Mythbusters covered it years ago. Don't get your powder wet.

So muzzle loaders won't once the powder is wet. You might have a second or two if using a percussion cap.

The fun thing is how high speed rounds function. John Wick 3 Parabellum got it right. Wick grapples an assassin and falls into a spa's hot tub. The other assassin tries to shoot Wick under water.

The rounds fire, but slow down real fast - Wick backed away until the guy's mag was empty, then moved in and shot the guy point blank while he was reloading.

What I did not expect was the pressure that he was feeling on his hands and the high-powered rifles breaking. He stopped firing a bigger guns himself. He started using this sling. i’m not sure if the bad guys could be firing their weapons underwater like that. unless of course they were taking Michael’s Jell-O shots. :)

More like food withdrawals. This is what I had for lunch yesterday. I only ate about 1/3 of the rice.
IMG_0004.jpeg

That’s a piece of mackerel with some grated radish and some pickled vegetables. The pink thing is a jelly that I don’t eat and in the cup with some tea. I would like a large salad on the side. I would have starved until dinner, but I had one dorayaki left in the refrigerator. Dorayaki is a small sweet pancake sandwich with black beans.
Pretty sparse compared to the food that I see in the cardiac care wing.

The menu that they gave me shows that that meal was 644 kcal, which is higher than the other meals for lunch. It looks like they’re trying to maintain 1800 kcal per day. But that’s if you eat all the rice too, which I don’t.

Edit: I just checked the Mayo Clinic website and 1700 kcal is enough for me. Which I can’t believe by the way..

Good evening gang!

Just got done pricing a large case of assorted rolling stock for the upcoming GMTS show in Timonium on October 31 and Nov 1. That makes 6 cases of stuff, ready to go. Probably a 7th case once I'm done, but that will be later this week.
Now to relax with some Twisted Tea and some Jefferson Starship. I've already gotten through Freedom at Point Zero, now I'm drifting into a little more of the older stuff.
Oh Grace, I'll never get over my teenage crush on you! Maybe I'll finish the night with a little White Rabbit?
But 1st, we gotta Ride the Tiger!

Nope, no illicit drug references in the 70s, no way!

G'nite y'all

Just got finished with the doctor and she said everything looks good and I’m on schedule to leave the hospital on either Friday afternoon or Saturday. It’ll be good to grab a shower. I asked her if I had any weight restrictions and she said 5 kg for one month. I also asked if I had any time requirements for my next sedation since I need to schedule a colonoscopy soon. She said no restrictions.

My wife was planning to come out today but the weather guessers are saying rain all day, so I told her stay home because the ground is soaked and may still have landslides. I don’t want her to get stuck anywhere. If all is good, she will come out tomorrow and take some of my stuff back home to lessen the weight of my suitcase. We could always drop the suitcase off at the convenience store and have them ship it back for us.

Looking forward to getting out of here.

So while I’ve been sitting here, I’ve been looking for sales, which is a dangerous thing. Rails of Sheffield has a sale on a model that I was not going to buy, but has caught my interest again. It says that it needs to be ordered so I sent an email to rails asking when it would be become available again they responded with a general answer soon. Well, I got an email this morning that said they were back in stock again. So I put it in my shopping cart and was ready to pay for it, but I don’t remember my credit card number and I left all that stuff at home so that the hospital couldn’t steal it from me . So when I get out of here, that’ll be the next item heading my way.

I have to admit I like Soy Sauce.
I love Soy Sauce; it is a staple in our house. I love stir fry and the thought of having stir fry without soy sauce is unimaginable.

After trying many different brands, we settled on La Choy as our go to. Like many other things it is probably tailored to suit American tastes. I tried one from a Japanese store on the west side Baltimore. It was too strong to our liking. And the lady said we would probably like it as it is one of the milder varieties.

How soy sauce is made is fascinating.

Don't worry about how you pee, thank God you can!

Thinking of Japan; am I the only one following the story of the two Japanese rookies looking to set a new record for homeruns by a Japanese MLB rookie? I have not seen a story from the national press, WTF! On the other hand, i may have missed it. I ignore all the press, sports and otherwise, but even I can't avoid headlines.

