Good morning all, 41° this morning, we were expecting colder as we covered the tomatoes last night...

Chad - that house project is really something. The pouring of the floor reminded me "a little" of some of the parking ramps we poured in Minneapolis.

Willie - looks like your weather is very nice, great when that happens on vacation

I got the old signs off the Crex warehouse buildings, now ready for the new decals, decided to work on the scene around the Wyoming depot for a while...

I got a bunch of ground cover down, the supervisor need a smoke break

Also, got all the lights on, one at each little settlement on the layout, here is the sawmill at night

The shutter speed on this one was an entire second, still not too blurry

more later, Dave LASM
That's good pic. Not a lot of foreground blur, and good focus further out.

So, I'm gonna shift gears (geez! that's some kinda stronga coffee in that cuppa!).

Life. Whether itsa accidental or...intentionalla? Nah, I've stretched the language more than a bit too far.

Ok. Shifting gears now.

Read: Bill Bryson's book: "A Short History of Nearly Everything." But more specifically the first few pages of the chapter entitled "The Rise of Life."

Or...go here: https://erenow.net/common/shorthistory/21.php

And read the chapter up to the word "wow!"

To my satisfaction, and despite the fact that Bryson wasn't trying to prove an intelligence behind all of this...he did. Oops!

Moreover...the intelligence just happens to be a model railroader too, in his spare time. Else none of us would be able to do this.

Ken - Every five years? Mine is 1000 gal and I had it pumped twice in 40 years. No ordinances requiring it here, the governing authorities just figure that you will use common sense.
Snowman - Flo does have decaf!;)
Dave - I like the shots.
Tom O - Nicely done shots from the bench.

I have a few comments that I'll address later after the model train layout which opens at 10:00. Gotta go now.

thanks Snowman, sometimes a little luck has my back

Dave
Model photography with depth of field is a difficult problem, but, with a proper camera (probably not a cell phone), one which can keep an open shutter, can be used with a pinhole lens. Or could be used with a pinhole lens back in the day--there was an article in...RMC I think...where the author made for himself a "spider" lens. A pinhole lens sporting three bent legs/arms to hold it in place over the center of the camera's lens. It yielded some photos with a very good depth of field, albeit at the expense of a long exposure time. So not workable for "live action" shots...at least with even the fastest film of the day.

It MIGHT work now though, with a modern, high speed capable photo-cell. MIGHT being the operative word--I really don't know. I'm just speculating.

haha. Too late. I'm already on my 'leventy seventh cup...(can you tell?)

Just to point out that nothing stops you from adding a mouse to any Mac. Any normal USB mouse or other standard (wireless over USB or BT mouse) works
Ah, I should have remembered that. Some sort of mouse sized pad, I think, with what looks like a Tootsie roll behind it?
My former GF had one. She was a devoted Apple user, while I am a PC guy (even Linux when needed). Just one more reason we weren't compatible.

That "short history" was a good read! Thanks for the post.

Outstanding weathering on those hoppers TomO.

Gotta get things goin this morning. I have a septic tank service coming Friday morning for my mandatory septic tank pumping. County requires it every 5 years. Unfunded mandate. I have to dig out the lawn that covers the lid.
Hope this part of the post isn't considered political. It's only about my septic tank.
I really want to say something about your tank, but I won't.

Since Labor Day, in addition to Joe Nameth, and William Shatner pitching "free" medicare Part C Plans, and Trial Lawyers selling their services for any slight hurt, we are inundated with political advertising. Three states worth and It's always the same message, the other person is so wrong on everything, targeted to the extreme ends of the spectrum. This make me wish for the election to be over.

Last night the Baltimore Orioles beat Boston 14-8, in a game delayed by weather. That gave them 80 wins for the season. One more win and they are guaranteed a .500 season. Two more wins, a winning season. Last year on the same date, their record was 52 wins and 110 losses. Go O's Go!

Currently, it's 67° going to 75°. This mornings low was 52°. It will be pleasant and sunny. :) There is a 40% chance of rain, Saturday night through Monday Night.

You can plug in any USB mouse or connect a BT mouse. Just like on a PC.

They also make the large BT based touchpad (which I use on all my computers -- I was gifted one a long time ago and started using it and became a convert)... The original one had the tootsie roll (the one I have). The later version is a wedge.

Would Joe Nameth sell more free Medicare wearing his old pantyhose though*?

[* if you have to ask, just forget it...and be glad you don't remember]
