Awesome scene...you might want to check out one of those old London buildings though. I heard Londoners are digging under their appartments to increase the size of basement, with dissastrous results😉 That second one from the camera view is a little out of plumb.
There is always someone who spots it. 🤣

The building has been corrected after the lights were taken down.

Most Lighthouses these days, are unmanned of the over 200 lighthouses in the UK only around 33 are still manned, luckily South Shields isn't one of them.

Yes, it is unmanned. Anyone can walk along the pier to the lighthouse (in good weather). No admittance. A great place to watch ships arrive or leave.

Good morning, 62°, cloudy with passing downpours. So far, ¼" of rain has fallen. Little temperature change is forecast for today.

SA-31, made its final run down the NJ Coast Line from South Amboy to Red Bank and return, yesterday. The Delaware & Raritan will begin running directly from Jamesburg to Lakewood next week. The SA - 31, may return to NJT Rails in December when the D&R begins replacement of the bridge over Lake Manalapan which is Just East of Jamesburg, NJ.

Conrail proposed this change, way back in the 1990s, while L. Stanley Crane was CEO, but the idea retired with LSC. Twenty-three years later, someone else decides it's a great idea, and spends a few bucks. Took less than a year to implement it.

Firefighter L.L.O.D. in Baltimore:
I loved the photo.

Sad news about losing one of our heroes. No word yet of the cause. At least one of the homes was vacant. I suspect homeless people were trying to keep warm.

We must lock these people up. I know I'm politically incorrect, but the cost of leaving them run lose it too high.

Afternoon All,

Started out the day running errands. After that I cut out 4- 3/8" braces 3/4" long with a 45-degree cut on one end that I forgot to cut before. I went through all my modeling stuff, and I think I will be adding thin sheet styrene (for sale signs) as the simulated steel junction plates. Just finished my phone DR appointment. She couldn't remember why it was scheduled either. 😲 It was a very short phone call.

Tom- Nice job on the spools and interesting 1:1 photos.

Terry- Well that s--ks about the derail. I think we all get cataracts as we age. I have them also.

TLOC- Sounds like good layout news.

Joe- I hope the tie plates are stronger than the old ones.

Karl- It sounds like a nice haul.

Willie- Great scene. You could see that in real life. Safe travels and have fun.

David- Nice lighting. The stern of the ship looks like they need more practice backing into the pier!:D

Sherrel- Great looking B-17.

Smudge- Interesting photos. I guess that's one way to hide the subway.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Taking a break,

Had the attic ladder out on 10 minutes, once I took a Sawzall to the darn thing. Then I forgot my trim saw, had to go back to the house, Got back and cut the 1"x 2" for the opening, then went home to get the plywood to make the opening cover. Finished! He just doesn't know it yet. Took me a little over an hour.

Then I need to make a landfill run. So the wife asks if anyone has anything. The local daughter has an adjustable bed base she needed tossed, so that queen size unit filled the bed before I got the old toilets loaded. So I did manage to get that and the rest of the stuff loaded and to the landfill.

The city used to do a spring and fall curbside pickup. It took too long to run the whole town, so they work with the county and each house can get 2 coupons to take stuff to the landfill. Much neater, and in my case, we usually combine stuff so we get 6 loads each year. Makes it so we don't have to store stuff we can't put in the normal as long.

Try to bbl.

Willie: Once again, have a safe and fun trip.

The houses were demolished in the 1860's to allow for the building of the Paddington to Bayswater underground line the majority of the houses were rebuilt after the completion but as the Underground was still steam powered it required ventilation from this and the surrounding tube station's hence these were never rebuilt.

The story goes that because this was an upmarket area of London, the locol residents insisted that a false facade be built to preserve the looks of the area.

Yeah, me too. My biggest problem with the Shinoharas was the loss of power in the point rails once the contacts broke in. Idon't think there is a commercially available switch that doesn't have some sort of problem. PECO, are probably the best, but their code 70 North American type are scarce, (and pricey).

I've just been looking for a cleaning car, the big CMX is nice but too big for my layout, so I was looking for the Bachmann damage control and cleaning car that was mentioned a while ago.

I found one on Amazon for an eye watering £130, WTF!!!!!! errrr nope, I'll get one from Kings Hobby in Austin TX and pay the postage $66 or £54, that's more like it. :)

Track cleaning cars are expensive no doubt. I've looked at the CMX tank car version but can't bring myself to spring for it. Too many other layout needs

Guess it's good old mineral spirits and a t-shirt for the time being!

We need to accept the fact that the homeless are, 1: Human beings. 2: Very Sick People. 3: A danger to the public and themselves. 4: The Homeless will not voluntarily follow the guidance of those trying to help them. 5: Criminalizing them, will not solve the problem, but in fact may exacerbate the problem.

Involuntary institutionalizing them may or may not work. Jailing them won't. Allowing them to camp out on the nearest corner or vacant dwelling is obviously not working either.

The other day, a "Homeless" individual pushed another person off the subway platform in advance of an oncoming train, in NYC. This cannot continue. They tend to congregate in Public places, where it is warm in the winter, like Penn Station, Newark. Not a nice atmosphere for "normal" railroad / bus / lite rail patrons.

Vacant structures need to be demolished.

Good evening. Fogy and close tonight, although, for now, the rain has stopped. Close to ¾" of rain has fallen locally.

Devils beat the Islanders in overtime 5-4. They are now 2-1-1 for the season. Meanwhile, Arizona is hanging tough, and the Phillies are having trouble putting them away tonight. How 'bout Houston putting a hurting on the Texas Rangers? Down 2-0 to 1 game away from clinching the AL Pennant. Never underestimate ole Dusty.

From what I understand, the Delaware & Raritan train, returning from Lakewood, came off the Southern at Farmingdale and Ran East on the Freehold, with the Southern Train to Jamesburg. No new photos recording this event were published yet..

Phillies just blew a 5 - 3 lead in the bottom of the 8th... two outs, and a Phillies pitching change. Arizona not quitting.

Tonight on the layout, I have two building projects moving along. A Walthers "Vulcan MFG Co" - a 19th century steel mill building, which I'm patterning from buildings built by Roebling Steel in the late 1800s along Canal St, in Trenton, NJ. I may even build up the loft on one side, although it will not be visible when looking at the layout. I'm also building a small two story building suitable for food products or 40'box cars. Photos tomorrow.

Update: Phillies lose to Arizona 6-5 in regulation. Bull pen failed them again. Series tied 2-2.

Astros lead the series 3-2

The little man Jose Altuve comes up big again! A go ahead three-run homerun in the top of the nineth. It looked like a pitcher's pitch. A two-seam fastball down and in. Altuve must have been looking for it. As Mel Allen would say "how about that!"
