RIP

As for me, I'm up, and got distracted. Worded words on something that needed doing, but wasn't the book I'm working on. I'll need to go do a miniwalk and shower to reset the brain. Hopefully I can churn some wording later this morning.

Here's my display board (WIP) for my Night Stalker army for the Oct Tourney.

Still have a lot of work to do on the scenery for the board.

Dang! I thought that I'd be breaking the Jimmy Buffett news this morning, but it looks like there are a few other early birds here today. He was still a fairly young (and very rich) man at 76. Besides being a great singer/songwriter/entertainer, he was also a very savvy businessman and licensed pilot.
RIP

Sad start to today with the news of Jimmy Buffet. May have to go out tonight and have a Margarita and a Cheeseburger in his honor. Changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes was out during my high school years, and songs from that album were selected for our guitar class final "test". I selected "Tampico Trauma" and got an A on my final.

Good Morning All!
55F @ 73% - we think the rain is done for a few days.

Hoppers
: We still have plenty although not as many as a couple of years ago. Probably 2 - 3 per Yard^2. Cats love it as they go out and get a snack multiple times a day. Dogs do not seem to care.

We got away for a bit yesterday. Maria told me night before last that yesterday was the 'take the cat to get fixed' day. So, we got out of the house about 7:30 and headed for Bonner's Ferry for the 08:00 apt. Ya, right. Found out that the apt is for the 5th. Went to the Pro Builders Home Center as I needed longer/fatter roof screws and some 2 1/4" brads for the nail gun ( more of a finish nail, but that is what they called them ). Then headed for Super 1 as we needed milk and Coco-Roos. Filled one of those small shopping carts top and bottom. We know if we are going to spend more than $50 we head for the Super 1 as prices there are close to 2/3 - 3/4 of what the local stores here offer. Coco-Roos were $4.75 there, $7.50 here - got two, Milk $2.75 there, $3.95 here - got two. The Super 1 is about 50 minutes from Libby - pretty much 0 traffic now that construction season is almost over.
On the way back we stopped in Troy for lunch as we were starving, probably wasting away. Anyway, I decided that we would eat 'down by the tracks' at Kootenai Falls. Was an Eastbound just getting out of the siding. Crap, I can beat that to Libby and we can perch there. Then it was decided we would go to Riverview as it was a nice day. Soon as I get done with this, will post 2 pix in Prototype for y'all to gander at.

Good morning and a sad day for you Parrotheads. Never a real fan of Jimmy Buffet but boy those that were really were devoted. Both of our Cheeseburgers in Paradise and the Margaritaville Restaurants went bankrupt before Covid.

It’s 65f degrees out on the back deck on a partly cloudy morning. Heading into the mid 90’s. The shade sails are protecting me from the sun except I haven‘t seen it yet. Didn’t sleep till 8 this morning (yippee) but 7:45 was close. Not a good night of sleep as the sinus are really bothering me but I’m fine. The boys leave at 11 for tailgating the opening 2:30pm season game on campus. The University of WIsconsin #19 ranked Badgers versus cupcake University of Buffalo. The new big $$$ head coach promises excitement this season. I sure hope so as he’s costing a bundle. Terry called last night they have reduced the suites in the south end zone and are we interested.I said no but played along and asked how much for a suite for 8 games. I laughed and said nope! She chuckled and said it’s cheaper than the packers. But those were business expensed.

The granddaughter and I will be in the pool or if she has her way, we might ride the horses.

enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Clear and 68° at 6:00 am, now 77°. No real change in the forecast, triple digits return Monday.
Just as soon as I posted earlier today, internet service went down. I did other stuff like walking and some minor yardwork. I later spoke with tech support, yes they work on holiday weekends, and they updated my router and cleared some accumulated junk, whatever that means. So I am back.

Weekly grocery trek yesterday was a real drag, as it was extra crowded on Friday. That's the very reason that I usually go on Thursdays. Crowded enough that there was two manned checkout lanes open (of 7). Lines at all of the self-checkouts, but I cruised right in to a manned lane that just emptied, and there was a bagger as well. I don't understand the fascination with self-checkout unless you're shoiplifting, not only are the manned lanes much faster, but you don't have to do a lot of the work. You also don't have to wait for an attendant to come over and clear you for alcohol purchases or coupons. I still have to put the items on the conveyor, but I've been doing that for 35 years at least.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I re-took my missing pictures of the barrels painted and in place.

I tackled my next project, a very minor one, but it was right there. No fence on this sliver of cow pasture across the tracks from the Antiques Barn.

Easily remedied with some Woodland Scenics barbed wire fencing.

Looks like I still need to add some sag to the wires. I thought that I got them all.

