Well good morning to all. It’s 45f degrees and heavy clouds on this morning in So. Central WIsconsin. I have not been in the pool yet this morning but I have a feeling it may be a brisk dive to start out. The high might get to 55.

We gave our Badger Women hockey tickets away as we were supposed to be traveling. You know how that ended! Terry wants to go tonight since we are home. My friend is the head coach, so I need to see if he can help. They are ranked #1 in the NCAA and are the defending National Champs. They struggled last night with #21 Boston College but still won 5-3. I listened on the IPadPro while at the airport.

After a morning swim, shower and breakfast I will review what I have to follow up on with insurance. The local agent replied with an automated text that she is on vacation and blah, blah, blah.

I have quite a few weathering commissions that even if I work for 1- 2 hour session each day for the next 5 days (we were planning to be gone) that will put me way ahead of schedule. Other than maybe hockey tonight we have no plans. With 50’s the next 4 days Terry is thinking the balance of the outdoor tomatoes may go into the composting beds! She will decide tomorrow.

enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Clear, calm and 61°, with a dew on parts of the yard. Haven't had one of those since May!. Today is supposed to be near normal at 85°, but chilly for the next two nights around 49°. Saturday's high might be 70° before returning to our normal 60°-88° range on Sunday. Despite the 3.5" of rain Wednesday night, the ground absorbed every drop and the surface nearly dried out yesterday afternoon. Granddog didn't track any mud inside! Pool water did drop to 80°, which was still tolerable since I had to get in and remove large clumps of leaves that showed up with the high winds accompanying the Wednesday night storms. It also overflowed due to the influx of rain. I walked behind the train shed to find that there was no runoff into my pond, so no chance of migratory birds stopping yet, although I haven't seen any overhead yet anyway.

Yesterday's grocery trek went OK; prices of most stuff seem to have stabilized. Gasoline is going down, the lowest being at the rural convenience store about 6 miles from me, at $3.13/gal. Found a FedEx mailbox and sent my CapCam on it's merry way.

Looks like today will be a back to normal day for me. Except my wife insists that she's cooking supper. Well, that will extend my time in the train shed. I do have to pick up some downed dead limbs from Wednesday night's storm, but there doesn't seem to be many. I haven't looked at the "back 40" yet, but those trees all seem to be relatively stable and hardy to begin with. The Bermuda grass is already greening up, so it won't be too long before mowing will begin again. In fact it would do me good to go over to the corner of the yard over the septic field as a preemptive move.

Shortened day out in the train shed yesterday due to all else that was going on. No landscaping was done. I need to figure the exact placement of all of the elements for the fuel distributor and mark them before proceeding. I did however, paint all of the walkways and railings on top of the storage tanks, to add some color and variety to an otherwise plain feature.

This went painfully slow since they were already installed.

Chris - Does Customs actually open packages to ascertain that the contents are what is actually declared?
Tom O - Deeply disturbing day yesterday with the missing car. Good luck with your insurance company as you're probably not getting the old one back.

Today is World College Radio Day. I was on college radio back 50 years ago as part of a communications course that I was taking. I spun the tunes as a disc jockey for 4 months. Interesting times, but then the place that I worked at part time, made me an offer that I couldn't refuse and I took it. It was quite a joy soon after when I took home my first "three figure" paycheck.

Everybody have a great day and an awesome weekend.

Karl. Yep it’s in the hands of insurance. They are aware of the 3 colors I will refuse, White, black and those to me annoying neon colors! It’s a blip on the radar, aggravating but small in the big scheme of life

White, really? Interesting. All our cars are white. I only* buy white cars. They look cleaner when not washed and are easier for the crazies to see... To each his own (this is not a criticism -- I just find it interesting).

In 2016 we bought (ordered) a (white) 2017 Volvo V60 wagon on the "Sweden Delivery" deal where Volvo would fly you to the factory and let you pick up your car and drive it around Europe and then you drop it off and they ship it to you and you pick it up again at your local dealer. Part of it was a factory tour. On the tour the guide asked if we could guess what was the most popular color Volvos to be bought. I guessed white, which was wrong (I think it was second IIRC). The answer was black. So their top two were on your do not buy list :D And yes the trip to Sweden was awesome. Kind of like a 16 year delayed honeymoon in a way, as our original one (delayed honeymoon a month after we got married) to Europe fell through due to a passport issue.

