Good afternoon. Going to make it quick. just got back from the dog park with the girls and the race at Darlington has just started.

Jaz - Great series of photos. I have this thing about dachshunds. I have had many different breed over the years, Labs, Setters, American Eskimos, and mutts, but there has always been a dachshund in the group and all dachshunds for around the past 15 years. Every dog that I have ever had were adopted from individuals or rescues.

The first two are my current family. The next with the three are Hank, Ginger, my princess who is upside down and Freeway. Hank and Ginger were adopted from the woman I visited in Idaho and freeway was going to be taken to the humane society by a friend of my son. That didn't happen. Freeway, on the left of the last photo won the tug of way with Hank. The grand kids called him the gopher Sheriff because he got 60 gophers one summer. Ginger, the long hair was very special to me. Got her as a puppy and she was always at my side.

I do want to say hello to the new guys in the coffee house.
It's nice to see new faces so to say. I was absent for a while after having to tear out my layout that I had been working on for over 30 years when I sold my home that I had been in for over 45 years.

Todd - That truck of mine did have to earn its keep. Did put a Goodwrench crate motor in it at 346,000 miles but it did Crawl all over mountains.

TomO - The grand kids sure like the dog. Mine sleep with me. It's amazing how 2 rather small dogs can take up so much room on a bed. I start out alright on a California King but in the morning I usually end up with onle a few inches of bed with my butt hanging off.

Sherrel
- It's only a few days until the 9th. You can always stay home in an air conditioned house. I know I can't handle the heat.

Berrychon - Like that sunset photo. Enjoyed the ones when I was out at sea. Something special about them.

Willie - Another project? like what you're doing. The early merchants row is across the street from the freight station. You are correct when you mentioned that the resin kits can be hard to work with.

OBTC 1909 - Loved the video and photos. Sure miss being able to run at my old club. My home layout was built for switching and I did enjoy seeing trains run distances. Appreciate the post.

I have a couple of starving girls sitting and staring at Me. I think it's dinner time.

Bierocs for dinner. Make them the easy way with frozen dough and coleslaw mix. Easier than making bread dough and trying to shred the cabbage. Thaw the dough (usually use dinner rolls), cook the hamburger, then add the slaw mix to the meat, cooking it until the cabbage it's tender, little salt, pepper, onion when cooking the meat if you like. Let the mix cool. When the rolls are thawed and raised, I usually roll them out between 2 sheets of parchment, fill with the mix, add cheddar cheese if you desire, bake at 350° for about 20-25 minutes, rotating the parchment lined sheet, pretty easy! Be sure to let them cool about 10 minutes before eating. We use 85\15 burger, so I don't usually drain the fat as there's usually not a ton anyway.

Hello Happy (und unhappy) Members, I'm back on the right track (hope so) !
Due to my total computer incompetence (and also because I'm French, I guess), I completely and permanently blocked my account "Longvallon" . So I created a new account. With a new username, of course !
As usual, a wonderful French sunrise:

And now, fire at will ! :p
Christian- who is Will & what did he do that you want us to fire at him?

Good evening all! Sorry for my time away. Hurt my ribs a couple days ago and I've mainly just been sitting with an ice pack on them. Honestly not sure what I even did to hurt them but believe me, they hurt a lot!
Our model railroad club set up its modular layout over at the Palestine, IL high school this weekend for the annual Labor Day weekend festivities. Our setup is always popular with the crowd and it's always our best chance to get together and run trains. I skipped out on it yesterday due to my rib pain but made it over there for a bit today. I took video and photos. I started a new YouTube channel for our club today and posted video from my time there today. We're hoping to get at least 100 subscribers so we can get a more memorable URL for our channel.
I've attached a few pics from the setup to this post. Hope you all have a great day!
Have you considered getting your heart checked, just in case.

