Good morning from Sister Bay, Wisconsin and we both seem very relaxed. Thanks again for the anniversary good will messages

The 3.5 hour trip home will be broken up as we go the long way home in what looks like a full rainy day trip. We are leaving a day early as the AB&B has sprung a few leaks in the kitchen windows. I let the property manager know yesterday we were uncomfortable mopping up the kitchen every few hours. So they refunded us 1/2 our payment and we are leaving by 10.

1st stop is Seroogy’s Chocolates in Green Bay. One of the more decent chocolate shops in this part of the state but we going here for the excellent taffy and turtle cashew clusters. Then we are heading to Mequon as we meander home to eat lunch at St Paul’s Fish Company. A great lobster roll for Terry and something shrimp for me. Then across the street to the Mequon Public Market for a couple waffle cones and ice cream at the Purple Cow. As we lapse into a food coma we will go to Freeze Candies in West Allis and buy from a top 3 ranked Chocolatier in my book within Wisconsin. Just some awesome candies and of course chocolates to die for…

Finally we head down to Muckwanago and a stop at the Elegant Farmer. It is a farm market and kitchen in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, famous for its signature "Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag" and gourmet specialty foods. Set in a neat rural market setting barely outside the subdivisions it offers seasonal activities like hayrides, apple picking, and train rides on the East Troy Electric Railroad. There is a trolley stop behind the store but with forecasted storms this is a store visit only. Then the 90 minute backroad drive home to finish the day.

As we travel today there maybe other stops on the way home especially by the Tisch Mills, Manitowoc and Sheboygan exits as Terry has family in those areas.

None of the Crew needed any modeling or train supplies so we are not stopping at Enginehouse Services in GB or Hiawatha Hobbies in Peewaukee today

Enjoy your day

Morning all,

Host machine upgrades went as they should have. One was trying to tell me it didn't want to update, but I convinced it otherwise.
Now to run the windows updates next Saturday.

TomO: Happy Belated Anniversary. 50 is a big deal. Don't know how I overlooked it.

Not much going on today.

I just took my last antibiotic tablet a few minutes ago. This tablet is an inch long and 3/8" in diameter. The one I swallowed a couple of day ago got stuck in my throat for 20 minutes before my stomach would allow it to pass.

For the next three, I had to get a folded up piece of aluminum foil, fold it over the tablet and pulverize it with a ball-peen hammer. Then I put it on a small saucer and finished powdering it with an E-xacto knife before loading the powder on a spoon and dumping it on the back of my tongue and washing it down with water.

It's a foul tasting concoction and very bitter. It changes the way food and drink tastes too until it works its way out of your system and kills all those nasty bacteria.

I later found out this particular antibiotic is offered in solution. Had I known that ahead oof time I would have insisted on it. But I'll remember it now. Thank God that's done with.

Good Morning All. Clear and 71° here this morning. Only hit 96° yesterday. It's about time that the cool weather arrived. The Celebrated Jumping Rain Chance of Cooke County has now moved to midnight Sunday at 60%...note the Mark Twain inference there! The wind shift from the NE that comes with it and remains will lower our highs to ~90° for a few days, with overnight lows in the upper 60's. The cloudiness though will allow the pool to cool off, but we're probably still looking at being able to use it into the first week of October.

The visit to the spine doctor yesterday held no surprises. It normally takes 2-3 days for the Corticosteroid to take effect, I am truly hoping that it works this time. I may have posted before that it has only a 75% chance of being effective the first time. It is only meant for pain relief, and doesn't fix the underlying issues, although it does buy time for natural healing. Grocery trek afterwards went well also, I am not used to the Friday customer crowd, which included less "Jumbo" users but more wanderers. And surprise, gas around town has dropped a nickel since Wednesday when we went to eat at a Mexican place.

Back to the usual routine today outside in the cooler temperatures, should remain below 90° until at least noon. Still not mowing but I have enough firewood cut around the place to stack and last all winter. Much of it I cut last fall & winter, the rest being two dead trees that I had the Lumberjack crew do last week or so. They also cut two live trees for me that didn't recover from the tornado of '24; which at 18"-24" in diameter are just too big for me to tackle any more. Twenty years ago, yes, but not any more. Aging is not for sissies to quote Karl's Dad. Wife pulled a pork roast out of the freezer yesterday. I don't know what her plans are for it yet. If it's for me to prepare for Pulled Pork, that will be in the crockpot for tonight, after getting a slight bark on it from the grill. If she wants me to make Carnitas, that will be tomorrow since it needs to marinate overnight. Or maybe she'll surprise me and make something herself.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I mainly piddled about with the latest project area. Here's a picture of Pizzaland with lights that I forgot to post yesterday.

Now visible is the figure inside who has been standing in the dark for 10 years!
Added a few more figures and a '54 Buick station wagon in the parking lot also...before I vacuumed the landscaping debris up.

That vehicle is from Oxford. Returned the cement mixer to the roadway out front.

I also installed most of the remaining road to the left, but it is still under a handful of weights overnight.

