped up in my Youtube feed, but I'm not a bit surprised. It's on the short list of my favorites anyway:

A lot of people know this as the "Cathay Pacific" airline theme song...and it's that too...but it was originally just Barry White.

I was an amatuer astronomer in those days, and I was searching for--the same week--that same ^^^ song
that hit the top ten while I was also searching for "The Garnet Star," Mu Cephei in the constellation Cepheus. Found it abo
about the same time I heard this song...and so for me this will always be...too...the Garnet Star Song, and not just the Love Song.

And so, many many years later I bought garnet earrings for my then significant girl. She was disappointed...clearly...because she had wanted diamonds.

Diamonds would have cost me perhaps a third as much as the garnets. Oh well...I learned a lesson or two about precious stones...and girlfriends both.

In the end I didn't ask her to marry me, and I'm better for it. It didn't cost me all that much either to learn the hard lessons.
