Same Ol' Buzzard
Good Morning All, from back home finally. Partly cloudy and 42°. High temperature today and tomorrow is not expected to get out of the 40's. Scattered light rain all around, I have 0.2" in the gauge from overnight. Knowing the temperature I should have put my shoes on before I went out and checked it.
My mind hasn't admitted that it really is fall already, although the predicted below freezing temperatures for Monday through Wednesday nights will convince it. First freeze is coming about 3 weeks early this year. I will finally have to bring out the blue jeans today.
On tap this morning is empty, empty and empty. Still have to empty the dishwasher from running it the night before we left; Wife is after me to empty my suitcase; and still need to empty things out of the car. Mostly relax and head for the train shed after it warms up out there - I don't remember if I set the heaters for on.
This morning instead of going back to the Lionel layout in Foley AL as promised last night, I am going to start with this stuff while I still remember all of it. Here is the Z scale layout from the Texas City Museum.
And now back to the animated N scale layout that greets you when you walk in the door. First a repeat of the long range shot that I posted yesterday, followed by the backside.
Despite there being a lot of industry sidings here and on other layouts, the gentleman in the first picture told me that they don't do operating sessions!
And now some random shots of the same layout. Here's Superman watching over things, he flies back and forth continuously over the front side.
A few unfinished scenes.
Back to the finished stuff.
Can't add any more in this post, be back later.
Patrick - Snakes eat crickets, get a couple for your garage.
Tom O - I guess that it is time for me to catch up on the war! I have remained news-free for the past week. Investments? I moved some funds out of the market temporarily before I left just because I wasn't going to pay attention to the financials. I may have to invest in some defense stocks like Raytheon or Lockheed-Martin.
Hughie - Drivers in the Houston area are a lot worse than I remember from my last time down there. Nothing stops them from abruptly switching lanes at 75 mph into a 30' space without a blinker or even a casual glance. All of our car's warning systems were going nuts on me. And what's the deal with all of the HOV and toll express lanes being closed? That is if you know since I know that you are not exactly in Houston.
Troy - Regarding bitters, I asked my brother about them as he got all of his alcohol knowledge from my Dad the liquor distributor. He said that bitters should last 4-5 years after opening without refrigeration.
Regarding car warning systems and the overdone (to me) technology, I discovered a new one on the damn Lexus on this trip, auto windshield wipers! I have been suddenly surprised before this trip when the wipers just swiped the windshield, but I just figured that I may have accidentally triggered something on the control rod or on the steering wheel buttons; none of which I know how to use. Then on the way home, they swiped again, and again, and again in a random timing so I knew it wasn't set for intermittent. So it appears that something detects moisture on the windshield and triggers them. Maybe Karl or another knowledgeable person can enlighten me further. Someday I might need to read the owners manual!
Today would have been painter Bob Ross's 82nd birthday had he lived past 55. He is the inspiration for my backdrop painting.
That's it for this post, stay tuned. Everybody have a great day.
