Good Morning All. Clear and 74° at my little spot in North Central Texas. Forecast is for 101°, but that's what yesterdays was and it reached 105° instead. A few more days like this in the forecast, maybe a cool front next Friday night??? Rain? Maybe next month.
At 46 triple-digit days this year, we're nowhere near the record of 2011 with 71, but we have broken the September record with 9 days so far. Previous record was 2023 with 8. That year had 55 days of triple-digits in total. Historical average is just 20 days a year.

Hauled and stacked firewood yesterday, without needing a Tylenol. Even split a couple more logs. Did burn trash since there was a dew and no wind; and a bunch of other minor outdoor tasks before noon. Looks like more of the same today.

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was a mix of running trains and adding a little more ground cover. I really didn't spend as much time out there as I normally would since the pool was beckoning early!

Bill - Love looking at your breakfasts, but no way I would eat most of them. OK, I might pick the bacon or sausage out but most have too much sugar/carbs for me.
Tom O - A 49 car autorack job huh! That should get the imagination flowing trying to get every one different.
Sorry to read that you couldn't make it down here to enjoy our weather; but Terry's health takes priority.

Just to add to all of your existing issues, it may be time for a sleep study to determine if you have apnea and need a CPAP mask! I think that most insurance plans cover them regardless of age. I also believe that anyone who has a sleep study is diagnosed with apnea regardless.

Late drummer/lyricist Neil Peart of Rush, was born on this day in 1952. He wrote my most favorite lyric of all time from the song "Freewill"; "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice".

Everyone have a super Saturday and a safe weekend.
Willie

49 cars plus the 1 equals 50. But he runs them as 25 car units! So 2 trains. They are long. I feel good about it so far. Doing side 2 today but not sure I can complete the order if I get it in his time frame

The heat index in Austin has been and will continue a few more days at 100+. We made the correct decision. Maybe the end of October we’ll come down

Good morning fellow coffee shop denizens. I see the forum is slow AGAIN, but not too terribly. One learns to be thankful for small favors.
73 in the Brew City this morning going to 78. They're having a Fall Fest in the neighborhood this weekend. The wife and I are walking down to nose around and see what they have. I loved street fairs when I was a teenager growing up in Western PA. We'll see how this one compares!

Cranking out Passenger car after passenger car. Burning through figures like I have an unlimited supply. There are 11 cars total, and I'm a little more than halfway through. Enjoy your day.

I had one about a year ago. Minor fits of sleep apnea, but not even close to the line.

Oh, and the insurance wouldn't pay for it, even with a dr's referral. So i paid the $1,000 out of pocket for ti.

Just trying to stimulate your brain from afar!
It worked! :D

I have learned to take suffering to the brink of an art form. But even i get into the doldrums sometimes. I remind myself "suffering is a blessing, something good will come from this" and I keep my mind stimulated with MLB, thank God it is baseball season, but baseball history works as well. Otherwise, I reach a point of stagnation.

Lionel Trains piqued my interest, thank you again.

Tomorrow the Baltimore Ravens kickoff their season... I won't mention where or who they play, it's painful for me. I will tell you we are having Johnsonville Jalapeno-Cheadar sausages, with nacho cheese, chopped onions and pickled jalapenos! Let the games begin!

My wife loves to watch the Ravens, and she knows football better than many fans. But when things don't go well for her Ravens... It's fun to watch football with her :D

Louis, good to see you back, you have been missed.
79 here right now, heading to only 90 today with lots of sunshine. Might take Andra out for lunch, we will see how the day progresses. No hobbying plans for today or tomorrow, then travel for the next 1 1/2 weeks as we go to Colorado for a vacation. Going to hit the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden and we will also be riding the Royal Gorge Train while we drive around the state.
My Cardinals are trying to reach the .500 mark before the end of the Season, that was my hope at the Season's start as they rebuild.
You guys have a good day.

Your wife's company-provided insurance is the crappiest that I have ever read about. No MRI's, no sleep studies, questions regarding every medication that you guys take!!! Get off that and get on Medicare (with your own supplemental insurance) as soon as you are eligible. My company insurance paid for two separate home sleep studies over the years, without a penny out of my pocket. Likewise, Medicare paid for one, as well as an MRI. Company insurance paid for at least two MRI's over the years. Your insurance company doesn't seem to have the patients well being in focus. Or maybe the company is just taking the cheapo way out. Or maybe y'all are just paying for the lowest tier... Remember that you're not 35 any more.
Sorry for the rant, nothing personal intended.

Made some buta kakuni with the pork belly today. Buta - pig, kakuni is shoyu, mirin (sweet rice wine), cooking sake, and brown sugar. Boil the pork belly for 2 hours with ginger and green onion, then boil with the sauce for an hour. Came out super soft and tasty. The pork belly I bought had a lot of meat.

I had 2 pieces, but the rest of the family about cleared it.
Wife makes something like that somewhat regularly using whatever pork we have. It is pretty good.

That man could write some profound lyrics. Not meaning that one in particular, but as a whole, the guy was a genius for that style of music.

It's not a "NO X,Y or Z" - We have to have all the hoops jumped through to trigger it. A LOT of plans have moved that way in the past few years. The ACA made insurance more expensive, and the other side's counterpoint lessened some of the restrictions, but costs didn't come down for the consumer. Once a company has increased prices, why decrease? Oh, and now they don't have to cover as much as the ACA.

To be fair, we could go for the Cadillac plan at about 10x the current cost. But that would put a dent in what she's throwing into retirement. She'll do the math on what we spent this year, and see if it's worth double the monthly premium cost to have a lower deductible without much more benefit.

I came down stairs and smelled something familiar. This is the wife’s yaki buta. Made with a pork roast instead of pork belly. Same thing. Soy sauce, cooking sake, sugar.

Wife cuts it and uses it with ramen, or rice, or plain and probably a million other ways.
