Good morning from my place. 53f degrees now maybe 81 later. Yesterday was a beautiful day high 70’s with super clear skies.

The Forum: I tried after I posted here yesterday to post on the history of today thread. Data errors and then the same around 4pm. Gave up till 2am this morning and it was so slow loading then I gave up. I am finding myself coming here less to catch up than in the past!

Today is my annual full body scan MRI at 11:20am. 2 massive dozes of anxiety meds to take before I climb on the table. I hate this thing. Ubering there and home as family is unavailable to chauffeur which is a rarity! Terry has been miserably sick since we got home from Trolling! I have been radioactive since Wednesday afternoon when I went to the local clinic and swallowed the nuclear pill. I have been on a low sodium almost free diet since 8/27/2026

This morning though till 10:30 I will work on some more trees.

Later today after the anxiety meds wear off I am going to practice some custom graffiti on a 50’ plate F high cube. It’s been a few years since I have done any custom graffiti. Then I have 1 autorack to do, a medium fade, some grimy wheels and frames and then graffiti both sides. It’s for a past very good weathering client. If I feel good after doing it and he likes it’s I can have a 49 car commission of autoracks to be delivered by Thanksgiving. Terry wanted me to do this as she feels it will be good for me. I had turned him down 2x in the last year.

Gut Freitag Morgen!

69°F/69°F here on this soaked morning. No rain, but plenty of humidity that never decreased with the front passing. At least it's cooler. Same story for today. I'm hoping I can keep the windows open at least for today. If it gets to 80°F like they are guessing, I may close up the house and run the A/C just to get rid of the humidity.

Cloudy right now and hope it stays that way.

Nothing going on here today. Again. Nephew said something about a trip to the gunshop, but I haven't heard back from him. He probably ended up filling in for someone as supervisors often have to do in his job.

Walnuts on my trees are dropping like flies and the walnut leaves are starting to turn yellow and fall. They are the first to fall even before Autumn, and the last to leaf out in the spring. It takes forever for them to lose their leaves though even when they start to fall.

Happy Friday!

Fairly nice day in store for today. Currently is 66F with a high of 79F under mostly sunny skies.

Has been a busy morning already. I had to run my daughter to school early for an interact club meeting. Dishwasher is already emptied, and I already have 1 load of laundry done and folded. Second one is in the dryer. I have to run to CVS yet to pick a couple of 90 day prescription for my wife and myself.

Other than that, looking forward to hopefully a quiet Friday.

Good Morning All. A cool 73° here this morning, after a high yesterday of only 106°. Another week or so like this per the NWS, and maybe a high in the low-90's on Saturday the 19th. This weather is sure extending the pool season this summer. Shutdown date varies greatly from early-September to early-October some years. This year looks like October right now. The water temperature ranges from 87° at dawn to 89° in late afternoon. A tad warm, but refreshing still. Ideally we like it in the 82°-84° range.
The promised thunderstorms yesterday did actually appear, but that's it...all thunder. Might have been some scattered cells of heavier activity nearby, but all I got was a few sprinkles. Not enough to wet anything down. But, I just went out to turn on the pool filter, barefooted, and there is a dew on the ground. First time since May!

Solo grocery trek yesterday, went quickly but I noticed an excessively high bill. Especially since we didn't fill the fridge or freezer after putting everything up! The now usual stops at the drugstore and post office , a stop at Tom Thumb for items that Kroger didn't have and a gas fill up completed the trip. Gas is going up, as most stations are now in the $3.84/gal range. Ended up celebrating our anniversary a day late with dinner at our local Italian establishment.
Not sure which direction I will go in this morning, but the cooler morning is conducive to some outdoor tasks. Burn trash is on the list, no wind and dew on the ground makes it a really safe day.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished the gravel parking area around the Garage, and completed the ground cover to the right of the Import Auto place.

Note the large hole beneath the Garage for the lighting lead, and also the potential printed backdrop structure as well.
To the south (left), I put the first coat of paint on the asphalt parking area for Pizzaland, seen here on the left.

I should finish the ground cover around and behind Pizzaland next and potentially place some of the structures back in place.
Still awaiting the opportunity to apply the mortar wash to the unnamed industrial structure. Have all of the components for a new batch of wash assembled over on the workbench, but just haven't had a long enough window of time to start. Due to re-organizing the entire train shed earlier this year, I have forgotten where I stashed my supply of empty paint bottles to mix the stuff in, and I will have to use an empty condiment container for it instead.

I believe your right. I have noticed that at times when I come here during the day I'm the only member online.

It was never like that in the past. There were always several members online. Probably why there is little new content on the
general forum.

David (Marlin) - Great news about Nikki. Helping her into and out of the shower can't all that bad?
Troy - That Winter weather warning is funny. But I don't mind the warmer climate here. I don't usually get out the blue jeans until mid-December and I am back to shorts (mostly) by late-January. I think that I wore socks just twice last winter. Saves on laundry!!!
John - I was not on that jury, but I would have voted guilty; hell, she admitted to doing it! But obviously there is/was something that caused the hung-jury. At 11-1, there must have been some really compelling reason for their non-verdict. I do tend to be a hard-liner when it comes to crime though.

Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart is 83 today.

Interestingly yesterday I had left over lasagna for a late lunch. I ate a bit more than I should have (trying to clean out the fridge of leftovers lol). I felt like Garfield looks above and debate a short nap in the “comfy chair” after I was done.

