Followup to the previous post. There is never yet...or has never been yet...a good time to reveal this bit of personal history. But for whatever reason this is probably the night.

One of my two younger brothers (they were twins, although quite different) put the wrong end of a "Thirty-Aught-six" (a large caliber rifle) into the wrong end of his mouth and pulled the trigger. This was around the early eighties, so he's been dead now longer than he ever was alive.
----
I'm going to be very clear and explicit about this this so that no one thinks they will offend me or disturb me or twist me somehow. Don't worry about it. If you feel a need to address it, you won't offend me--I just told you I can take it.

My brother pulled the trigger and blew the back half of his head all over the wall he was living in.

I can deal with it, and even accept it almost casually now. So if you mention it, don't worry. I can always handle it.

But, and that said, I guess it still guts me, even today. Which is why, maybe, the adult beverage(s).

Just FWIW. In case anyone wonders why I yammer on too much, for one thing. I guess I've always wanted to burst loose and sob over all of it...but there hasn't been the place or time...or even the place and time together.

-------------

And all that said, and even though I have (as far as I remember) never even touched a firearm, I FULLY support the Second Amendment: The right to bear arms. 100%, no qualifications. 100%.

So there you have it. My own REAL background.

Meh.

Good morning from a rather wet Wisconsin. 65f now the high later is guessed at 67. It rained on and off yesterday and it was heavy between midnight and 1:30am when I finally went to bed. Per the WeatherChannel app it hasn’t stop though it’s just a drizzle now until noon!

This is the next big project on the UP of Michigan layout. A Ai representation of Agate Falls. He texted us he was going to cut the frame out today to setup for the falls. The area is 18” deep x 72” long. I told him I can’t help on it till December and the other scenery guy is still recovering from deviated spectum surgery. He texted this morning he’ll wait to cut the frame

Enjoy the day
Are you actually going to model this sequence of falls in HO? If so, I have some advice.

Morning all

- Coffee is great!
- Beach Volleyball is also great! The Swiss Teams are always on top!

How's everybody doing?

I was up at 2am again. tummy not sitting quite right. thought it was too much cheese dip from the Mexican place.

So I made a cup of green-ginger tea and came down to the recliner. Started reading the interwebz and realized I was scratching my right wrist.

Hmmm... yep, there's a bug bite. Tis the season for the spiders to come inside. And I seem to be on their menu.

So a liberal schmere of benadryl gel later, and things are settling down.

I was never a big Narnia fan. Hearing that religious themes ran through it, more-so than Tolkien or Dune, wasn't what I wanted to read in my teen years. And seeing the uproar now about the voicing of Azlan, well, now I'm intrigued. Especially once I realized that Uncle Andrew was Daniel Craig. And the director (Greta Gerwig) has an intriguing resume.

Still, neither the wife nor I like hitting the theatre any longer. No pause button for potty breaks.

Oh.Something I forgot I was going to post.

The Port Burwell scene I'm leaning toward modelling with the railline and pier heading into Lake Erie and seeing Boomer's version of River Road way over in BC got me to wondering what Lake Eerie would look like for water effects.

And I was right around the corner from Port Burwell. Wife and I stopped in Port Rowan a few years ago:

the peninsula to the background is Long Point nature preserve. Port Burwell is on the other side of that. So I'm in the correct area, on the same lake.

Here's Boomer's version of the water.

Yep, his technique is what I'm looking for to do that little part of Lake Eerie

Good morning all!

Cloudy and 57F with light drizzle this morning High is only going to get in the low 60s.

Not much going on today. Have a load of laundry, dishwasher empty, and general pick-up to do this morning.

Have a volleyball game tonight that is away. This us our last away game of the season. Last two games next week are both at home.

Have a sage day everyone!

Good morning gang!

67° under partly cloudy skies, only supposed to get up to about 71° and breezy late with a chance of rain.

Going out to dinner later tonight, don’t know where. It’s our seven year wedding anniversary and I told the wife to pick a restaurant. As of 630 this morning when I left for work, she still had not decided. Might be something fancy, might be Taco Bell.

Morning all,

67° and drizzly this morning. Overall we've gotten 3.6" of rain over the past 48 hours or so. Supposed to get colder through out the day. I didn't wear my jacket so it probably will.

Nothing going on yet this morning, so I'm not sure what the day will bring.

Karl: Happy Anniversary. "Take her to Cambodia and spend more than a dollar..." Guess the movie! 🤣 It popped into my head as I was reading your post.

Well, turning in a bit early tonight as I have a hospital appt tomorrow with the eye doc. Will be waiting all day for the 15 minute consult, but I need for him to know what is going on. I need some good news or any news because when I walked to the post office today, I found that balance wasn't good and I had to really work on seeing straight. Not very reassuring. I had a brief moment of regret in doing the procedure, but remembered that recovery may take a while.

