Show us your Train Stations

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Here is a shot of the station I'm just finishing. It's a BearFlagModels, laser cut, paperboard model of the FEC Mayport station. I don't know if BearFlag is still selling or not - I bought this kit a couple years ago at one of the Florida shows. Its amazing what the camera shows that I can't see - even with magnifiers :] Got a little curl in the roof line :[

jon how long did it take you to shingle the roof and i agree the curl means nothing if anything it makes it more realistic because nothing is ever perfect except for digitrax lol

If they don't send you one try to dig up the latest flier from Micro-Mark. (Late Winter 2010) It has a model of the NJ Hoboken Station in HO scratch built by a one Tom Griffiths. Unbelievable! Their showing off what you can make with their casting products, well maybe Tom can but I'm not sure about the rest of us. Check it out!

Hi All

A few pictures of work in progress on my station, pretty much all scratchbuilt (including the track)

Overviews of the Northern end taken last July

On the end of Platform 1 there is the remains of one of the original buildings from the first station. In my era used as training rooms but now, alas abandoned

On the other side of the station (but the same end) is the signalling complex - this is my model of it! (with just a tiny bit of photoshopery on the last picture.

Awesome! Very realistic especially the signalling complex. It's rare to see modern structures made from scratch that don't look like plastic-like kits. Nice work.

I would love to see "Grizzly Flats Depot" Scale Structures Limited Kit #1147, an 1880's period replica. I have the box on my desk and it is my next project.

Thank you,

Jim, the photos looks just awesome. very realistic!
at first i thought some of them are pic's of the 'real' world:D

just a question, how did you make the lightning tower? is it a photo-etch?

Thanks Guys

Express models do a lighting gantry but alas the top platform is square while the one at New Street is round. I was able to source the etched bits that Express Models use and set about scratchbuilding the platform. I used a 10 pence piece to assist me file the platform out of 20 thou NS. This was then overlaid with planking and the rest built up from various metal sections from my scrap box. As the layout is set in the day I didn't need the lights to work!
