Nice looking but not nice all. It had a 430 Detroit 2 stroke with a 13 speed. Wish it had a 318 in it never could keep the back half of the 13 speed tranny right one time It went out on me going to Kansas City with a Piggyback trailer of Mail from St. Louis and it took the main front bearing with it. This is a pic of my best friend and I changing out that tranny in 1995. Sadly he passed away last January of kidney failure I’m still not the same since losing a friend for over 45 years. I have no one to talk old trucks with anymore this new breed is something else. I’m the dude in front holding the tranny View attachment 175075
I've learned nothing ever breaks at 2:30 in the afternoon on a sunny, 72 degree day. It's always miserable, cold, rainy, snowing, something.
I remember in 1977 building a "dam" around the underside of our GMC car hauler, and lighting a partially-filled can of diesel fuel under the oil pan to try to get the lube oil thin enough the engine could spin fast enough to start. And then, the diesel was gelled to the point all the engine would do was idle. If you pushed the gas pedal down at all, the engine would just go "*wheeze!*. It was -22 at the time.
And two weeks later, I was outside, because the White cabover was too tall to fit through the bay door, using an air hammer to change out the kingpins and bushings on the front axle. It was a balmy 15. Fun times.

One of the many reasons I quit after 33 years of driving tractor trailers. I’m a 4th generation trucker all I ever known was trucks I never thought I would see the day I couldn’t stand to be around the trucking industry that I was in. The ELD caused a lot of my stress and anxiety because I was always up against the clock Hurrying all day no time to relax and enjoy the trucking life I had before ELDs. Glad I’m out of it for sure I enjoy driving my little Pete Dump truck with a 9 speed Manual transmission and no DEF to worry about and ELDs.

Good late waking morning from So. Central cool Wisconsin. Woke at 7:45 this morning and it was 43f degrees, we are heading to 55! Nice thing though it‘s not windy at only 2 mph. The grandson’s soccer played great in the wind blowing in the teens yesterday, today good wind conditions but it should be raining during his game. Going for me will be a game time decision, the complex they play at today in like 10-15 minutes away.

I spent a couple short sessions in the train room. Testing trains and working on a personal Center Partition car that I am doing in oils not my normal aryclics. Something different but oils take forever to dry and whenever I use them the drying times remind me why I rarely do!

Terry just asked if I want to ride with her before the rains? Sure why not. Later to all!

I have always loved being in trucking. When I was 'knee high to a grasshopper' I was taken in trucks to Hull and Liverpool. Then later taken to Northumberland and Scotland. Loved every minute of it. Then spent my working life around trucks and reached the dizzy heights of Transport Manager.

My time to leave was just as technology came in. No such thing as a mobile phone 'in my day'. 😁
I worked out of Germany, all continental, and occasionally to the UK long before mobile phones, we phoned the Boss once a day, and three times on the days we unloaded and loaded, rest of the time unless we had a problem we were left alone.

Ravens @ Pittsburgh - 1pm on CBS. These games are almost always decided by one score. These two teams don't like each other. When these two teams meet it reminds me of the old "black and blue" division games. Being in the same division they play each other twice a year. At least I will get to see two "old school" games.

One thing I love about the Ravens: no west coast offense! With the Ravens it is usually run first on offense. Smash mouth football at its best!

Looking for some help! I am looking for a Scaletrains HO scale Heritage unit. WIsconsin Central. It’s for me!

Only one I can find in HO is an Intermountain one.

Good Morning All, a bit late this morning, as the granddog had issues while we were walking. Chased a rabbit and didn't return. While I didn't go after her, I retraced my route back and forth until I finally spotted her and she responded to my call. Meanwhile it was 47° and clear when I first woke up; it has already risen to 57° as I begin this post. The high temperature yesterday was just 70°, which ironically was cooler than the pool water, which was too chilly even for me. Mid to upper 80's for the next week.

Regarding the pool, yesterday I did most of the pre-closing tasks that need to be done. Removed the ladder, removed the vacuum and hoses, brought in the test kit and added the winter chlorine. No wind today will make putting the cover on real easy.
First though in the morning, I mowed with both the tractor and the small electric push mower. Got lots done since conditions were right. No dew, no dust because the top of the ground hadn't dried out yet, and I had a lot of pent-up energy. More of the same today including the weedeater.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did finish the ground cover around the fuel distributor.

Sherrel - My new IT guy is now my 16 year old grandson, as he has skipped over the knowledge level of my son-in-law. He's still the back-up though.
Tom O - I have noticed that if you miss the pre-orders with Scaletrains engines, they are really hard to come across. A little easier with freight cars though. I understand their business model but I am not sure that I fully agree with it. Plus, they don't have a large distributor network at all.
Mac - My granddog wasn't as lucky as your cat!

I appreciate the comments and pictures regarding the trucks, it helped me a lot. I don't have a lot of experience with trucks themselves, although I dealt with many drivers from our team when I worked and scheduled customer shipments. They really helped me a lot in many instances, made their jobs easier as well. They definitely weren't used to having any influence in scheduling decisions.

Everybody have a great day, It's time to leave for Mass.

I found a few as well.

The folks who bought the Scaletrains versions must be holding on to them. Usually, you can find something floating around. I found nothing in HO, but there were some N scale still out there.

Yeah, don't know what's happening, usually it's the other way round.

But I have found a good source for Intermountain Locomotives in that link I sent you, so trying to help TomO, helped me too, I call that a win in my book. :D

Morning all,

Was 48° earlier this morning, currently 57° going for a high of 84° later.

Been busy with getting the groceries, laundry and starting the few jobs I have to do before they come in the morning to start the flooring. Trim is all pulled and any wall area that may have the trim set lower than it was is painted and has 2 coats. I have yet to move the appliances and remove the toilets, but the knees are killing me already.

Still got a bit more laundry to do and new trim to stain and cut.

Morning! I was shocked to see an NFL game on at 7AM. Forgot about the overseas play!
Sixty-two at this time and looking for 93 later with clear and blue and calm.
Yesterday was a "barn burner" at 101 and after the Spousal Unit returned from a band showing for the Gson - we decided that it was too hot to go to the BUNCO groups get-together last night. I did not go to see the band with her; instead I tried to do some sorting and get the trash barrels ready to go out later today. The "live-in" daughter keeps bringing her belongings into the house and filling up the garage with more and more! The place is beginning to take on the look of a museum?
The lower humidity (14%) yesterday almost made it tolerable to be out - except - to be in the direct sunlight! I would expect today will be about the same?

On my soapbox now!
NO ONE OVER 80 YO SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FILE AN INCOME TAX RETURN!!
(Or to be president, or to elected to congress)

Thats what I got in my eBay search as well. I even tried by using the SKU#. I thought I struck gold at Yankee Dabler. Turned out to be the N scale model.

Bummer!!!
I am set on the Scaletrains model in HO as I don’t know too many folks that have had success with the Intermountain’s locomotives. I can wait and I do have the option of painting my own but those become never completed projects!

Thanks for helping Mike

Thanks Chris. Just not a fan of Intermountain but I have it in my mind. If I can’t find an ST by the New Year I may buy the Intermountain. I can always gut it and throw my own mechanicals in there.

Bad project thought. Buy the Intermountain, gut it and turn It into a dummy unit holding the batteries for the lead unit and run It off the IPhone with a Soundtraxx Blunami decoder.

Hopefully I find an ST unit
