Thanks, Joe,Dave: Thought so, something about the Varney 2-8-0, that causes it to be distinct. Bowser sold them later, but they were lost behing the PRR steamers they acquired from Penn Line. Is that a Walthers Roco SW-1 or an old Lindberg / Revell? Just curious. There were some interesting products back in the early 60s some actually OO scale. Beautiful sunrise.
I finished worked it over with lube and put it together (the 4-6-0) I think you referred to it as a 2-8-0 but it is the "casey jones" model which very closely resembles the Baldwin S-10 that Northern Pacific purchased around 1902-1907.
Boy, that really did the trick, picks up power quicker from the track and runs much smoother. There was a plate under the wheels that came off and I cleaned out the old oil and re-oiled that, power from one track comes in that way and that must have been the weak link. I also added the front coupler, which is a "dummy" but odly works, I switched some box cars yesterday and was able to use the new front coupler to help with the shifting.
We have a beautiful morning, I worked around the homestead all day yesterday, also got this little project done in the train room, made the cover for the lift out handle

first cut out a piece of wood the right size then put some cardboard over the top and added ground cover

put some greenery on it and had to trim the wax paper, which became part of it
Here is a pic from further back, you can see I have it really clean under 3 sides of the layout, it is resting on a few wood legs, I think it makes the room look bigger to not have the underside covered
Have to go back and read more posts