Patrick - Retirement is such an individual thing, different for everyone. Personally I retired 2.5 years before my FRA and waited until then to start collecting SS. I did start Medicare at 65 though. Wife worked 7 more years after my retirement at her part-time H&R Block gig, just because she liked it. I personally think that she just didn't want to be home with me! She did start SS at her FRA, but our combined incomes did not trigger any penalties. We stopped using her income as savings and used money market withdrawals to fill in any gaps as needed. The money market funds are non-taxable. We did have a financial advisor, but no retirement advisor. I did the retirement math myself, and we dropped the financial guy shortly after my retirement. He was only managing a few accounts anyway, and I was managing a few myself already. It helps that the State of Texas has no state income tax and property taxes are frozen when either party reaches 65. My wife reached that age about 6 months before I retired. Our one mistake was my wife remaining on my company insurance after reaching 65. She should have switched to Medicare and lowered my premiums for that 6 months. I didn't drop her until I switched to COBRA at retirement.
Good luck with your own retirement plans. Retirement will allow much more time for your layout. But remember to have some other activities in mind so you don't get bored.
Louis - Good news on your recovery and rehab. Especially that diaper thing. I wish that I weighed 218! I am fortunate that I can still get up off the floor unassisted, and have recently been doing a lot of work under the layout. It takes longer to get up though.
Troy - Is there any way to really fold a fitted sheet??? One more reason to just reuse the old set when doing the laundry.
Todd - Lil certainly looks healthy. I'd love to have a few goats, but I don't have a fence on any of my 15 acres, save for a 200' piece of a neighbor's fence in the far corner. I also have a small animal one around the garden but that's only 2' tall.
David (Marlin) - Great news on Nikki. Best wishes to her on her continued recovery.

Singer/songwriter/producer Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers is 86 today. Lita Ford, lead guitarist for the pioneering all-female rock band The Runaways is 68 today. The late Mama Cass, Cass Elliott of the Mamas and Papas was born on this day in 1941. Also the late Beatles manager Brian Epstein, was born on this day in 1934.

Off to a very late (for me) post this morning since I lost most of it when I had to refresh to prove that I was a human.
Everybody have a great Saturday.

I use Whal #1 on the sides and #2 on top, I like my hair to be short.
That’s basically bald. 😂 #1 is 1/8” and #2 is 1/4”

With #6 on the top the hair is 3/4”. Still short but you can at least see it 🤣. Then #4 on the side is 1/2”

Wife doesn’t particularly like it when first done. Thinks it’s too short but it doesn’t take long to grow in to where she likes it. But of course, my (twice a year whether I need it or not) means it ends up pretty shaggy and long before cut again.

I’m not on any schedule and “twice a year” is approximate.

Keep hearing that I should have taken SS earlier. Sadly, I would only be a couple hundred ahead at the end of the year as I'd lose most of the money from the 1 for 2 deal they do when you're not at FRA.

Hello from Wisconsin. It was a very good day and thank you everyone on the congrats for anniversary #50. We are heading out tomorrow
Tom O: Congratulations on 50. (I just saw this).

But where is Paulie Walnuts?

Counting today, we have approximately 53 days remaining as Residents of Jersey. Then we become "Homeless" until we close on the new digs in NC. Tentatively, we have temporary lodging arranged in the interim, Otherwise, we mooch of my kids.

This forum server is still goofy.

She cuts mine starting with a 0 on the sides around the ears and back, with a fade up to 4 at the part line, and then 6 for the top. Pretty much a 35-10 Air Force haircut. Not Marine short, but very clean and sharp.

I don't think military Dress & Appearance regulations are called 35-10 anymore though. So much has changed since I was a member.

Good morning folks from Colorado. Happy Belated Anniversaries to those who have made it!
I do keep my hair short, always have, if it gets on my ears it bugs me, so off it comes. So glad to hear good reports on surgeries and doctors visits.
Been a real nice trip out here, I will probably do a separate thread with pictures once I'm home and can sort through them all. If you get out here, the Colorado Railroad Museum is a must-see.
You guys take care.

Glad to see everything coming along nicely. For a moment, I thought you were going to heat the spoon!

Navy women can do whatever they want. I wonder if they are just civilians in costume most times. But I see it go back into the regs that I am familiar with as I see the rank go up.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those abroad, both large and small

it's troy again.

well, I was going to game today. As I started the car to drive up to the game store, my opponent texted to say it was raining hard with flash flood warnings at his place which was close to the game store where we play.

So we cancelled. Turns out, on this side of town we didn't even get 1/4 inch of rain.

Here's a pic from yesterday's game. My dudes are the painted ones.

Wife took her RA meds last night, so she hasn't felt well all day. But she wanted a greasy pizza for supper from Pizza King.

She even let me hava a slice!

In SAC in the 80s, they were very strict with Dress & Appearance standards with both men and women. We were instructed on my base that you could even respectfully call out an officer if you saw something that wasn't right.

I've been cutting my own hair, sometimes with the help of my wife, sometimes looking at the mirror. right now it's pretty short, but still covers the bald spot. I really need to get back into professional hair cuts again.

Today was a sports fans delight. Baseball, Football, and Preseason Hockey. It doesn't get better than that.

Have a good Sunday!

Yeah big difference since then. When we were having conduct issues in Okinawa and Japan, the base admiral had a meeting with all E7 and above and told us about leading by example. Then as we left, the officers clearly showed that they were not onboard.

Met with the surgeon today and everything sounds like it’s going well. It’s nice that he speaks English.. He asked me if I remembered anything from the surgery and I told him that I remember him asking me if I remembered him and then him telling me that the surgery was over so it was a nice short surgery..

Having only one eye is strange because no depth perception, so I need to move my hand slowly when reaching for anything.
