My breakfast 4-5 days a week since 1/2022 has been yogurt and granola. It was an easy way to start the day with my carb and sugar counts but it does get boring. I vary the yogurt between, blueberry, cherry and vanilla. The granola is the Bare Naked brand and there are 5-7 flavors I buy depending on sale pricing. Boring but a decently heathy start to the day. I do miss toast though
Wow, that's worse than my heart healthy breakfasts. I vary my breakfasts each day, first oatmeal covered with granola and fruit, plus yogurt. Day 2 a bowl of Post Shreddies with fruit and yogurt, Day 3 a bowl of Raisin Bran, with fresh fruit and yogurt. day 4 a toasted bagel with grape or raspberry jelly, maybe yogurt. Then repeat. Day 8 is Turkey sausage and eggs, maybe an omlet with peppers and onions if I feel ambitious. Very ordinary, very boring, mostly healthy. MY kitty 😼 shares the yogurt. Vet approves, good for digestion.

Good evening. Another beautiful day, only warmer. Today's temperature range 62° and 88° Next 4 days are forecast to be 91°. School opens Thursday for every one.

We went for a walk this morning at a county park, 0.9mi, then we went to a township park, where they hold a farmers market, with an additional 0.38 mi walk. So, I had my steps in for the day, by noon. We picked up an egg plant and a slicing tomato.

After lunch, I cleaned out the vanity in the hall bath, really a sink and a toilet, but they are not called "powder rooms" any longer...
threw out some expired covid tests, Epsom salts that has been in there at least 10 years, and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff that collected beneath the drawer. I took apart the sink trap and drain, as the drain was backing up. Much to my surprise, there was nothing in the trap or line to obstruct the flow????o_O:rolleyes: I even snaked the line in the wall. Go figure. I reassembled everything, and tried it and everything works...

My Yogurt, is Activia, 60 calorie in a small sized cup. it's the only yogurt I can tolerate, and I've grown accustomed to it over the years.

I was going to grill Turkey Burgers, (always an adventure), but the wife had bedding drying on the patio, so she fried them on the stove top. Tomorrow I grill steaks, potatoes and squash...

I'm quite sore after the contortions trying to fit in the vanity. Especially my left leg, (the one that had the knee replacement), Used ice before dinner, heat while in the shower after dinner, and it's still chirping. I'm beginning to regret my decision to have it done.
Its been over three years since the surgery, and it never met my expectation, even after a successful extended physical therapy, and time to heal, I still experience muscular tenderness and restricted movement.

Scores: Mets beat mariners 6 - 3; Baltimore over Arizona 8 - 5; Phillies over Milwaukee 4 - 2, and Miami over DC 6 - 4. Gotham leads Houston 3 - 1 in the 8th. NCAA Football, Rutgers 24 - Northwestern 7; LSU - Florida State tied at 14 with seconds left in the first half. In the FIBA World Cup, Lithuania beat USA 110 - 104.

Tomorrow (Labor Day), is the traditional "Benny Go Home" day at the Jersey Shore...our patience and tolerance is wearing thin at this point. That also goes for the bicyclists who insist on riding 4 abreast along our county back roads, Go back to work!

The yogurt I eat is Oikos greek style triple zero that actually is very good. when combined with the various granola flavors it’s a good variety but does get boring.

I love all kinds of yogurt!

Like I do most any dairy product.

Milk has always been a favorite of mine. Skim, to whole and everything in between, it's all great!

No almond or oat "milk" for me, thank you.
I am a carb counter for diabetic health reasons. I used to drink whole milk then 1% the last 20+ years. Now it’s unsweetened almond and it’s fine. I use it maybe once a week when I create a granola mix cereal. There is just something about a spoon and a bowl of cereal that feels good. Of course now it’s 1/2 cup of the granola mixed cereal and 1/2 cup of almond milk.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 78°, getting back into the triple-digits today. Forecast calls for 100°+ through Friday, and then another break, maybe until next summer.
Pool felt great this morning, at 84°. Yep! I was in it at 0430 this morning, an early morning dip always does me good. Great way to start Labor Day. I usually wait until after I walk around 0730. This was after an unusually great night of sleep, 7 hours with only one bathroom break!

OK, I'll mention frozen yogurt, I dislike it as well. I love ice cream but I stopped eating it about three or four years ago when I started counting carbs. A cup of traditional ice cream contains more carbs than 4-12 oz bottles of beer!