* when available. I've had non-white cars in the last 20+ years because white was not available and we didn't have the luxury of waiting for one to come in. My 2000 Dodge RAM 2500 was white. The 2006 VW Passat was a gray blue metallic. OUr 2006 Dodge RAM 2500 was white. Our 2x 2013 VW Diesel Jetta Sportwagens were a metallic gray and a metallic champagne gold color, their replacements were a white 2016 Audi A3 etron and a white 2017 Volvo V60. Unfortunately the Volvo was totaled by an idiot a couple years later and was replaced by a white 2019 VW Jetta. We still have the Audi and VW. I think my folks clued me into white cars as most of their cars (Honda) have been white since the 80s. I think only a 2001 Civic they had wasn't. Their earlier Civic, the Accord that replaced the crashed 2001, and the 2007 Fit my dad bought were all white. We got the Fit after he stopped driving so my son drives a white Fit now.

Good Morning All!

42F @ 80% and foggy. Supposed to get to above 70F again - we will see.

Not much to report on the home front as everything has settled down and we are back to our routine. I did finally get to use the Roto-Zip for cutting outlet/switch boxes. Worked great on the metal ones, but I kept cutting through the sides of the plastic ones. I just could not feel the bit hitting the plastic. Did find a bit for it that had about 1/4" of non-cutting tooling on the end which helped. Guess that it is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and there IS mud and tape. Today is 1st mud coat to fill those darn holes in the sheet rocking. Tomorra will be the 1st mud and tape coat. After that Maria and the Dau is in charge of the 2nd coat, sanding, then the top coat, sealing and painting which allows me to get outside and do some of the get ready for winter stuff. Will take the tractor around and pick up fence posts we removed for cutting into cook stove wood. Then to ACE for 2 thresholds for doors in need. I got to get people NOT to step on those thresholds but to step over them; guess we have been doing that for over 10 years, so maybe not a big deal. Still have one room to demo but we have learned how to get-r-done faster with the practice on the others.

At least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for starting on layout stuff. Haven't even looked at the trackplan for months. More on that as my mornings get lighter.

Chadbag: Like you I think white is best ( or light earth tone ) as additionally it reflects the summer heat where as a dark color absorbs the heat making the AC run more/hotter. Easier to heat something than cool it. Maria got a black Expedition ( think I posted a pix ) and it shows dirt after driving home from the car wash which is about 1.5 miles. It seemed to handle our sometimes greater than 100F temps and we stayed cool; for now.

Oh, and while ima talking about the Expedition - we have been averaging 17Mpg with it. Now I have a baseline and want to put a K&N intake on it for a tad better performance. Will find out if the mileage improves after that.

Chad, no worries I knew you weren’t criticizing! I’m ok with white cars but Terry dislikes it. So enough about white.

Black shows everything so that’s out. Red is a magnet for the cops but I did have a Golf that was Cinnamon Red (VW’s) name that the dealer said if I’d buy it they‘d give me another 10%. That was a personal car but purchased along with 10 other Golf’s for my corporate sales group and their assistants. I loved the color. Neon colors just are not for us!

My lost Jetta was a great looking car when clean, metallic gray/silver. I generally will get the car in non winter months cleaned monthly. In Winter at least every 2 weeks and often weekly. Outsides only as Terry hates dirty interiors and she goes through the cars after every trip. Who am I to interfere with her enjoyment!

Well howdy there internet peeps, and those who weren't giving sub secrets away

It's Troy again.

Finished the book yesterday. But still have the secret online bonus chapter to write.

However, I'm heading up to Lansing Michigan in about an hour. Got a gaming tournament to attend, friends to see, dice to roll, and games to lose. That wooden spoon is going to be MINE!

Wife has had a rough week at work. She thought she had today as a rough draft deadline (she did that on Tues)... Nope... send it out for final review by Friday!

She got at up 2am thinking about it, and started working... Poor girl. Been there and done that with the books a few times.

MIL has a new insulin pump, arm sensors that talk to the pump, and a fancy app on her iPhone. Good news is the two daughters in medical fields (SIL nurse and my wife the lab tech) also have the app. They get the same alerts as Mother-in-law. And yesterday was an alert fest. Wife finally ran over to help her mom when BS dropped under 50. They'd already called, and knew she was trying to bring it up. Wife was able to stop the routine drops the pump was giving her.

