OK -- This is good!

Well, late one afternoon, the Air Force folks out at Area 51 were very surprised to see a Cessna landing at their "secret" base.
They immediately impounded the aircraft and hauled the pilot into an interrogation room.
The pilot's story was that he took off from Vegas, got lost, and spotted the Base just as he was about to run out of fuel.
The Air Force started a full FBI background check on the pilot and held him overnight during the investigation. By the next day, they were finally convinced that the pilot really was lost and wasn't a spy. They gassed up his airplane, gave him a terrifying "you-did-not-see-a-base" briefing, complete with threats of spending the rest of his life in prison, told him Vegas was that-a-way on such-and-such a heading and sent him on his way.
The day after that though, to the total disbelief of the Air Force, the same Cessna showed up again.
Once again, the MP's surrounded the plane...
Only this time there were two people on the plane.
The same pilot jumped out and said,
"Do anything you want to me, but my wife is on the plane and you have to tell her where I was last night!"

Need to head to Costco today or tomorrow. Wife baked the last batch of Ghirardelli brownies. Said I had to restock before I left for a week. Better check on Brisket. Supposed to be good grilling weather the rest of the week.
My wife makes most everything from scratch. Except for brownies because she says, "Ghirardelli is great and so easy!"

Your grilling always sounds good.

Have a safe trip.

I spent time yesterday using our Bissell Carpet cleaner to clean upholstery on a few pieces of furniture in our guest house. Each of our daughters have lived there for a couple years while they complete their gruduate degrees. Amazing how much dirt comes off furniture.

Good Morning All. Clear, calm and a bit on the cool side, at least for this time of year, at 61°, with a high today of 88°. Mid to upper 90's towards the weekend. No rain in the forecast for now. Our ever thoughtful farmer who grows wheat next door, plowed his very dry and dusty field yesterday. Thoughtful because the wind was from the north and all of the dust blew away from me and a couple of other neighbors who's homes are close to that field. He generally watches for stuff like that, especially when he's spraying fertilizer on that field.

Not a lot happening in my world yesterday, After Mass, it was do dishes and some yardwork.

I did get out to the train shed yesterday and resumed where I left off last week. I added some trees to the area between the new Farmco and the Ramones Storage building.

Not done there yet, but that is all of the trees that I had in stock. There will be a short shrub-like one in front of that backdrop screw. Picture shows that some touchup paint is needed at the base of the backdrop as well.
On the other side, I painted the 7-11 site, getting the parking area and some brown ground ready.

I'll do ground cover to fill in next.
This picture shows the interior of the 7-11, which is what I will be doing to the Farmco building as soon as I decide which picture to use.

Sherrel - Hopefully that rain gives CalFire a rest.

Ooops! Out of time right now, Mama is calling. I'll be back later with more shots of the road trip.
Everybody have a great day.

In other news, it appears that since Labor Day, the Orioles have run out of gas...It was nice while it lasted.
Oh, my Crabby friend,

I never expected the playoffs this year. I would enjoy it!
"It aint over till it's over" Is there any need to credit Yogi for his quotes?

I look at it this way. So, we lost six out of the last ten? The baby birds were competitive in nine of those ten games. The Blue Jays are seventeen games over .500 and the Red Sox are only three games under. Both tough opponents. Yesterday was a 1-0 loss and the birds are still 6 games over .500.

Who knows the way Camden Yards plays now with the wall moved back. We might even attract a free agent starter in the off season. I can dream, can't I? Either way we are ok. The system is stocked with strong live arms.

For me it is all about improvement, not a playoff race. I see better days on the horizon.

From what I have seen so far. Orioles' rookie catcher Adley Rutschman is the real deal!
Most hitters are what I call 'cripple hitters", they only hit the pitchers' mistakes hard. Rutschman is rare, he can hit the pitchers best hard! Like any great hitter he has to be looking for it, but he can do it! Most can't hit a good pitch, even if they are looking for it.

Did you ever wonder why some hitters are extremly streaky? It's not always timing or swing mechanics. Some are guessers. Guess wrong and bad things usually happen. The way to end that kind of streak? Be patient, sit dead red down the middle and hope for a mistake.