The mower that I posted about this morning turned out to be an easier fix than I anticipated. A combination of a clump of grass and some pieces of mangled twigs had jammed the center (of three) blades. Of course then I had to resume mowing. Now it is getting dark and the weather radar shows that it's raining here, but there are no drops on the pool surface or dripping off the roof. I think that I will just spend some time out in the train shed.
Hey Willie, Noch have bought out a new people set, prostitution and a client in his underwear great modelling, girls have lights and screams, totally skimpy underwear and lady parts, with your layout and a firengine and ladders, and your talent for setting scenes, you need to check this out, go on you know you want to :D

Love the pups, we only ever had one rescue a Doberman he put my eldest son in hhospital bite mms from his brain supply on his head needed a plastic surgeon, mark was small but the guy said two more mms and he was dead, we kept dog BUT he was then coraled, and kids never let near him,the dog was asleep and sone bent over to stroke him dog came up fighting, for a few days husband was considering either a static security home or the vets and a coffin but sone said all his fault-was there more to it? Anyway dog lived a long life, and in the end had his back legs go we got a vet out to end his pain and husband howled like a baby, his large caged area, and our back garden had two areas one for dog and security one for kids, kids were told if they ever used the gate to go through to dog again..he would be at the vet pronto.Luckily son ok very small scar as older not even noticeable and dog was a much loved pet as boys became adults they were allowed near dog but told never ever to bend down, sons used to lean sideways to stroke him, never let him near visitors due to potential.
love littles dashes but do they get hip issues?

……oh boy I was missing in action, and now it’s me me me posting…..going lol.
be grateful I did not read all the old posts…..

Made an appoint with mechanic to have the A/C in the P/U serviced, but he said he couldn't do it until the 9th. G-Son has not brought the car back - today the spouse said - so on the way home from mailing a package to the Son - I stopped at O'reilly's and sitting on a rack just inside the door was A/C service stuff. I asked the counter person if that stuff really works, and he said only if you follow the directions ... so I bought a can home with me and followed the directions to the "T". It did help a little, but it is still not as cold as it should be; now I have a decision to meke - do I live with what I have, or risk a "new" compressor - which I think may be at fault -- can they bypass, or leak internally where the freon is not all getting where it is supposed to be? Some if you mechanical people give me a hint! I really don't want the expense right now of the cost to replace it - if that's the reason.
You can't fix a problem if you're not sure what the problem is, let a professional look at it, they will easily ascertain if there is a problem with your compressor or just needs regassing, or you have a small leak, once you know that, you can decide what you want to do.

We had a miniature Daschund, used to fall asleep on my ex wife while she had a nap on the sofa, one day he ended up between her and the back of the sofa and kept on trying to curl up, my ex kept on moving closer and closer to the edge of the sofa, eventually she fell off, my eldest and I, who had been watching, we were both ROFL, my ex on the other hand was not a happy woman, had a complete sense of humour failure, and didn't see the funny side. Ah! the good old days 🤣 🤣

A lazy day ahead here, until noon though. I have a few friends coming over to just run trains today. No organized op session, just run trains, test em, program em. fix em kind of day.

I've been subscribed to a YouTube channel of a layout build called the Evanston subdivision.
This is a large layout currently under construction. He's modeling the Union Pacific railroad between Green River, WY to Ogden, UT and providing a video progression of his work.

