Good morning, Coffee Shop!
DINER_COFFEE CUP.jpg

It's Tuesday, 69°F (20.5°C) and partly cloudy in Tipton.

Have a great day! ;)

Good morning all!

Currently partly cloudy and 68F. High for today is supposed to reach 79F. There is a slight chance of rain later this morning but not a big one. Better chance later tonight thru the overnight hours. Temps will then nosedive and fall will be back in the air.

Usual stuff around the House today. Sheets need to be done, dishwasher emptied, things like that.

Not much else going on at the moment. Wife and daughter go back to work and school today after a 4 day weekend.

Have a safe say everyone!

How's Everybody doing, eh?
(a little Boomer intro for y'all)

I crashed hard last night about 8p... laying on the couch for 15 minutes to see if a 15 minute nap could give me a second wind. About 9p I woke and stumbled up to bed.
Awake at 2 am brain fully awake.

Last nasty day of summer today. I was lying in bed thinking I should put the AC vent in the window for tonight, just to keep our upstairs cool enough to sleep.

Spent some of yesterday watching boomer. I like his water method.... BUT I cannot find GAC 500 anywhere. Turns out it's discontinued by Golden.

GAC 800 is a thinner variety according to the AI overlords.

He's mixed the Soft Gel Semi-gloss with the GAC medium, and sponging it on over his sponge-stippled effects to simulate the river where his barge and ramp sit.
Full vid here.

This looks sooooo much easier, and less messy than with resin pours.

Now, I'm curious how Tom O will do his waterfall?

Troy all waterfalls will be done using the Boomer Diorama method using the GAC500. Purchased recently

This will be the 3rd area the team will use Gac500 so the big bottle has been worth it. The falls should deplete the supply we haven left. There are other materials you can substitute and we have done waves successfully before with Elmer’s Glue All. I think the world of Boomer and his methods. But when it comes to his materials, he buys top quality supplies. But he also tells you that.

Gemini suggested just now that GAC200 is a great substitute

67°F and clear this morning. Heading for 95°F today in the middle of October.

Cardiologist at 0830, then my day is mine like all the others. I hope I won't have to turn on the A/C today. It stays comfortable in the house for several days when it heats up outside, but that doesn't last forever. Yesterday it never rose above 85°F in the house, but with little humidity it stayed nice.

Nothing else going on here today. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Servus!

I got an email notification that one of my packages is now in Japan. Tried to verify it on the USPS tracking website, but of course, nothing opens. I think I get access to that site less than 10% of the time. They must think that it might be better if I not know where my packages are.

Good morning from Wisconsin. My ears are still (literally) ringing from being at the Brewer game last night. Wow! I have been to 1,000 + games over my lifetime and never have I been to one that loud from batting practice to the final out when the place really exploded. Lambeau is loud, the old Chicago stadium for the Black Hawks was deafening, the United Center for the Bulls and Hawks was occasionally, the Seahawks in Seattle and close maybe the Vikings. But last night was surreal and worth it! The roof was open or it would have been even louder. The only time it seemed anyone sat was between innings. I had 2 extra tickets as the granddaughter and a friend of the grandson couldn’t come. Terry’s youngest brother (the remaining good one) and his girlfriend took them and joined us. I could have sold them in parking lot for around $500 each.

It was still 81 at 9:30 when we got home last night. I flipped the a/c on as it was 78f in the house. We keep the A/C at 76 and the heat at 72. It took maybe 30 minutes to cool the place down. Sleep though was intermittent all night.

64f degrees now only 74 later. Sunrise is at 7:09 or 40 minutes from as I write this. The long range forecast calls for high 70’s at times for the balance of the month but no more 80’s.

Waiting for Terry to see what we might do today. If nothing I will be at the bench at times today

Enjoy the day

about the boomer topic.

i see boomer as a nice inspiration channel. as tom said he uses only TOP quality brands he knows from hes past. But hes open with us viewers about that. sometimes hes a bit to hardcore in my opinion for my liking but thats okay. i love some of his ways of doing things and that is again inspiring.

as for the products he uses, i see so many new things that he uses that some of em i try and some not. matt medium is great and is now often used in my builds.

so again, i love boomer and his river road, and also hes a great storyteller, and yes DUSTY! But sometimes hes a bit over the top. but thats okay :) I also love Dave? from Thunder Mesa Studio. hes also a great youtuber and storyteller and Builder! If you dont know his channel, go check it out!

Good Morning All!
29F @ 73% mostly clear. Yup, time to go and round up the batteries from the the outside equipment.

Got the Goat side of the Chic/goat hut almost done: 1/2 wall width of the hut with man gate, 2x4 rails for water and food ( for special buckets ), goat benches and wood chips on the floor. Maria started on the 'pull-up' outside door yesterday which should be pretty easy. Ya, leave it to Lil - Even though the 1/2 wall is ~50" high, she can jump on top and then jump out. We will have to put up wire. Funny that she still has not figured out how to jump over something; IE the old hog panel pen is ~36" and she does not attempt.

