Troy - Pizza King? I guess the name is about as silly as Pizza Ranch. I guess there are only so many names to use
It's an Indiana (and occasionally, as Sir Pizza, in Mich and Ohio, but rarely) thing

The story linked above is from a Public Broadcasting station and is pretty interesting. We're in the zone that does "Ring the King" with an old land-line coiled cord phone at each table. You call in your order and they bring it out to you.

In another part of the state (west of Indianapolis), they have large booths around a G-scale train that loops out and back. Flatbed cars bring you your drinks (when it's working correctly. They "try" to make it feel like you're on a dining car with a HUGE booth and a "window" looking at a piece of Indiana landscape (photo background behind the train.

When the train shows at your window, you latches drop so you can raise your plexiglass and retrieve the drinks. Unfortunately, they don't make pizza that fit down the chute, so you get paged to come pick it up at the window.

Wife grew up with that being the main pizza her family got every week. I lived less rural and got exposed to more variety. But we try to get to Pizza King about twice a month.

Edit: Here's a link to the train-themed restaurant

Bumps car horn while getting outa car. Ooops, sorry.
Misses grip on door to diner and it slams against the wall, ooops, sorry.
Drop cell phone on counter and drag stool back a bit so I can sit down, oppps, sorry for all the noise Snowman. At least I didn't drop my car keys on the counter because I don't have any. It's a Tesla (smirk).
Think I'll have some French Toast with Showderd Pugger on em.
Gonna go annoy the democrats down at the Farmers Market one more time today. This is the FMs last weekend there.
Gonna go over to a widows house this morning with a bunch of guys from the church and spruce up her yard then got a BBQ to go to this afternoon at another guy's house. He has a large plot of land and bunch of us will be able to bring our handguns along and do some target shooting. His neighbors get a little nosy when they hear the twenty or so bikes rumbling down their country road, but when the shooting begins, some will bring their boxes of ammo and join in the fun.

A friend asked for a few photos of the end of a centre-beam. Not sure if I ever posted these. As Jed Clampet once said though, 'They're just as good the second time around'.

If more are needed, I'll have to search through my 2020/21 files. Let me know; I've probably got more.

I'm really tired. Time for some sleep. Goodnight
This is an excellent way to be able to build one. Notice the details!!! Great. Only problem is, whenever I actually want to build it, I will never find these picures again.

I move all Guys’ and other photos of interest to its own album. With my IPadPro it’s easy (apple device) I just touch the photos until the add to photo box pops up. Then I move the picture in my photo library to a train album.

Good morning modelers, shooters, good guys cutting others grass (I love that Ken), lost tool searchers and hungry souls. Flo, please a 3 egg carnivore omelette. No to the hash browns but I will have 1 piece of sourdough toast. Yes, another diet Dr Pepper.

Today, should be nice. It’s already bright and sunny at 33f/.55c degrees heading to a warm 63/17.2 with almost no winds. The granddaughter is coming in 20 minutes. Her dad is working the penalty box for the grandson’s hockey game this morning and mom is having a girls out weekend in Cedar Fall, Iowa of all places. The hockey moms (6 of them) decided before the season started getting heavy they needed time away. Today is game 1 of the season but zip tomorrow. Then it’s at least 4 games each of the next 3 weekends coming up. While 11 the granddaughter has Down Syndrome and it’s too much to let her be on her own at the rink. So she and I will play in the pool this morning. I did go buy a chocolate covered long John for the g/d. Just the 1 for her as I passed. It’s a treat she loves and all the chocolate comes off first before the donut is bitten into. While she will not eat my bacon she loves my mini pancakes with chocolate chips added to hers. We will have a good time.

This afternoon I should be able to get into the train room.

