Good morning from weather confused So. Central Wisconsin. 52f degrees now heading to 78. Tuesday coming up the high might be 35.

Today or more likely tomorrow will be the last cutting of grass and mulching of the leaves. I am just going to do the 3 lawns around the house, about an acre and then be done for the season. I put everything away 3 weeks ago being hopefully optimistic but did not drain the gas.

I have both grandkids coming at 11- 11:40 this morning. Then the grandson is picked up for a birthday party till 4. The granddaughter and I can swim, play a few board games and she’ll let me know what else. We will keep busy but there will be no rest for me. Dinner will be delivered. Their parents will pick them up around 8. Homecoming is on the University of Wisconsin campus this weekend. I attended with the grandson the Women’s Hockey huge win last night but missed the Volleyball. The grandkids parents are off to Football this afternoon, I think the game is at 2:30.

enjoy the day
Had my grandkids yesterday. One mower is down for the season, the other one held ready in case I needed to cut again. The snow thrower pre-serviced and ready. May try one last cut today. Also going out to holy Hill for some fall pics of the leaves. We got better fall colors this year than in a good while!

Good morning.
It's clear and 56.
I was planning to mow the lawn leaves yesterday, but the very first thing I did was find a tree stump buried under the fallen foliage. The good news is, that stump shouldn't be a problem next Spring. The bad news is, I have to go buy a blade for the tractor before I can finish the lawn.

Hughie - Thanks for the reference to the capstans, which confirms the realism of what I am going to attempt. Am I using the wrong terminology when I called it a winch?
Morning all!
Since you placed yours horizontally, with a cable then winch should be correct. In the plant I am referring to the drum was in the vertical position. It looked identical to those you see on ships. A rope, maybe 2-1/2" diameter, with a hook spliced on the end was used. The hook would be attached to the car's frame, 3 or 4 wraps around the capstan head and the car was pulled.

Smudge - sounds like you had quite an adventure!
Yes, definitely not one of my favourite jobs I've had to do, but what else can you do I suppose, I got mega stressed out as the passengers were nearly all me,me,me which I did not find particularly helpful.

I had to go to the morgue and identify the driver, (they knew who he was but he still had to be formally identified) sign for all his personal possessions, pack his case from the room with 3 lists of contents, one for inside the case which was then sealed, one for the police records which had to be translated and Notarised, (that cost me 450 Euro's), plus one for customs, all while being escorted by a policeman.

Then deal with 35 passengers, as to who, why, what, and "will we be leaving on time" sort out the hotel (cost of phone calls, Dr's, Ambulance etc,) find the flipping coach, (as it wasn't parked at the hotel, and no one knew where it was) get various other documents sorted out for the repatriation of the body, and start the return journey all within 12 hours of arriving there.

But it's done, thankfully. I have today off, working tomorrow and then off the rest of the week, I need to pick up a V.I.P. (Very Important Parcel, compliments of MikeGTW) on Tuesday from the PO, that's been sitting there for a week already, and although of some of the contents I know about, it seems Mike has added some other goodies too. 🤔

How depressing! I walked into the living room and I see that the Hallmark Channel is already showing Christmas movies! Where's my Prozac? Appropriately enough they went to a commercial for a bipolar depression relief medication.
Granddaughter was watching Christmas shows on Disney plus last night. I agree way to early for Christmas. I wait until Thanksgiving dishes are done, then bar the door. My "A Christmas Story" tee shirts come out and Christmas music goes on. Only song I really despise and they way overplay it is "Last Christmas". Stupid song about being stupid every year...repeatedly. Same reason I can't watch "The Phantom of the Opera".

I must have missed a post... last I heard driver was laid up somewhere. DIdn't realize he was THAT laid up.

I can ignore "Phantom of the Opera", but the music is superb!
Can't remember if I share this or not.

From about 5 years ago or so. A woman was walking through Convent Gardens and ... well... she can speak for herself:

I stopped in Covent Garden to watch a young busker @stephensings1 performing songs from stage musicals. He has the most incredible voice. He had just sung a song from Phantom of the Opera, and then something incredible happened.... ......a young woman stepped forward and asked him to sing 'All I Ask Of You'.

Stephen replied 'I can't do two Phantom songs in a row'. The young woman said 'if you do, I'll sing it with you'.

Stephen looked skeptical and asked 'are you any good?'

The young woman replied 'I'm currently Christine in Phantom of the Opera [at Her Majesty's]'.

What followed was absolutely amazing and I'm very glad I got my phone out quick enough to record it!! I feel very privileged to have witnessed such a special moment in person. This video is also on Stephen's YouTube channel - Stephen Sings (plus more songs too) Follow Stephen on: Facebook stephensings1 Twitter @stephensings1 Instagram stephensings1
EDIT: I flipped the link to the video posted on the male singer's site. He gives an explanation of why he didn't believe her.

WHAT !!!! YOU recorded this ?????????

George - Thanks for the heads-up on the concerts yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't read it until this morning. Heck! I don't even know whether or not we get ASX-TV? I would have enjoyed Winwood, Foreigner and Frampton the most.
Yes Willie I liked Winwood. Didn't care for Michael McDonald. He was better as a Dobbie. I didn't care much for REO SpeedWagon either. I never got to see Peter Frampon I fell asleep an hour into the Fleetwood Mac concert. That was a 1am.

Afternoon All,

Well yesterday s****d. The drive to Tampa was beyond ridiculous with multiple accidents, many slowdowns and very heavy traffic. :( After getting to the fairgrounds where the FL Skunk Rescue🦨 was set up my job was lifting a skunk out of the playpen and hand it to a person on a chair that had paid $2 to hold a skunk (rescue fundraiser). I did this for 3.5 hours until my back said enough. On the way home there was only 1 accident and when we finally got past I-75 we could finally do highway speed the rest of the way home.

I made 2 videos today. I couldn't get my camera to work (of course) so I used my cell phone so you can guess the quality.

Todd- Great looking tractor.

Mikey- Congrats on your recognition.

James- Beautifully weathered cars.

George- The bridge looks great so far. It took me 3 days doing prep work before I was ready to connect everything together.

Willie- Nice layout scenes. Great idea for the capstan.

Guy- Very ingenious. Nice 1:1 photo.

Dennis- Nice video.

TomO- Everything is PC now. It's a way special interest groups have of trying to control us.

Hughie- Good for your wife.

Patrick- You're prepared if you ever need to solve 1x +2x= 15x in an math emergency.😂

Dave- Great picture perspective.

Well I would post the videos but they have disappeared even after I verified they were there when I uploaded them. I F-ng give up.

Later.

Dad was a big fan of ALW and he and mom went to London to see several shows. What really hit me was when the phantom starting whining about losing the girl, wife was peaved when I pulled the disc out and declared, "That's enough. Get over it and get a life loser". Haven't seen it since.

X would need to be zero....only way 3x would equal 15x 😁

I've been listening to and enjoying Winwood since the mid-60's when he was the singer/organist for Spencer Davis. I tolerated McDonald when he was with Steely Dan and the Doobies, but I basically don't like him. REO's singer if he is still the same one (Kevin Cronin), talks too much between songs and I don't like much of their material. I like most iterations of Fleetwood Mac and can listen to all of them and usually enjoy thier music. Too bad you missed Frampton, he still can play guitar extremely well. He's in my top five. But he is no longer the pretty boy of the 60's and 70's that he once was. Not that it mattered to me.