After three days of grilling; burgers Friday, steak Saturday and chicken fajitas Sunday, today I am observing Labor Day by slow-cooking a pork butt in the crock pot for pulled pork with homemade coleslaw tonight.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I pulled out the figures palette. It came about when I sorted through the last 24 figures that I received from Chet. I just needed to get them sorted, touched up and out of the way.

As you can see, the three in the upper left are missing appendages.
IMG_0298.JPG

The two men missing the feet will be easy to fix with my collection of legs that were removed to fit figures into vehicles. The lady without the leg may be harder.
I've mentioned my collection of figures that I have painted and stored, here is one of the two storage boxes.
IMG_0299.JPG

Since a full third of the layout is not developed other than track, I will have plenty of locations for them. In addition, I have probably two dozen structures and another half dozen street locations that I haven't populated yet.
I keep a palette (piece of cardboard) with all of the work in progress and every time I paint something else, I use that color on somebody waiting for it. I am a bit behind though, here is the palette before I added the new figures to it.
IMG_0301.001.JPG

Those figures that are circled in red are Chinese figures with bizarre colors. Three of those gentlemen will have their pants recolored as blue jeans, which are much more appropriate for my era and locale. Those pink, yellow and red pants might go well in downtown LA, but not the flatlands Midwest that I model. After adding in the new figures, 6 actually went into the finished bucket to await dull coating, I decided that I would make the most by starting with black; thus wiping out several in the "hair", "belts", "shoes", and just black categories. This I started with and left them to dry for now.

Tom O - Are you sure that you don't hire the lifeguards for the eye-candy? Four of them seems like overkill!
Wife uses that unsweetened almond milk for some things. When I make something requiring milk, I use heavy whipping cream. I think that it is 7 carbs a cup, but I rarely use that much in any recipe.
Troy - Never tried baked beans mixed in with pulled pork. Sounds interesting and tasty. I'll have to try it with the leftovers from tonight.
Joe - Sorry to read about the issues with the replacement knee. My wife is real happy with hers after they re-did the infected one. She still can't keep up with me when walking, but the knees have nothing to do with that.

Everybody have a great Labor Day.

Good morning from So. Central WIsconsin where it’s supposed to be another high 90’s day. Woke at 6:30 which is much better than 8AM or later like the last few days. I don‘t feel the urge or need to head off to Urgent Care but I do know something is wrong. The sinus are continuing to drain and it’s irritating. I made an appointment online for Tuesday morning to see my General Practitioner.

There are no plans today! It’s a do what I want or not day. No one coming to visit, I have not been invited anywhere, so time to chill.

Talked to Terry last night. They took a helicopter tour yesterday of the island and while not “allowed” to fly over Lahaina, they could see the absolute devastation from a couple miles away. She says the island needs visitors but it’s a mixed feeling from the residents and talking with my brother he has been saying the same. Maui won’t ever go back to what it was like before the fires but they will need to find an equitable solution. The prices for everything is soaring and while it doesn’t hurt many of the part time residents it’s really hurting the “real” locals and natives. Some understand the more they tell people to stay away from visiting the worst it will get.

I have been looking for a weathering helper, particularly someone who can do custom graffiti. I can and do but I’m slow and unsure. In the Spring I had a local who is a gifted talented artist but she had probation issues. Those are over 9/15 but after talking with her and her granddad last evening she is no longer the one to help me. She wanted more money per piece (70% of the sale price) her attitude was completely different from Springtime and I got a feeling I couldn’t trust her to show up. She reinforced my belief the US high school system needs to teach personal and business finance classes. I asked her what she wanted to do after high school and she said she is opening a tattoo shop. I asked then does she have enough saved to open a store and when she said no I suggested this commission work would help her save or give her pocket money. The conversation went downhill from there. She is under the belief her granddad will give her money. I know her legal issues the last couple years have drained his retirement savings and while has says he’s not broke he has told me he’s not far from being.

enjoy the day

Willie, your thoughts are …

4 is just right but the real reason is years ago up north at a pool party at a friend’s place the “adults” watching the kids really weren’t. Thankfully there was no fatality but it was close. Once we got our own pool and had parties we have been hiring local high school students that are life guard certified. ( getting more difficult) I can tell you it doesn’t take much to lose a kid in the pool or lake.

