Afternoon all,

Finally slowing down, just in time to go home. Although most of my day was little stuff that takes longer to get across town for than actually fixing.

Did spit some rain earlier, but I think the sun has come out this afternoon.

Everyone have a good night.

Howdy Coffee Shop! I have a quick question for the group regarding some parts. I just wanted to see if anyone knew where I could grab a few parts for a Life Like loco that I recently acquired and am trying to get fixed up. I haven't been able to find any parts diagram online and I don't even know what to call the part but I was told to come here and ask. Here is a picture:

It's the connections between the motor and the output. You can see the grey one is cracked, the yellow one is as well so I also need a replacement for that one.

It's so old, chances are any you find will be cracked, or will crack when you try to install them.
If it's not a very long distance between the motor shaft and the worm shaft, you can put a section of 1mm vinyl fuel hose there. This will also make it run smoother and quieter, since there won't be anything rattling against each other.

Northwest short line and A-Line both make shaft and coupler kits which can fix this issue permanently. Fairly easy fix

Good evening. 54° and clear. Bottom of the 4th, Baltimore 5, Houston 3. Bottom of the 9th. Mets @ Miami tied 3 - 3. Late in their respective games, Phillies and Yankees both losing. The Rays are going to build a new Ball Park in St. Pete. They actually plan to pay for half the cost of the new stadium...

Good evening. I'm not sure if our marketing department should get an award, or lined up against a wall and shot.

On my way home from the grocery store this evening, I heard an ad on the radio for our dealership. It seems we're making blazing hot deals on RVs...

Get yourself on the waitlist. Being a new product earlier this year, it gets snapped up when stock becomes available.

The nice thing is it is compatible with everything, almost, and you can use Boosters from many different companies as well. I have one Dijikeis booster which I will use with mine once I get it (house has higher priority now). Being N scale, 3A per sector is more than enough for me. You'll probably want heftier boosters or more zones/sectors.

Here are Groups.io groups related to YaMoRC/Dijikeis: https://groups.io/search?q=yamorc&p=SubsCount,,,20,2,0,0

The first one is the main one. (I think the second was set up first but then it was decided that the Dijikeis group should morph into a Dijikeis / YaMoRC group since they are related products and have the same engineer/developer behind them.)
Thanks, I am signed up to be notified

Good morning from dark WIsconsin. What a difference a month makes, sunrise was at 6:43 this morning! It’s 61f degrees heading to 77 and a nice travel day. Off to lunch with the Son in Laws dad just a few miles near Hiawatha Hobbies. Terry did ask if I had my list ready for Hiawatha. His wife passed while we were on our way to Austin in May. The SIL and our daughter are very worried about him. His wife and him had a great survivor financial plan. A week before she passed the step-son tried to change everything and now the courts will have to settle it. Nasty and similar what Terry went through with 3 of her 4 siblings when her dad passed in 2008 and again when her mom started failing in 2019.

The crew that came over yesterday to help on the layout were wonderful and fast. The wiring and soldering guys finished and then added the circuit breaker cuts. The breakers should be here Saturday and I was instructed “exactly“ how to wire them in. They also wired up the turn back loop in the staging yard. That was not planned but the track is down and wired with the reverser installed. We tested it for about 15 minutes before they left and I was again last night. The roadbed installation went well. The temporary turn back loop has road bed and the feeders soldered to the power bus. Tonight or tomorrow I will add the track and solder the feeders to it. While at Hiawatha today I will look for the least expensive reverser. It’s temporary so no need to match the staging reverser. The plan is they will return next Tuesday morning to install the mainline track. I have to build 1 more #10 turnout for the main. That’s 4 on the 300’ of installed roadbed for the 2 sidings. There will be 1 more mainline siding on the so-far unbuilt portion of the layout and I might build those 2 at the same time as the 1 I need. Using code 83 flex (old re-used code 100 in staging) versus code 70 glued to Central Valley tie strips is a game changer for me. With the tie strips I would get at best 18’ of track completed in a day. 300’ of flex, temporary track nails and with helpers should be done by 1PM on Tuesday. I am a very happy model railroader.

enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Clear, wet and 73° out there this morning. No rain in yesterday's NWS forecast, but guess what? Mother Nature had other ideas. I had about 0.3" around 4:00, then around 9:00 last night another thundershower hit and left an additional 0.25" in the gauge. They're still sticking with their forecast of more on Thursday and Sunday.

Today is DDD for me. Double Doctor Day. I have my regularly scheduled dermatologist semi-annual skin scan early, then a two hour break until what may be my last visit to the eye center for cataract follow-up. It's what to do in that two hour break that I need to figure out. I'm going to be in the neighborhood of Home Depot, Hobby Lobby and Michael's, so there's no shortage of destinations. Making the 50 mile trip home and back is out of the question. I should actually go to the grocery store, but we don't have the list ready and haven't looked at the circular or coupons yet.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with the hobby shop. After assembly but before applying a mortar wash, I checked out the window inserts that Walthers included.

They also included two 2D employee cut-outs to use.

Did the wash, added the full background insert and employees and here's the result.

Sign installed.

That left just the roof which I painted black.

I will add roof details next when I get back to it.
On this model, I am going to mount the sidewalk directly to the layout surface instead of trying to attach it to the front. Just easier since there is just a .040" mounting surface on the sidewalk.
This was an easy build compared to a Bar Mills laser-cut wood structure, especially since I chose not to paint much over the stock plastic colors.

David - Nice garden RR setup.

Not much to comment on yesterday, as sports don't really interest me any more, and I can't add anything to the DCC discussion.
Everybody have a great day.

Good morning gang!

Knocked out 1 1/2 DCC friendly conversions of Shinohara turnouts last night. One other turnout is done except for the cutting of the frog. I need a new metal cutting disc for my Dremel. Damn wheels shatter too easily!

Willie, the hobby shop looks great with the interior!

After a 4 year absence I ordered something from the big river store. I just had to, the price was irresistible. No Prime, Prime is the reason I stopped dealing with them when I requested cancelling Prime, and the kept billing me for it.

Maybe Louis will deliver it?? LOL!

Morning all,

69° and clear, going for a high of 85°. Some outside chance of rain, but it usually rains outside.

Had about an hour of train time last night, but didn't really get anything done.

Currently at the ortho Dr to have the "good" knee worked on. We discussed a cortisone injection as it is bone on bone based on the partial set of x-rays taken a couple of months ago. Just hoping to get a little relief. Of course the painting and moving furniture aren't helping.

Thank you for sharing that!
YES, I have to agree!

The Spousal Unit runs around with the "fuel light" on all the time.
I copied that and used really large print and "forced" her to read it - she said that she would try and comply? AND YES, I will still have warm dinner tonight!

My mom was just the opposite; anytime the fuel gauge was down to 1/2 tank, she drove me crazy until I filled it back up!

Looking for 76 with mostly cloudy today!
I sense some yard work on the horizon?
