i was at a friends layout where we have op sessions & there was about 7 of us last nite & a friend jeremy comes in with a polished wooden case
& he pulled out this
, it was sweettt turns out jeremy's dad bought it for him for xmas & it was the first time he could run it
 
he has said since it came out he was going to get 1 but it would have taken years to do so, & his mom passed so the dad bought it for him behind his back, NOW THATS A GREAT DAD LOL :cool:

Great looking locomotive, and nice story to go with it !

While ive never had the interest or understanding of brass models, they sure do look nice and i admire the people willing to shell out the money to pay for them, it really shows their dedication to the hobby and their desire to have the best.

With that being said, if you drunkbid on one of those Blackz28, were taking away your ebay account, no ifs, ands, or buts :D
 
its put out by PRESISION CRAFT dont know if its brass or not ,have to check it out but yea no way 3k is crazy:eek::eek:
 
awesome...I bet he was excited to get it on the rails. I see some of those brass models... and they sure are attractive...and I am not really a fan of steamers.

PSC is one of the most expensive importers out there, but unlike a couple of others, their stuff is worth it. The price of new brass is going to be going up even more. I think many of the new brass announced by PSC in O scale is over 6 grand in price.

I can remember when an O scale US Hobbies L&N Berkshire was just $500. Now if that loco was released today, it would be at or near that price.

Yeah a huge amount of the Gibson collection ended up in my basement :rolleyes: plus what I've picked up from Caboose in Denver and e-Bay over the years. But I have a killer SP steam roster, plus a few Santa Fe locos, and one orphan UP 2-8-0, one orphan Southern Ps-4, oh yes, and one orphan Missouri Pacific 2-8-2! I've finally stopped except for a few special passenger cars that will probably never be done in plastic.
 
Too rich for my blood, and my radii are too tight for something that big. Most expensive brass model I ever bought was a Burlington Zephyr "Silver King" (A) and "Silver Queen" (B) units. They are both nickel plated. Paid about $1,200 for the pair. They will run on my 20" ruling radius trackage. For steam, I'll stick with my kitbashed Mantua 2-10-2's, 2-10-4's, with Canon coreless motors and gearboxes inside. No sound...yet...but they do run nice! Now, if I came up with a "Q" E5 that ran smoothly and would negotiate the curves...

I forgot about that!:D What are you willing to part with the Ps-4 for. I have two, but I know someone that may want it....like me but don't tell Pam!!!;)

I've pretty much stopped as well. My goal was to obtain at least one of every class of SRR steam engine made in brass. Right now I have done this except for the PSC versions of the 4-6-2 Ps-4's, and the 2-8-2 Ms-4's. I have the PFM versions of these. That leaves me with only the 2-8-8-2 Ls-1's and Ls-2's that PSC offered. But with their price pushing $2000, I have to pass unless someone dies and leaves me their millions!;)

Heh Heh Heh...You can't have it:p

It's a 1960 or so run United. It's in peices and has been painted but is all messed up. He painted it with the original Scalecoat, then couldn't strip it. My blasting booth did that just fine. I have the paint & decals and intend to do it for myself. It has his name engraved on the bottom cover plate, and the year he bought it...1960! So it has some sentimental value. I also have his copy of Prince's SRR book. Would you believe it's a signed copy?

I sure do miss him!

My goal was one model of every SP steamer that was in service from 1946-1956. I did get that done except for...the Precision Scale 2-8-8-2 and the B-1 2-8-4. The 2-8-4 doesn't count...it's not an SP engine, and like you, I can't afford the $2,000.00 for the PSC 2-8-8-2. It's a great model and worth the money, my pockets just aren't that deep! Don't feel like the Lone Ranger :D;)
