Deterioration of the medical service.

No different here. I have an irregular heartbeat. I have had it all my life. It is on the doctors' notes about me. It is the first thing that flags up when checking the notes.

Not so long ago I saw the doctors receptionist for a repeat prescription.
"The doctor would like to see you for a check-up." she said.
A long story short. I went into hospital for four days and returned home with the original prescription I should have received from the receptionist.

That is just one of a number of things I could say.

Good morning from a wet spot on the landscape. I updated my IPhone to the newest upgrade 17.0.3 and I dislike it. I started getting weather warnings that basically said “it will begin raining”… or rain will continue. I was already ticked off that all my passwords are no longer automatic popups! I fixed the weather announcements about 4am but have to read up on the passwords. So after a beautiful day with a high of 78, it rained most of the over night. Looking out across the patio it is now drizzling but nothing about it on the new and improved weather app!

Tried to do dinner in Spring Green, Wi. about 1 hour away and the homestead of Frank Lloyd Wright and one of his masterpieces, Taliesin. There is a great burger drive-in there called Rumbleseats and we both were in the mood for great not 5 Guys priced hamburgers. Absolutely wonderful landscape on US Hwy 14 and in full Autumn colors as we drove. They were closed for the season even though we had checked the website. Hey, we are flexible and found another Autumn wonderful highway to enjoy in the fading sunlight, Wi60. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Vintage overlooking the Wisconsin River and home to the 1st Culver Restaurant, Sauk City. The Culver family and Corporate HQ are a couple miles away in Prairie du Sac also along the Wisconsin River. A beautiful area of farms, the river and hills.

I cut grass yesterday from 11 to just after 2. I edged parts of the yard starting at 10:20.

Other than my Wednesday cleaning duties (I man the vacuum cleaner) I believe the day is mine. I never set foot in the train room yesterday even to just get a soda out of my cooler! I will make up for that today.

enjoy your day

Good Morning All from a balmy Gulf Shore AL, where it is partly cloudy and 73°. We're still under the riptide warning here, and the Coast Guard and various land and air patrols are making numerous trips back and forth. Back home it's cloudy and 70° with major thunderstorms predicted for around sunset tonight. The forecast is showing 1.5" overnight with continued thunderstorms through Monday. The Weather Underground station around the corner at home shows a total of 1.3" yesterday to add to the 0.82" on Monday. I hope that it is not too late for the trees that were quite stressed when we left.

The vacation is going well for some of us. Two unrelated housemates were sick and in bed all day. The three remaining beach dwellers basically had to spend the afternoon on the deck due to the blowing sand on the beach. Wife and I were at the model train museum in Foley, about 12 miles north. More on that later. While on the beach in the morning, we saw a shark that washed up on shore in a large wave, for a couple of minutes before another wave came along that was big enough to carry it back out to sea. Of course I didn't have the camera with me.

Supper last night was excellent at an upscale Italian place that we have visited before. Prices were outrageous. The beer price was only $4 apiece, and wife's wine was $13 @ for two glasses, but the total check with tip came to $175! I didn't even have steak, just seafood alfredo.

The Gulf was rough all day. Here are the morning pictures.

By afternoon, it had subsided ever so slightly.

As I posted, we went to the Foley Railroad Museum in Foley AL. I have been there several times before on past trips. Years ago a local resident willed his large O scale Lionel layout to the museum. It came with the stipulation that had to be accessible to all ages, and it had to be free to all.
There's a group of about 20 local modelers who maintain and run it for the public three days a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I believe that the layout is 24'x80', or close to that.

A view from the same spot of the north end.

I have visited here for over ten years, seeing only minor changes to the layout. This year is different, as they had a new member who has scratch built several historical structures from downtown Foley, a block away.
Here are his first two.

The white structure on the left was the first hospital in Foley, and today is the Holmes Medical Museum.

Here it is from yesterday, I did not get a better picture since I was driving and there were no parking places anywhere nearby to stop and walk to a better vantage spot.

Here are a couple more random layout shots.

And in keeping with Chris's post above, here is UP 844.

Joe - I am content to chill out on a beach chair, but just for a short time. I do like touring local stuff, as this trip will include three model railroad museums. I do get plenty of leisure at home as well as while on vacation.

That's it for a while, I'll be back later. Everybody have a great day.

Good morning. It's 65 and clear, with a less than 1% chance of rain.
A few days ago, I was attempting to transfer some large files from an external drive to my onboard drive, and was experiencing some difficulty. After much finger-pointing, I have found the issue seems to be within one brand of processor manufacturer. After a chat with somebody from that company, they're looking into why this particular issue exists. My workaround of using another computer to transfer the files onto a USB flash drive, then onto my computer, is extremely cumbersome and time consuming, at best.
I've forwarded all the info, and what I'm having to do, to the processor manufacturer. Not that I expect anything to come of it, but I can't be the only person to experience this--just the only one to bitch to them about it.

Good morning gang!

Morning started crisp and clear at 47°. Heading to a high of 74° and cloudy later. Coffee please Flo, and scrapple , egg, and cheese sammich on a Kaiser roll please. Go ahead and throw a few strips of bacon on it too!

Another case of cork is due to land on my porch today, TV parts may be Friday. In any case I will have something to keep my weekend busy.

Louis, thanks for the vote of confidence on the TV repair. It can't be as hard as installing DCC and sound into a tiny locomotive, right??
Like these 2, right?

Morning from out here in Never, never land. It was a great day yesterday and I was able to shuffle enough stuff around to work on a sorting shelf for the laundry room. (which I had started before the dismantling of the bedrooms.
It is currently 61 and we are looking at a possible 76 today with mostly sunny and breezy.

FLO - Please to have a country breakfast this morning with a diet coke - thanks!

The boys received a "care package" from their G-parents in South Car yesterday.
Inside were two baseball gloves. They will take a lot of softening up for them to be able to do much of anything with - really nice gloves; I just wish that I were in better health to be able to "catch" with them:
Too old too soon! I'll have to do a lot of work on helping them being able to use them.

KARL - great photo -- those two actually have decoders in them? How about speakers?

I have returned. This time around I will feature some more pictures from one of the donated layouts at Traintastic over in Gulfport, MS. This is a large sprawling layout, and it's obvious that this fellow liked to build trees; or had friends who built them! Be aware that some pictures were taken through the Plexiglass and have some unintended reflections.

I don't know if the next structure is intentional, or a result of aging or something.

That's it for now, I'm going to join the housemates on the balcony. Still too much wind and blowing sand to sit on the beach, so they are joining me upstairs.

A few days ago, it was suggested that maybe our health system might have a few glitches that should be addressed, and I cited an example.
I now have a second example.
I had an annual physical in September, and with my health insurance, I had zero deductible for the physical, and insurance was supposed to pay 100% for preventive exam.
Imagine my surprise when I got a bill from the doctor for several hundred dollars today for the physical.
A call to the doctor's office was an exercise in futility, as the person on the other end of the phone was a non-English speaker.
A call to the insurance company ensued, and we discovered the doctor's office had mis-coded everything in the exam, resulting in a different payment process. The insurance company changed the bill at their end so they would pay it, since the rep got hold of the same (or another) non-English speaker at the doctor's office.