Good morning folks and No, we will never forget. 25 years ago, I was up getting ready for my job as a Field Parole Agent. Strangely, I did not have the news on that morning, when my wife called to tell me to turn the news on. I did just as the second Tower was hit. Not knowing what the day would bring, I loaded an unauthorized rifle and spare clothes in my cruiser and went off to work. Was able to top my gas up at one of the State Police HQs later that day. On the way home that night, I called in to one of the larger radio stations in Southern Illinois and requested a dedication of a song to the terrorists who had attacked us. The DJ was very taken aback until he heard what song I wanted. It was Charlie Daniels' "In America". He laughed and put it right on.

It's Troy again

Got a call from the Vet. Lord Fuzzbutt had 7 teeth extracted. He's not going to be eating kibbles any time soon.

So, we go get him in about half an hour. We'll see how loopy he is. He's definitely earned some cuddles tonight.

Wife and I went out and hit the local midwest-mexican chain place. Local chain with about 10 stores in the region. I prefer the other place better, but the wife wanted their soup. The other place doesn't have what she likes in the way of soup. So I saluted and said "Yes, dear."

"Poor-man's Brisket" is on the smoker, in it's foil boat, getting past the stall. Should be ready to eat about 5p. Wife is going to make corn bread, and mashed sweet taters.

On 9/11/2001 I was living in New Hampshire, and was working on my own business. I had a small office in the basement and I was down there on the computer doing something. My dad emailed me and said a plane had hit one of the world trade centers. I thought, oh, that's interesting -- thinking it was something like an accident of a small plane like a private plane or at worst like an accidental strike like the B-25 that hit the Empire State Building during WW2. I finished what I was doing and wandered upstairs to where the wife was (she was off that day and was scheduled to drive down to Boston -- actually Belmont -- to volunteer to help clean the Boston LDS Temple). I mentioned it to her and we turned on the TV. That was probably right after the 2nd tower was hit and I was totally shocked and spent the day glued to the TV. I think the Pentagon hit was after I turned on the TV but I don't remember. I told the wife she wasn't driving down to Boston. They were trying to get the city emptied in case there were more attacks happening).

A day I will never forget.

The outpouring of support from the world, especially the UK, was very heartening. I remember seeing a lot of cars and trucks flying US and UK flags in the weeks following. Unfortunately we've forgotten this. (I'll stop now before it veers political)

I saw a cool post of a drone display that was just done where 2977 drones (one for each victim) with a bright light flew into a large display that recreated the twin towers standing in NY.

Yes I had a diatribe typed and deleted. You guys don't need the drama.

Vacation coming up in a month. First long one we've taken in about 10 years. Last one was going to Disney world before the oldest 2 granddaughters hit kindergarten. We'll see how many phone calls I get.

Wife and I and family doing fine thus far.

I may have posted this before. My first full time job after graduating high school was with Layfette Shipping, a customs brokerage. Basically I did all the leg work for our clients, getting their paperwork through US Customs. At that time Tower One was nearly complete and accepting offers for leasing space. My boss was in negotiating a lease. I enlisted in the USCG and left before Layfette moved to Tower One. After the Towrs were hit, I looked and Layfette was still a renter in Tower One. I didn't find my boss's name amongst the deceased. On the day, 9/11, I was at work, the wife called to tell me a plane had hit one of the towers. We had a TV in the conference room. I, along with people from all over the building watched in horror as the second plane hit. Like Chad, we watched all day. Seeing the Towers collapse was shocking. I have been a Texan 62 of my 80 years, but there is still a place in my heart for NYC.

Afternoon All! I see the forum is off its Meds today again! 78 in the Brew City this afternoon. I had to mow yesterday and a bunch of other stuff, plus get ready for the club meeting. I got the two SP diners finished which with people, extra weight, and window shades took up a significant portion of the day. Oh and I had to paint the kitchen windows too. They came out nice if I do say so myself. pics will show up over on my passenger car thread when the forum starts letting me upload stuff which it isn't at the moment! I don't know what the deal with this place is, but I hope they get a handle on it soon before too many people get too frustrated! Enjoy your day!

I had left over lasagna

Yeah, I shouldn't laugh. I love lasagna as well. My buddy used to make a tray and bring to work. I used to eat probably 1/8th of the tray, but that was when I was lifting and running. Now, when I make a tray, I usually end up freezing half of it and having it a couple of weeks later.

G'morn'. Well, it is raining again. Got 4 mm overnight. Not sure what is on the schedule today, but I'll think of something. Maybe some caccio e pepe.

Yeah, I shouldn't laugh. I love lasagna as well. My buddy used to make a tray and bring to work. I used to eat probably 1/8th of the tray, but that was when I was lifting and running. Now, when I make a tray, I usually end up freezing half of it and having it a couple of weeks later.

I don't make it very often but when I do I make 2 or 3 large pans of it. We end up eating it daily as left overs until it's gone. My son and I love it. My daughter tolerates it. The wife likes it but not every day... This time I made 2 large pans and I had enough meat and cheese sauce left to make a third 1/2 -- 2/3 sized pan. We're on that last pan as of today. Just finished a piece for a late lunch. (Much smaller than what I had yesterday)...


In other news I finally got my DCC test track set back up and started working on my app again. It's been several months since I've been able to work on it due to the move and getting set back up. The DCC test track has a few flaky power wires but it works. (Flaky in that one of the power districts causes the train to stop, but wiggling the wire at the power terminal block causes it to go again -- so I need to re-wire everything on that terminal block -- luckily since it's a test track there is only 1 wire going out from it as the power district it controls is not large enough to need multiple wires.).

Sounds like my house. Though my daughter can take it or leave it as well and my wife wont eat it as leftovers. Pretty much the rest of

Evening folks. Currently 88, humid, and still. Site was finicky earlier today, seems alright now. Dark clouds and some thunder today, but no rain. Did get a good downpour right as I was leaving work yesterday.

As much as I like lasagna, eating it every day would make me hate it.