Curt - I don't do tile either. But I get the call for all electrical work. On tap but not scheduled is a level 2 EV charger for SIL #2. Although if he procrastinates much longer, it may become a moot point. He is getting awfully discouraged with the EV and the "Tesla snobs" among his cohorts. His EV is not a Tesla.
Terry - Paperless is such a joke! What it meant at our business in the early 90's was that there were a plethora of reports that could then be produced that very few read after the first few months. Payroll went much better in the early 2000's, because they contracted with an experienced third-party entity. But that only worked if you had a bank account! So half the place still got paper checks until 2014.

Today is International Bacon Day, so add that to your Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Everyone have a great Saturday.

I'm backkkk! FRANCINE - If MEL has the grill working this morning - I would like a garbage omelet! Tell him to throw in everything he has!

Today is the last day for the horse pills, but yesterday afternoon the sore throat showed up again.
I have a feeling that stronger measures will be needed - unless ... there is something else wrong?

Here's the "poop" for the next few days?
Saturday: Low clouds and fog early, becoming sunny and warm, high near 83°F.

Saturday night: Increasing clouds, then patchy fog developing, low around 59°F.

Sunday: Low clouds and fog early, becoming sunny, high of about 78°F.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, then patchy fog developing, low near 55°F.

Monday: Low clouds and fog early, becoming sunny and warm, high around 82°F.

Monday night: Clear, low of about 57°F.

Tuesday: Sunny and warm, high near 85°F.

I had a cheeseburger, with bacon and BBQ sauce at the local "Tavern" (seriously, that's its name: Don Hall's Tavern).

Wife had a tenderloin (Breaded and fried). Half the meat was outside the bun. No margaritas were consumed. I don't drink if I'm driving, and wife wasn't in the mood.

Just signed up for 5 more years of the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society. I'm optimistic that I'll live that long. ;)

Patio sitting with the theo-meter at 80 F- degrees.

Cat convinced me to give him his daily treats before the trip to the tavern. then he tried to convince me I hadn't done so when we returned from the tavern. I normally do the treats AFTER I eat lunch. He thought he was being sneaky... Dumb cat.

Afternoon All,

Started out the day with a walk at 77F and slightly breezy. It's been raining every day since the "storm." The tiling was postponed until the middle of October. I did some chores then finished the fencing project around the cow pasture. I thought I ordered too many packs of fencing (4) but I ended up using 3.5 packs, so it was a good call on my part for a change. I had a thought after I finished that the gates across the tracks should be big enough for a P/U. One side is and 1 isn't. Oh well. Tomorrow, I plan on doing the detailing in the pasture.

I'll try to take some photos tomorrow.

Louis- Great looking steamer.

Willie- Nice detailing.

Troy- Nice painting on the figures.

Sherrel- Hope you're feeling better.

I hope everyone has a good night.

It's mostly cloudy and 87 here.

I went to my new favorite LHS earlier today. It was a helpful visit, since I was able to show the staff where I modified the plumbing in 1989, so they could replace the tee I installed in both the fresh and waste plumbing when I installed a water cooler for my delivery drivers. Don't ask what I had for dinner yesterday, but I can remember how, where, where I got the parts, and how much they cost from 34 years ago.

The main reason I went there, though, was to sell my several passenger sets and locomotives that pulled them, along with some of the larger diesel freight engines that refuse to play nice with my new, smaller, "temporary" layout. I won't really miss any of that equipment, since most of it was not what you would expect to see in the time and place the layout is based upon.

Cone of Uncertainty: Idalia; Headed for Nova Scotia? Yo Gary! Look out. None of these are following predictable patterns this year.

Beautiful late summer day in Coastal Central Jersey, low this morning 48°, high this afternoon, 81° with clear sky.

Villanova opened their football season with a win over Lehigh, 38 - 10. It only gets harder from here. Mets have a lead over Seattle for now, Phillies on Fox TV. Schwarber starts game with a lead off HR in Milwaukee. Lots of college football on TV today.

Okay, I finally dug into the opaque Digitrax instructions, carefully re-read them, then threw the instructions away and figured it out myself. I now have a DCC-controlled RDC car. That's my peeve with Digitrax, they assume you already know how to do something before you start.

This sailor is sad at the loss ofJimmy Buffet. Spent most of my summer on my boat so not much train work on the home layout and sketchy internet. Back home now since the college I teach at starts classes on Tue. Still got weekends to boat until that mid Oct holiday.

Fired up the smoker today and threw in a couple racks of ribs. Chilly this evening good time for some JD while adding wood chips. Smells a lot like fall

Good Evening. Mother Nature threw a curve to the NWS today, clouds moved in and the temperature only got up to 89° this afternoon.

In other goings on, dove season in Texas opened up yesterday, and for two days I have been listening to muffled gunshot sounds. Some are coming from as close as a quarter mile north; not really bothersome as they can't be heard inside the house. While the season actually lasts until mid-November, hunters are really only active for the first few days. It's the only season that is active here, as no nearby landowners allow deer hunting at the present time. They're interested in allowing the population to increase. That season doesn't start until November 5 anyway.

Be sure to check out my layout thread listed below, as I added another post today.