Eye candy! Not really but maybe. I have watched these 4 particular ladies grow up since 2015, or since they were 9 or 10. I know their parents. It like looking at your kid, you know they look good but that’s it! Terry always chuckled about my good looking staff at work and the lack of males. Never a problem for me as I was threatened once by my wife saying if she ever found I strayed I‘d wake up some morning with a part of my body relocated! That was long before Loraina Bobbit showed up! I can still appreciate beauty though

Greetings fellow modelers and yogurt patrons - You all can share my portion !
The wife and daughter must have a dozen or more in the refrigerator: enough to turn my stomach!

I recall my Dad years back: He and Mom were at the doctor's office for a checkup and the doctor asked him if he had any complaints.
Seriously Dad (87 at the time) looked at the doctor and said -- "Yes, she won't let me have eggs and bacon for breakfast".
The doctor looked at Mom and said, "Mrs.Weems, the man is 87 years old - let him eat what he wants".

That sort of sums up my thoughts on the matter of "eating healthy".
I have been very fortunate in that regard.
Anyhoo - it is 60 degrees and the high expected is only 78 for today with variable clouds and breezy.
I actually had to close the window about 3 AM due to a cool breeze.

FLO - I'll have eggs and bacon this morning please with homefries and WW toast, thanks.
Had a cup of coffee at home, so a Diet DP woulld be nice, too!

Good Morning All!
60F @ 82% supposed to have boomers and flashes with maybe *some* rain.

Yogurt - only thing that is good for is flushing to the septic - let the biologicals work there.

Don't remember who posted - Liver and Onions look yummy! I do it just a little different though - onions are cooked with the Liver and a little bacon along for the ride.

I also count carbs ... kinda. It all depends on my BS reading in the am as to what I plan to eat for breakfast. Most of the time it is a bagel with fruit, sometimes Coco-Roos with fruit and sometimes I go whole hog with bacon/sausage egg toast and fruit. I just can not eat the same thing for days in a row - too boring. Then for the next meals that depends on how active I am. Know my BS will go down when working so I don't worry about it and eat pretty much anything. If I am lazy, pretty much veggies and fruit along with some kind of protein.

Probably a lazy day for us as we want to get the two vehicles that need to go away clean and shiny, pix then get them posted. Expedition and Frontier are running like tops so that is a good thing.

Later

morning all Been probably 3 months since walking in the door. Have looked thru the window now & again. Lots of stuff in 3 months!
Visited RR Museum yesterday. LOts of stuff. Hopefully the pics I took will upload. Something about the wrong format the last time I tried.
Their operational Steamer was down for its 5 yr maintainance/inspection. #9000 is the 1948 loco used to pull/push the paying riders in the passenger car.

Reminds me of the man who raised me, John James Timmerman. He survived the depression by singing in bars for leftover soup. I never saw him eat soup. We had meat with every meal. He gave me hotdogs for snacks.

Breakfast was my favorite. Eggs, bacon, sausage, and ham on holidays. I was almost as excited for the Christmas ham as I was for the presents. I knew we would have fried ham for breakfast!

After he had his first massive heart attack, he only ate one hardboiled egg for breakfast. He still made my breakfast feasts for me, every day. The heart attacks kept coming and he did not last much longer. They should have let him have the food he loved.

While he was alive, I was the happiest boy in the world. I doubt any son ever loved their father more than I loved him.

I don't have diabetic issues, I was cursed with other problems . I use 2% lactose free milk, which tastes like real milk, without the after taste i find with almond or soy based milk. I only directly use it on cereal days, but my wife uses it for cooking and baking instead of whole milk. Strange, but the "milk" in the Activia doesn't bother me ? I watch my weight level, so I minimize carbs, fats and other things that were once staples of my diet. Amazing how many displays in supermarkets that we just bypass now.

Amazing that so many "Heart Healthy" products are also high in sodium content, a result of the CDC's standards on sodium, that critics are saying are entirely too low. Maybe??? That maybe why it is so difficult to follow the low sodium guidelines I was presented with when hospitalized last year. Frustrating!

Afternoon all,

After getting up at 4am to take care of some business, I went back to bed and slept until after 7. I must have needed it. Got up, dressed, fixed breakfast for the wife, got gas for the truck, and additional groceries for the cookout we are doing with ALL the kids. Missing 1 granddaughter as it's her dad's holiday this year. Then I got the mowing done as I had to put it off, got the house straightened up, made the burgers and grilled them and got done as the kids showed up. Now everything has been cleaned up and the kids are playing board games

I had to check the status of the backups or I'd be in the living room instead of sitting here typing this.

Hope you all have a safe holiday...