Grandma: I give up on this Tiger jigsaw puzzle!
Us: Put the frosted flakes back in the box and come to dinner.

I check in on Thunder Mesa occasionally. There is only so much of the ON3 Desert Southwest I need to model (none, actually), but his construction tips are good, as well as the artistry.

Boomer sold me on his water method. I'm not good on fiddly little details like making sure everything is sealed for a resin pour. I've been lucky so far that I've only had a few minor leaks on my gaming attempts at it. And the surface underneath was well protected.

And, Boomer's River Road harbour end is soooooo close to what I've wanted to model (except the barge. Perhaps someday? But it wasn't in my list of things I needed.) Just a small wharf that can take small cargo/fishing ships on Great Lake traffic. So, I'm watching what he's doing at that end of his River Road.

I've been working with Claude on finding replacements. I ordered the GAC 800 instead of the 200. It's thinner, so less needed to dilute the soft gel gloss. And I have some heavy gel gloss on hand as well. Just need a bit of experimenting to see how to mix (or not) for various applications.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and a warmish 75°, looking at a high of 92° later on. Current humidity level is 93% and no wind, so it's quite uncomfortable right now. A/C early today! Cold front is supposed to hit around noon Thursday and is now forecast to bring about a half inch of rain. High on Friday at 65°...25° or so lower than today and tomorrow!

Got back into the homestead groove yesterday with gathering up and hauling a load of firewood to the stacking area. Yesterday's load was green wood from a tree in the front yard, intended for '27-'28 firewood. Also, being a wind-free day, I caught up with the burn trash using my new "burn barrel". Did a couple of loads of laundry from the trip and generally just walked the estate to check things out.
Today starts with the dishwasher and then I need to trim and cut to size some of the firewood that I gathered yesterday, before I can stack it.

Haven't gotten back into the modeling mode out in the train shed, so I just ran some trains that haven't moved in a week!

Tom O - While I have been to perhaps 200 professional sports events, football, baseball, hockey and a few basketball; I have never tailgated. And locally, I have heard from attendees that the UNT tailgate parties are phenomenal. Food trucks/trailers and free beer at the local distributor tents make it easy. Some food samples are free.
Joe - Those Pacific hurricanes just bring us a lot of rain when they steer towards this direction, like the one at the beginning of this month. All of the wind has dissipated by the time that they come this far. The rain would be welcome.
Todd -

Just wait! Right now it's just because she can land on something stable. Run a wire about 8"-12" above and she won't do that any more. She will however soon discover that she can clear the 36".

Today's musical birthdays include little known vibraphonist, Terry Gibbs; who is 102 today. He played over the years with Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman and others. He was also in the band on Steve Allen's show. Paul Simon is 85 today. Keyboardist/vocalist for Chicago, Robert Lamm is 82. He sang on most of their biggest hits. Guitarist/vocalist Sammy Hagar, sometime with Van Halen is 79.

Everybody have a great Tuesday.

Cardiology appointment went well. So well in fact that my Metoprolol dose was cut in half for two weeks, and then will stop all together.

-20 pound loss in weight since last year's appointment and holding at 150, and BP of 122/80, right where he likes to see it. Heart rate was 47 at rest. That's the reason for taking me off the Metoprolol.

I just checked it while sitting here and while having coffee and it's still only at 53 bpm.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those doing battle with their dishwasher.

It's Troy again.

Today has been eventful... started out on my morning walk, and at the bottom of one of the downhill paths, it Vs into another path, climbing the same hill I just went down .... so I though I'd cut across the grassy sward in-between the two legs of the V and not have to climb so much. I usually come at it from a different direction, and only climb the leg of the V I was going down on.

So, I stepped into the grassy sward, hiking pole in my right hand, then took another step with my left foot, and down I went. Turned my ankle on the leg with sciatica, and landed on my other knee. The hiking pole didn't help, since I went to my left.

Hobbled home and iced both knee and ankle for about 20 minutes.

Still, I had chores to do, so I got to those, fired up the kamado, and put some meat on....

Kamado 1.jpg

Kamado 2.jpg

Double smoking a precooked spiral sliced ham. Got some applewood in the coal bed, and my rub on the outside.

Then for lunch, I had some steak left over from last night's dinner, so I scrounged some frozen bell peppers and onions, sautéed those, added the thin slices of steak. Let those simmer in oil while I toasted a slice of the home made sourdough bread my wife baked over the weekend. Piled the meat and veggies on the bread, covered with a slice of provolone cheese, and nuked enough to melt the cheese for an open-faced steak-n-cheese sammie.

I'm back in the recliner, icing the knee again. Will do the ankle next.

The day is starting out great. 7am and 7:30am sunrise photos with my coffee. Uneventful 8am dental appointment as usual and Nicki has an 11am PT. Nothing planned the rest of the day.
