There seems to be something going on, and I'm not really sure if it's limited to the model railroading world, or just coincidence.

While brand new trains seem to suffer skyrocketing prices, many older trains seem to be doing the opposite. I just bought 4 older kato F units for $100, shipped.
Also a pair of Scale Trains new-in-box GP30s for $80 each, and 15 Kato/Athearn/BLI diesels for $225 plus $20 shipping. Everything is supposed to run.
Of course, a brand new Bachmann SD40-2 with sound is $400 plus shipping...

I kind of went down that rabbit hole while trying to find parts for my SD9. A new one of which is rapidly approaching $300 for a comparable model. This is in N scale, if anybody has forgotten.

More like food withdrawals. This is what I had for lunch yesterday. I only ate about 1/3 of the rice.

That’s a piece of mackerel with some grated radish and some pickled vegetables. The pink thing is a jelly that I don’t eat and in the cup with some tea. I would like a large salad on the side. I would have starved until dinner, but I had one dorayaki left in the refrigerator. Dorayaki is a small sweet pancake sandwich with black beans.

I think I’m losing weight here, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

As for trains, I’m getting my fix by watching the sales.
I'm not a big mackerel fan. The rest would have been OK if I was hungry.

Remember, Kusojiji -- you married this! I remind myself of that when non-normal* food is presented to me at home or when we go to Japan.

* I have a MentorPilot episode playing on my phone as I type this.

It’s not the food it’s just the amount. So far, everything has been good here at the hospital with the only meal that I didn’t like was on Sunday when they serve something that I don’t like to eat even at home.

Am I the only one that calls it "sewer sauce"?
I have to admit I like Soy Sauce.

I made some mashed potatoes on Sunday for a roast I had made and I put a spoon of Soy Sauce in to the potatoes. You don't taste it (so little compared to the mass of potatoes) but it adds a little umami taste. It's actually a small dab of miso I normally use (based on recipe from the NYT) but I didn't want to go find the miso... The potatoes were very good (and had no soy sauce taste) but did have a good tongue flavor with the umami added.

I also use Soy Sauce instead of salt when making soup, chili, stew, etc...

Or it could be someone who just needs money and wants to move that stuff quickly. I was thinking about just doing a bulk sale of all my n scale diesels and rolling stock. it’s mainly UP, SF, BNSF, and SP. everything from GP 30 to SD 90. Haven’t decided yet.

I could shoyu on steak right before I pull it off the fire. Put some on the steak flip it put it on the other side flip it and take it off. In a little bit with wasabi as a dipping sauce and it’s all good.

By the way, I am entering all of these words via the dictation on the iPad instead of finger typing everything. It’s a pain as I have to correct it most of that time. So if he doesn’t look bad, I’m not gonna correct it.

The Japanese Steak Sauce (Soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, probably a few other things) is SUPER GOOD.

Thought this was interesting. Shows that all the movies are wrong.

Mythbusters covered it years ago. Don't get your powder wet.

So muzzle loaders won't once the powder is wet. You might have a second or two if using a percussion cap.

The fun thing is how high speed rounds function. John Wick 3 Parabellum got it right. Wick grapples an assassin and falls into a spa's hot tub. The other assassin tries to shoot Wick under water.

The rounds fire, but slow down real fast - Wick backed away until the guy's mag was empty, then moved in and shot the guy point blank while he was reloading.

I decided to use dark grey 1/16-inch card stock to create the city skyline silhouette for my model railroad display shelve project. The city continues on for about 4 feet until it turns into more of a county background. Last year I told a friend I had big plans for my bedroom. My plan is finally taking shape. Swal

It's just like the used gun market. Used firearms made in the last 20-30 years are hard to sell. None of the local shops will buy any modern semi-auto pistols or AR's unless they are limited edition or rare.

I have 2 tables at a train swap meet this weekend and I am focused on going home with nothing. Engines and cars that have been sitting around for a year or more I will be aggressively pricing them to move. I've seen the same guys haul the same full dunnage tubs of engines and cars home year after year. It's just stuff that when you die will get dumped or given away. I've become very pragmatic as I have gotten older.;)