I sat in my car last night and ran the engine for about 15 minutes to ensure that the blood was circulating and the battery got some juice. Listened to the Midnight Express soundtrack for a bit.

Anyway, you folks get some coffee in and enjoy your day!

I yammer on too much,
Many times, it is enjoyable to read your yammers. I don't mind reading any of your yammers. I'm glad you are with us.
Might be something fancy, might be Taco Bell.
Sitting across from her you will feel like the luckiest guy in the joint, no matter where you end up.
Happy Anniversary
It popped into my head
You never cease to amaze me. I've forgotten more than I remember, and I wonder if you ever completely forget anything.

Good morning Everybody!

No work for me today. Not my best morning, I'm expecting better before noon.

Old Baseball News! Tarik Skubal - Jacob Misiorowski the much-anticipated matchup was anticlimactic. But the game did not disappoint! A combined 7 and 2/3 scoreless innings from the bullpens. I'm hoping for a rematch of the two Aces, preferably one that lives up to the billing. Watching great pitching is always fun.

Play Ball!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 72°, predicted to get into the mid-80's today after 94° yesterday. And what's this? There's moisture in the rain gauge from overnight. Guess that the NWS didn't see that coming; nearly 0.1", which ain't much. Current forecast is for 98% chance of thunderstorms starting around 7pm, which may produce .75" of rain. Tomorrow's high in the low-60's.

Back on schedule today with the weekly grocery trek. At present, the Vitamin Shop and post office are also on the itinerary. I'm sure that my wife has other places in mind. Need to make a trip out to the dumpster before it rains, got a wagon load of cardboard scrap to unload.

While still not in the full modeling mode yet out in the train shed, I have decided on a small project to do. My last remaining laser-cut wood kit (that I am aware of), just jumped off the shelf at me, so I am going to build it.

I actually have already built one of these kits, but I liked it so much that I got another. Two trackside structures and a bunch of metal detail parts. I didn't use either structure as a trackside building, opting to use them elsewhere. One is a backyard shed located in Vernon.

The other is behind an A/C business also in Vernon.

While not out in the train shed, I did start to sort some of the pictures that I took while on vacation. I'll post some of them soon.

Tom O - Prayers and best wishes for Terry with tomorrow's lung biopsy.
Troy - Never had cheese dip affect my tummy. Salsa or enchiladas yes!
Karl - Happy Anniversary to you and the missus.

One hit wonder Barry McGuire (Eve of Destruction), is 91 today. He was also an uncredited performer on several Mamas & Papas recordings.

Everyone have a great Thursday.

Good morning folks. 69°F and a light shower passing through before the next cold front comes through later tonight. From a high of 79°F today to a high of 55°F tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it and will fire up the grill for chicken and brats. Storms later this afternoon and evening ahead of the front and then dry.

Happy anniversary Karl!

Half-dose (12.5mg) of Metoprolol seems to be working so far. Heart rate came up to 60 at rest. Dizziness has subsided and no shortness of breath. Last night was the first time I slept until 0630 since, well I can't remember. I woke up rested and alert for a change. I'm hoping to feel continued improvement as I'm weaned off of this drug. Antibiotics were finished yesterday and should be out of my system by late today or tomorrow. Everything seems to be working as designed after that last round.

Might run trains later today after lunch. Might have a beer too, but the jury is still out on that decision. I might play my newest guitar too. I haven't even picked it up since all of these health issues started last month. At the time it was more weight than my Doctor said I should be picking up, so it has just been hanging on the wall since then.

Nothing else going on here. I haven't seen the neighbor's house being shown yet, but I hope it sells. This is where my Ford Turbo-Diesel alarm clock lives. I know they have over-priced it or someone would have looked at it by now.

Have a safe Thursday if you're in the path of this frontal system.

Servus!

I posted a cartoon yesterday about Ilhan Omar. I posted it for the humor value as it was not a hard core political statement of any kind, just the behavior of political parties in Washington, be it one party or the other.
I guess someone found it offensive as it has been removed.
I found it no more offensive than all the firearms pictures that are posted that support one political parties view on the second amendment over another political parties agenda.

Social Security benefits will rise 3.6% next year, the biggest cost-of-living bump since 2023. For the average retiree, that works out to about $75 more a month, lifting the typical check to roughly $2,170 starting in January.
You can bet your sweet ass Medicare will eat 3.2% of that raise.

John

Happy Anniversary Karl

- Sorry about what you've had to live with. Unfortunately, as a 16yo I came across a neighbors daughter that had taken her life and I had to make the call to the authorities.
