Good morning from the loveseat in the living room. It’s 61f degrees feeling like 58 and only getting to 73. Yesterday’s prediction was 74 but we never made it out of the 60’s. Not nice enough this morning for the walk or sitting on either deck. Terry watched TV news with the sound going direct to her hearing aides.

1/2 hour will be done on the treadmill today and then a 1/2 hour swimming laps. I have to adjust as the weather cools and the sunrise is getting later. In the woods even with a flashlight I feel uncomfortable.

I spent some of the morning and much of the evening yesterday at the workbench.

Not shown here, I am also weathering some 2bay covered hoppers for Alcomotive aka James. You can find that ongoing process in the weathering forum, under my Continous rolling stock thread.

The 2 tractors are from Circuscitydecal.com and are excellently done 3D resin prints. These 2 are for a buddy but I do have 2 of my own. Practice with his before mine! Usually it’s the other way. I see the chip that either I fix or switch it out with one of mine.

Other then weathering the 2 bay covered hoppers today I will be vacuuming portions of the layout today. I want to finish off the Transload facility especially the concrete pavement. It definitely needs cleaning up.

finally! The facade building is getting closer. I need to add the straps to the downspout. add the built but not shown steps and platform. The signs are still in my mind, the collectors for rainwater have been started. These will get added to the top of the downspouts. I am re-thinking the bricked up roll up door area. Oh yeah, the framing around the doors. If I work on it 30 minutes a day, I figure maybe next weekend I can get this to the spray booth

enjoy the day

Made an appoint with mechanic to have the A/C in the P/U serviced, but he said he couldn't do it until the 9th. G-Son has not brought the car back - today the spouse said - so on the way home from mailing a package to the Son - I stopped at O'reilly's and sitting on a rack just inside the door was A/C service stuff. I asked the counter person if that stuff really works, and he said only if you follow the directions ... so I bought a can home with me and followed the directions to the "T". It did help a little, but it is still not as cold as it should be; now I have a decision to meke - do I live with what I have, or risk a "new" compressor - which I think may be at fault -- can they bypass, or leak internally where the freon is not all getting where it is supposed to be? Some if you mechanical people give me a hint! I really don't want the expense right now of the cost to replace it - if that's the reason.
Sherrel Did that recharge can of freon have a gauge on it some do so you can tell if fully charged Other then that make sure your condenser is clear It is in front of radiator normally or the blend door under your dash is partially open Other then that take it in and at least checked out a new compressor $$$$ and if it is compressor could be bits of metal in the system so new condenser more $$$$
I still have two 30# bottles of R12 probably should sell it going for $1000 per ea

Hadn't really thought about it but may not be a bad idea. I had some kind of heart scan done last year and it came out mostly good. Nothing that appeared imminently threatening. It's better today so I'm thinking I'm just suffering from a bad case of getting older 😂
I find when I use my bow flex and do an exercises, it pulls my ribs really bad after about two weeks. No harm in getting checked out.

The man definitely loves longgggg trains

Given the route he is doing, it is trying to be "prototypical". I've passed some really long, long, long trains going up I-80 to Evanston, which parallels the UP tracks.

My BIL lives in Evanston and he is trying to start an ice cream shop. He wants to put a model train in the window due to Evanston's history as a coaling/water stop for UP.

Good evening. The Orioles slipped backward one game today, losing to Oakland 5-0 :(. What was worse was that the lowly Washington Nationals, embarrassed the Mets for the second game in a row. The Amazins are suddenly barely holding on to first place, folding reminiscent to the 1964 Philadelphia Phillies.:(:rolleyes:

The family has been here since Friday, and we spent another enjoyable day and enjoyed a great dinner, consisting of Ham, Mashed Potatoes, Corn on the cob and Tomato Mozzarella Salad. Followed by fresh fruit and ice cream served over Angel Food Cake. They have to leave in the morning tomorrow, as School starts Tuesday Morning. (Currently enroute to NY State).

Somehow, this post disappeared as I was writing it last night, but equally mysteriously reappeared when I opened up the forum, so I'm posting it as is.

Good afternoon. Been house cleaning as the Girls decided that 4 AM would be as good time to get up. Went to the grocery store and got a few things for my home made dog food addition to their kibbles. Almost 15 bucks for a package of skinless chicken breasts. Told the girl at the checkout counter that they should have pacemaker batteries at checkout. They would make a killing. Took the girls to the dog park and now getting ready to watch some YouTube videos.

Jaz - Never had a problem with any of my dogs biting. The only problem is that they can be bed hogs. Dachshunds can have back issues being that their body is so long.

Berrychon - Here's a sunset from Montana.