TIPPING UPDATE, I joined a friend for dinner out last night. One of the local bars serves excellent breakfasts and dinners. The Friday fish fry is exceptional but the prices are climbing. The owner was helping his crew last night and came over and talked for a few minutes a couple times when he wanted to relax. Terry and I have known him since the first week we moved in the area. Anyway, I asked how the tips are distributed in his place. He said, his servers get $15.00 per hour and keep all cash tips. If the tip is on the credit card 10% of the tip goes to the kitchen and bus staff. The 90% is the servers. The staff all punch in on the register, like the old time clocks. The computer keeps Track of the servers tips minus the 10%. It is up to the servers to report cash tips. He thinks more then 80% of credit cards users put the tip on the card, the rest leave cash. He said that’s an educated guess. His bar staff start at $18 per hour and he has 2 making $26 per hour. No split on tips if it’s a credit card for them. Most of their tips he said are cash. He doesn’t track cash and it’s up to them to report it. Last night at 6 he had 3 bartenders hopping and yes the lady bartenders he has are making the most and he said he believes their tips are plenty good. All have been with him at least 6 years.

enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 53° here. A few scattered showers remain in the neighborhood, but not in my backyard, YET! There was 2.25" in the rain gauge from the last 24 hours when I emptied it earlier. As far as I can tell, it all soaked in with runoff only on the road. Skies are supposed to clear out later today for a high of 62°, going back into the 70's tomorrow.

Not a lot going on at the SFW estate yesterday except the rain. Wife even ran out of stuff on the "honey do" list. Well, I think that she just really couldn't remember.

Thanks to all who commented on or reacted to the relatively small project updates yesterday.

So, out in the train shed yesterday, I did two primary things. I attempted to straighten out the jumbled mess under the layout, but only the 30' or so along the north wall. It was not a success. I did get one shelf sorta orderly. Next, I couldn't stand it anymore and broke down and started a new structure kit from City Classics.

Just two sprues worth of parts.

I got the main walls of all three sections assembled. Seemed that the solvent took a long time to dry in yesterday's humidity.

Today is the beginning of the paint job. This structure will be all hand painted, as I don't feel like setting up the airbrush for such a small structure.

George - Viaduct is looking good. Question about the real world. Would two trains be allowed to cross a two track viaduct at the same time? Specifically the engine sets? Or is it just too much weight? Inquiring minds want to know.
I can find all three of my levels right now. Of course I don't need them for anything but if you need to borrow one...
Tom O - Dumb question here for you? Why you when it came to riding the horses? I thought there was a half dozen or so stable employees.
Mara - Like Tom O, when I see a modeling idea here or elsewhere, I copy the picture and save it in a folder I call "Inspiration". Remembering to look at the folder is the issue!

Everybody have a great day and an awesome weekend.

By chance, did you happen to find Tom's missing HO Scale Ruler in your clean up?

The gnomes who steal missing stuff have been known to get locations mixed up sometimes.

Willie

the staff are plenty busy with the horses being boarded. Terry’s horses are out in the paddock or the fenced pastures during the day with the rest of the horses. The staff will groom them after the daily shower they get coming in from the fields.

I ride the horses as Terry wants her animals ridden while she is gone. She rides almost daily depending on weather when she is home. She prefers riding outside but in January will ride in the arena. When we are both traveling, the daughter and her friends will ride Terry’s horses. Having 6 is too much but the last 3 (Oklahoma, Spring of 2022) were purchases as replacement to the 1st 3 (all rescues) who are getting up there in age and may not be be able to be ridden in the next year or so. I saddle them and brush them down after riding so the staff doesn’t need to. They do however muck the stalls and feed them

I would say yes Willie. In my engineering days we didn't ever worry about 2 trains on any bridge at the same time. The viaduct heading into Grand Central supported 4 tracks. After my RR days I was working on a 50 story building in White Plains NY and two concrete trucks were on the 1st floor over the garage pouring concrete for something. I said, to the civil engineer on the job there's nothing supporting the floor under the trucks. He said, the floor's concrete is rated at 10,000 pound per square inch.

Still the ruler is missing. But I found a couple details crawling around the floor with a spotlight. I believe I have some gnomes visiting, what else can it be.

Yes, the garbage bag next to the bench was checked