Munetaka Murakami "Moon-Shot" - just like he hits them.

Kazuma Okamoto "Kazzy" - just easier for me.

Both currently have 33 homeruns. The record was 22, held by Shohei Ohtani "the Robot" - the man must be a machine!

Two players straight out of Japanese pro-ball little adjustments needed, they are legit! Proving Japan's pitching is on par or at least close to MLB. How cool is that? Too cool if you ask me! I can't say their names, and I really don't care. I love watching these guys play. They make MLB even better, that i do care about.

Baseball and nicknames go hand in hand.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with peepers again.

It's Troy

Not much going on. It's currently 58 F-degrees with an expected high of 16 C-degrees.

(I'm trying to wrap my brain around Celsius)

Today is laundry day, and parking lot striping. They're doing half the the parking areas today, and half tomorrow. We hope. According to the weather guessers, there's a 25% chance of Rain. Not sure what the Parking Lot stripers are guessing their success is.

As for the snowflake questions. The "do you feel safe at home?"
How many people are in abusive relationships and can't speak out. That question can be used if the abuser isn't watching them.

Here's some other signals to be aware of:

The primary distress signal for domestic abuse is the "Signal for Help," a one-handed gesture where a person tucks their thumb into their palm and closes their fingers over it, trapping the thumb. Created by the Canadian Women’s Foundation in 2020, this nonverbal cue is designed to be used discreetly during video calls or in person to indicate that the individual needs someone to check in with them safely, without alerting an abuser.

Other recognized distress signals include:

  • The Black Dot Signal: Drawing a small black dot on the palm to signal abuse, though this method has been criticized for potentially increasing risk if the abuser is aware of the campaign.
  • Angel Shot: Ordering an "angel shot" at a bar, where specific preparations (e.g., "neat" for an escort, "with lime" for police) alert staff to help.
  • Coded 911 Calls: Calling emergency services and asking to "order a pizza" to share an address without raising suspicion, allowing dispatchers to verify danger through yes/no questions.
When responding to the Signal for Help, it is critical to not respond during the video call if an abuser might be watching. Instead, reach out via text, email, or social media and ask simple "yes" or "no" questions to determine if the person wants you to call authorities, contact a shelter, or simply check in. The signal does not automatically mean "call 911"; it signifies a request for safe, discreet support.

Well, howdy there all you internet 🤡 like me

Again.

I'm breaking my post up into smaller chunks in case the forum times out on it's approval of me being a human clown instead of an AI.

I really, really regret sell off my CD collection when we moved to LA 12 years ago. Sold the turntable and the CD player as well. Gave my old beat up vinyl collection to a friend who collets. I can go listen to them when ever I'm in Indy, so they'll stay there.

But I want to be able to put five disks in the changer, and just listen while I write or work on hobby stuff. I don't mind streaming music, but sometimes, I want my own. Even if I do hit "Shuffle"

So I ordered this:

Screenshot 2026-09-23 at 5.45.40 AM.png

I've got a low end Denon AVR-SV570BT 5.1 receiver. According to Claude, the DAC in the Onkyo has better specs than the one in the Denon, so I'll just use the RCA cables and let the disk changer do the conversion.

Frankly, this mid-level set up is about all my ears can manage

Now I need to get the sciatica treated so I can stand long enough to haunt the used CD stores and start rebuilding the library.

What disks are your Must Haves? In Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Smooth Jazz, and Showtunes.

And I just got an error message building this post. So, copy, refresh the page, and try again.

Fixed the repeat. Here's some FRANK to make up for it

Good morning gang!

54° and cloudy, rain likely in the next hour. I’m only looking for a high temp today of 64°. Blah!

Troy, you seem to be repeating yourself this morning. You do know that’s one of the classic signs of early onset Alzheimer’s, right? Or maybe that’s just the side effect of an MRI.

Well, time for me to get on with this hump day. Crack the whip on the camel and go!

Good morning all!

Happy Hump Day!

Our fall weather continues again today. Currently its 56F. High will reach 65F under partly sunny skies. No rain in the forecast.

Usual stuff around the house this morning. No games or nothing like that tonight. Should be a fairly straight forward day.

Have a safe say everyone!