Ken - Enjoyed the video. Have you taken any more recent videos of your layout?

TomO
- Enjoyed the photos. Are the dozers 3D printings?

Again, more from the archives.

Afternoon All,

Did a couple of chores earlier and helped the wife pull some things out of the garage for her trip Wednesday. I'm going to do the static grass tomorrow (hopefully). Dad flies in around 7 pm. I've been watching Doc Martin episodes. I find him hilarious.

Thank you for the photo likes yesterday.

Ken (IL)- Great video and photos.

Chet- Nice looking dogs and layout shots.

Ken (D&J)- That layout is huge.

Alan- Interesting fix. I never had much luck with passenger cars.

Willie- Nice progress.

TomO- Great weathering on the building and the flat is really looking good also.

I hope everyone has a good night.

You can't fix a problem if you're not sure what the problem is, let a professional look at it, they will easily ascertain if there is a problem with your compressor or just needs regassing, or you have a small leak, once you know that, you can decide what you want to do.
Let two professional look at it
1. Get two prices
2. If they agree on the problem then it should indeed be the problem
3 if they disagree try a third

Excellent water, love the texture, oooh oooh you could just add a very small touch of white like whenever the sun hits water ripples…..fingers itch lol

edit…no no took a second look there is white it is perfect

Louis - I haven't decided whether or not I like my new electric mower that I use for those hard to reach places that the tractor won't fit. Mine is a battery powered Ryobai so I don't have to be concerned with the cord. It does not do what is advertised which is run for 45 minutes or do 3/4 acre on a single full charge. Not that I would plan on using it for that much anyway. It also seems to be made for "fairway" height grass and gets bogged down in some of the rougher areas of my yard.
Wille, I'm sorry to hear thar. I will however keep that in mind when it is time to replace my mower, thank you.
I thought about a battery-operated mower. I decided against it because it was heaver. I made my choice strictly on overall weight. It turned out to be the lowest price as well.
My corded electric mulches even tall 6"-7" wet grass. I have to slow down when I hear the blade slowing down, but I can keep mowing through the heavy parts.
I'm sure it would help if I sharpened the blade. in the nearly six years I have had it I have yet to sharpen the blade.
As yours is new I doubt sharpening the blade would help.

Evening all,

No trains but that's on me, I fell asleep after lunch and woke in enough time to do the dogs, now working on supper. Steak fajitas. We make them too big, but they are still tasty. One more trip about 7ish to feed the dogs and run them outside. They figured to be home by 9ish. Hopefully the get home safely.

Good afternoon, all. A rather hazy day here in Houston, with the sun peeking out on occasion.

Chet - some nice photos, especially the hobo camp. Reminds me of home

Well, I've been whittling away at the Keystone Mill. You will note that there are boards at the left end of the building, just below the windows. In the instructions, it shows a card with each wall of boards. Not in my kit. Asked if they were missing. Answer, no they don't come that way in N scale. The directions are for HO. Stated there was enough individual boards to cover the building. You are required to cut and glue each and every board that goes on the building. That is the left end, the overhang, the face of the dormer and the entire back side. I think I will be still gluing pieces on come Christmas.

Thanks Chet for sharing the layout pictures.

yes, they are 3D resin prints from Circuscitydecals.com. T190 Kbota Cat skid steer. Nicely done and very little sanding on my end to do.

Curt thanks. I needed something a bit different then weathering rolling stock

Today might have been the most time in the train room since I was building it in 2014/15. 7 hours already.

Working some more on the building facade front

Weathering 2 bay covered hoppers

I spent literally 1 hour on Facetime walking a buddy through how to build scrap loads. I even weathered a gondola as we talked after I built the load! But, he was very happy and has another 9 to do for a show in Oregon next weekend

Weathering the concrete lot for the Transload facility, if the last layer ever dries this year I will go back to add the concrete crack seams that I forgot

A great day with lots done. Even went with Terry to buy Beef Tenderloin at $8.98 per pound already trimmed. No soda sales today which was surprising. But, she only was looking for the tenderloin. It’s really the only beef she eats. It’s a great change from the fish, shrimp, pork and chicken we generally have together. When she eats Salmon though I do have steaks to eat!

enjoy the evening

Love all your freight cars TLOC. Once I get all these house projects done, I plan on doing the same thing this winter. Creating some nice-looking rolling stock.

Spent about 2 hours in the train room this afternoon. I have been reviewing some vehicles I have purchased over the years and will take them with some other excess items to a local train show next month. A friend passed away 4 years ago and there are some electronic items he never got to use that I will try to sell for his wife.
I need to get the application and check in the mail tomorrow.
This is the longest amount of time I have spent in the train room this year! Happy Labor Day!