Good morning, all. Nice light day yesterday. Remember that passenger train vid I just posted? Well that was the first run of that train in about three years. Remember that comment about trains being like sports cars and going to hell in storage? Extensive coupler tweaking and some replacement was necessary to get everything working together again. I had some McHenry couplers on these cars, in just a few places. I do use them with brass steamers, particularly in place of dummy pilot couplers to avoid interesting electrical happenings when double heading steam. Somehow, I ended up using some under these passenger cars, don't ask me why! Darn things are not good for passenger cars, or in heavy trains! Plus, they just don't hold up over the years. Next, I had to re-replace the wheels under most of the train. Some years back the rather complicated throat trackage in our main depot required the use of a special auto-reverser, and it didn't like Walthers passenger cars. They would bridge it and cause a short, so anyone who had Walthers passenger cars (which was almost all of the passenger guys) had to replace the Wally wheels with Kadee wheels. Fast forward a few years, technology catches up, and we replace the wonky auto reversers, then install a signaling system. Rules now require that all cars be equipped with a resistor so the signaling system can "see" them. Similar to Bruce Chubb's layout, for those unfamiliar. Or search resistor wheelsets. On Wally cars you don't need special wheelsets, you can just put a resistor across the two metal tabs there for the lighting kits. They're stainless steel, so you can't solder to them. I cut a rail joiner in half, slip it over the tabs, crimp it in place and solder the resistor to that. Pics below. Getting the wheels replaced was just screwdriver work, but you have to watch the Wally trucks when you tighten the screws back up and make sure the trucks are in tram. Test them on a piece of glass and make sure all four wheels touch the glass, or you'll have no end of misery when you try and run the train. All in all, a nice light afternoon at the workbench. Today, I'll do the resistors!

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a rather cool 66° this Labor Day morning. Windows open last night for the second night in a row. No rain yesterday despite the ominous clouds and rumbling dark skies. Rained north of here for a while, but it mainly rained south in the Dallas/Ft Worth area on top of the monsoon that they also had Saturday. I don't really know what to look forward to since the forecast has been so wrong in many ways for the past week and a half.

Busy day yesterday after church; fixed the mower, then mowed for 45 minutes, did laundry - bed linen every Sunday, grilled pork chops and zucchini, all while enjoying two separate trips into the pool. Today I will be mowing the last part of the yard, pruning tomato plants, splitting wood, and who knows what else.

Thanks for the likes and comments regarding my layout progress; Christian, Patrick, James, Tom O, Hughie, OB Ken, Rick, Gary, Sherrel, Curt, Chet, Mike, Guy, Tom.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I split my time between watching trains run, and finishing up on the Pikestuff retail structure. Since I plan to light the interior of the front section, I started by painting the underside of the white roof with gray primer to prevent a glowing roof.
IMG_1598.JPG

Added the roof trim.
IMG_1600.JPG

And set it in place where I hoped it would fit.
IMG_1601.JPG
IMG_1602.JPG

A little tight but I think that it will work.
IMG_1603.JPG

No room for parking out front and the road will only have 8.5 scale ft. lanes, not unlike many rural and lightly used roads around here. There's a few more details like downspouts that need to be added, and I have a bag full of other Pikestuff roof details to look through. No roof details came with this kit. I'll work on that stuff next while painting the ground and backdrop; and making a blacktop road out of tarpaper.

Christian - How the hell does anyone "nuke their account" here??? I've been using the same user name and password here for 11 years - easy to remember unlike banks etc., that require a new one every 90 days.
Jaz - Best wishes on the ongoing recovery. Hated to read of what happened. Nice water scenes. I haven't seen the newest Noch figure set. They have always produced some risque scenes, but I have only one.
OB Ken - Good luck with the rib recovery. I liked the video.

Everybody have a great day.

I had subscribed to Daryl for years on his previous N scale layouts and those had some stunning scenes. His move to HO while a surprise is understandable. This massive build, especially as a lone wolf, has been amazing at the speed he works at. His collection of high end rolling stock and his massive fleet of locomotives put together in about a years time is a knock out.

He does some things differently then I would but he is getting the most value out of his space. I look forward to his Sunday videos

The man definitely loves longgggg trains

Good morning all! 71 and overcast heading for 78 and possible rain. Thanks to all for looking in on the pics and video I posted. I'm planning to dig up video from past years and upload it to the YT channel as well.
Last day of a 3 day weekend. No big plans for the day. Hoping to get a little done around here today. Hope you all have a great Labor Day!