They've got an appointment, when the next upgrade hits in a week or so, with the diabetes tech to get all the bells and whistles set up... like turning off the maintenance drops the pump sends out - WHEN a low BS alarm is active.

OK... time to pack up the car, brush the toofers and head to Lansing. I've got games to lose, and friends to see.

Afternoon All,

Started out today early taking Kathy to her 7:45 am appointment for her foot. After that she got another x-ray, and her flu and covid shots. Dad came along to get his shots also. Dad flies out Sunday to OH to visit his brother (significantly younger) for 2 weeks.

Tomorrow a friend that was recently hospitalized for cardiac issues then placed on bed rest for a week will be at my buddy Tom's house Saturday, so I'm going to see how he's doing. Next week Saturday after tomorrow is the 33rd annual skunk show. Always a fun day.

Tom- Nice looking truck. For some reason I thought you were retired.

Smudge- Cool photo and video.

Guy- That must have been a truly horrendous death for those people.

David- Nice looking gondolas and coal yard.

Mikey- Sounds like a fun kit.

Todd- I can understand the apparent non-caring attitude after you do something hundreds of times.

TomO- I have a friend that is an Uber driver in SC. He will start a conversation but if the passenger doesn't want to participate, he stops.

Karl- Great looking flowerpots.

Willie- Nice job painting the handrails yellow.

Troy- Good luck with the tournament, No sub secrets given. It occurred more than 30 years ago.

I hope everyone has a good night.

75°, cloudy and very muggy. Wind from the Southeast. feels like it's fixin to rain.

This morning's trip to the BJ's warehouse was uneventful. My wallet was $225 lighter, but otherwise we got everything on our list, plus a few things we forgot to place on the list, like low sodium chicken broth.

Did a few chores in the yard, fed da boids, and swept the garage. I also moved the spray paint booth closer to the doors.

Dick Butkus passed at 80, RIP.

Devils @ Islanders to close out the pre-season tonight. Tomorrow's AL / NL playoff games are on cable...Suppose they are all on Sirius Radio, ESPN Radio or the FAN in NYC.

Hard to believe that it has been 12 years since he left us.

"Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith."
------- Steve Jobs

Back in the early 2000s I was at the airport one Sunday afternoon waiting for a plane to San Jose, to go to the Apple Developer Conference (WWDC). The plane was overbooked and they were trying to offer incentives to get bumped but they couldn't get anyone to get off since they couldn't guarantee arrival until the next late morning. The plane was full of people going to the conference and nobody wanted to miss Steve's presentations...

I don't remember if he'd already become the CEO again or was iCEO at the time or what. When he cae back to Apple he was at first just a special advisor. Then he became the iCEO -- interim CEO. Finally he just took the mantle himself until soon before he died.

Good afternoon all. A day of sunshine and rain. Still getting used to new laptop. I am not techy minded.

Two new wagons have arrived from The Medway Queen Preservation Society of which I am a supporter.
DAVID - I am with you on the "NOT TECHY MINDED". I managed to permanently delete my tax return by mistakenly using "Webroot" and thinking it was going to the trash bin!
OH WELL, I have NINE days remaining - no rush! LOL

Like the wagons! I just like the old timey RR cars!

TOM - That is a beautiful looking truck - WOW!

Lee, here's the single axle I drive. I transferred from water and sewer to highway. The stainless box I've been working on polishing up. Much more work to do on it but this is one once over. You can see how dull it was by the last pic.View attachment 174940View attachment 174941View attachment 174942
Now that’s sharp. I like those heavy duty small hole Alcoa wheels on the front. I got to get my polish rag out again. I worked yesterday in the rain hauling rock out of one of are local Quarries and really got the truck messy but made some good money for a rainy day.

Well last night the Boss called asked if I wanted to take a early morning road trip to help clean up a Derailment today I said sure. So I left out around 4am this morning to haul some extra Ballast and base rock back to a siding rail about 20 miles from the Derailment site what a mess. The rail cars supposedly had brand new Cadillacs them.

Little Pete pausing to take a pic with one of the big boys. Good night all going to turn on early I had a very long day but it was awesome.