I miss coaching :( Oh well, I can still talk to the TV! :D

I'm back. Here are a few more pictures from the Will Rogers Gardens in Oklahoma City. This was a pleasant surprise on our road trip Friday.
As I posted Saturday though, nothing there is labeled so I have no clue as to what any of this stuff is.

All of the plants here seemed to be well established, so they must take the 100° days OK.

This plant was especially colorful.

These grassy areas are picnic areas. They apparently also have exhibits and events on some of them. I saw posters for some, but none were scheduled for the time that we were there.

If you're ever in OKC, it's certainly a nice place to visit and it's free.

Thanks Willie. Well done

One of the places usually on our list of “must” see when we visit around the USA are arboretums or public gardens. Always enjoyable and a great way to relax from the rigors of automobile travel!

Nice pictures!

I'm getting ready to commission a couple custom N gauge locomotive paint jobs.

I'm modeling a section of the Ohio Central along teh Ohio River, but I can only find 1 factory painted N gauge diesel locomotive in Ohio Central's old Maroon, Yellow and Gray paint scheme. The one I found is an Atlas ALCO C420 which is great, but I need a couple more locos. Since teh C420 is medium size frame, I wanted a larger locomotive and a switcher to round out the stable.

I'm in discussions with Jeff Gowers from Virginia. He has an undecorated MP-15 that I'm going to have him paint similar to this SW1500 but will drop the "Pittsburgh" as teh only N scale decals I have found are just "Ohio Central System"

The other locomotive I have is an undecorated Dash 8. Ohio Central has never had a Dash 8, but they did have a few SD40T-2s, and teh Dash 8 is very close in size and shape, so that's what I decided to go with.

I'm not really into being super precise when it come to prototypes, so it's really just the paint schemes I'm looking to get.
Here's a pic of the SD40T-2 that he will use as a huide for the Dash 8.

Hopefully, we can work out the details and he can get started soon!

Well, howdy there again.

Made the TarGet run, got more Walley's Wallaby sweets... Gonna need some later today ( I hope)

With my upcoming trip, I want to get an Omicron booster shot (this will be number 4 in the cycle)

Called my local CVS and spent 10 minutes talking to the darmn phone robot...:eek:🤧 argh! I hate those...

If you want to check vaccine availability, it makes you schedule via online... OK, I did that... still doesn't say if it's the Omicron version

OK, I'll go in at 12:30 and cancel the shot if it's the older version.

Dumbarse phone robot...o_O

If you are using a Android phone, there is an app called Google Lens. You open the app, point the phone's camera at the item, snap a photo and the app will tell you what it is. Sometimes it gives you multiple results so you can compare. Works on lots and lots of things not just plants and flowers. I tried it on an old box car I have just for grins, sure enough, came up with Trix from Austria circa 1962. I'm sure IPhones have something similar. Also, I think Microsoft had/has something call Microsoft Lens.
I've used it several times when the kids sent the wife flowers. "Oh, those are pretty, wonder what they are"?

the USA is no longer the biggest supplier of arms to Ukraine……

been overtaken……

by the Russians……

think it through…lol
Yep, those guys finally finding out they were lied to and are tired of the whole BS that's going on. People in Russia are protesting, most haven't heard if there loved one are alive or not, food shortages, high inflation, and so on. It's turning into a big mess over there.

Afternoon All,

Took Dad to the VA this morning that turned into a major pain in the butt. Typical overbooking. Wife will make it home around 7 pm tonight. This afternoon I cut a thin strip of fascia for the end of the peninsula (in back of electronics). Tomorrow I hope to make it to Lowes for a last piece of fascia.

Tom- That's funny. I looked H&R up on internet and it appears to be open.

TomO- What I remember most about Viet Nam growing up was the weekly body count on national news. The screen that showed American dead, wounded, and missing. Every week for years. My Dad and 2 Uncles went and luckily all came home.

Troy- Be prepared for rain.

Willie- Nice layout shots. Have a nice trip.

I hope everyone has a good night.
