Lee - that must be the new way they do things. When I was having a hard time doing all the physical jobs in the materials lab they pulled the same stunt on me. Hired all girls and all the heavy lifting to me, the oldest guy in the company at that time (62).
Yes it seems that way guess it’s the new normal. Yeah they hired all woman in the office dispatch and terminal manager. And guess what all of them are going through the change of life there was no getting along with them.

Evening all,

Someone's email got hacked at work. Suspect a phone as emails look to be coming from inside, but about 30 of them got out before the spam filter could find them. Fortunately it was to inside people. Still had idiots not read that I had it dealt with and what they needed to do if they had one. 3 people sent me emails an hour and a half later stating I needed to do something!!!

Head of HR called shortly after my email and we talked. I mentioned that people not reading or paying attention to emails should be fired...she said that sounded harsh, I said well we can't flog or kill them...she laughed.

So if I'm unemployed tomorrow we know why.

Almost finished with the layout access gate. I need to add the facia board on the entry side. It took about 8 hours. I had to stop and make my wife something to eat. She doesn't cook anymore. I thought I knew what I was doing remembering it from the Big E show but I should have cut the facia board on an angle to allow it to clear when opening the gate. I had to leave a bigger gape then I wanted to. It still looks good and works as I planned.

James- wish I could go back to Trainfest this year, but the wife couldn’t get that weekend off(she works at Walmart). Hoping to be able to go to Mad City show in February in Madison.
Louis- sorry to hear about Mom. Dad had the same desire when he was in end stages with cancer. He wanted to go at home in his own bed. Mom asked the doctor “what is being done in the hospital that we can’t do at home?”. Good to hear that you will be honoring her wishes & she couldn’t be under better care than with family. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Good evening. About an hour ago the door bell rang, it was my postal service guy with a package! I was not expecting anything. Not a happy surprise. In August of 2020 I sold one of my last brass steam engines. Sometime in Nov. 2020, PayPal says there is a claim that I never shipped it and didn’t respond to the customer emails. They refunded the guy $290.00. I filed a dispute. I sent them a copy of the signed delivery receipt, a copy of the email from the guy thanking me for it and a copy of the tracking number that was put on the PayPal page. In January of 2021, PayPal gave me my refunded money back.

The package today is the locomotive. No word from PayPal!

When I sent it, it was in great condition. Now, it is missing the back coupler. One of the side rods is not connected and the pin/screw/plug is in a plastic bag. I will open it up tonight and see if the wheels will turn without the side rod connected. The wheels are dirty. I will work on this between bouts

of working on my last of 9, 2 bay covered hoppers being weathered.

Any brass experts out there on advice to fix the side rod?

Looks in decent shape. I painted and weathered it to the extant that we weathered stuff in 1976. This unit was purchased new weeks before I got married.

Nice looking little steamer there TomO.
It's Timonium weekend. Getting things staged in the kitchen to move to the car in the morning. Not really sure if all this will fit in the Tesla. Not as much room as my F-150 had, but then, the modules will be carried inside the car.
Have to put a hold on the grade crossing setup until next week.
I'm racking my mind going over the list of stuff I need to take up to Timonium. Last year, I left here without the clamps that hold the modules together. I have those in a box right at the garage door this time.
Got extra track this time for spanner pieces were the modules expand to much for the 9" joiners.
Got extra track joiners because the ones that were left on the modules find their way off the track and into the carpeting. I find em when I walk out there in my socks but can never see em. Heck, the carpet is an off white color.
Tools, extension cord, extras Anderson power pole connectors, track hammer and spikes.
We are going to try to do an Op Session Sunday morning so I'm takin all the paper layouts for developing the op session then managing it.
Gotta get up early so I can load things up and hit the road by 9am.

Louis- I am very sorry to hear about what happened to your Mom again. As you know I was in this situation with my Mom for 7.5 months, and she was unable to ambulate for 7 months of that. I wouldn't of traded the time, but be aware of what mobility issues mean when taking care of someone. Hospice was a godsend and made an impossible situation possible. I was lucky that Dad took care of Mom in the evenings so I didn't have to move in with them (and thankfully I was retired) but I wouldn't of traded the time I had with her at the end for anything. You are a good and loving son. If you have any questions feel free to message or email me.
Thank you.

I uploaded pics of my LHS loot......

Pity about the state it's been returned to you, obviously they didn't appreciate or look after it either.
Least it's now in the hands of someone who does appreciate such things.
As to who, or why, it's been returned I wouldn't worry about it, once you've returned it to it's former glory, if you decide to sell it again, now worth twice what you sold it for in the first place, that's a win, win in my book.:)

I hope your right. I don’t want any surprises coming out of my PayPal account

My Mom had another heart attack. She is now in hospice care at the hospital.
Her request is to come to our house for in-home hospice care. We don't know how we will do it but do it we will.
My Mom will have her last request granted.
I put a love not because of the heart attack, poor woman,
but because of the love you offer, and your willingness to try to keep her at home and not in a hospice,
won’t be easy, but your willingness to try says a lot,
when my dad was bad at home they provided a hospital bed, electric, air mattress,on wheels adjustable height,I don’t know if you can swing it but it helps and is easier to clean, even a rubber mattress wrap that you can pull the patient on makes it easier,be careful my hunky husband wrecked his shoulder lifting my dad when he fell off the bed though, ensure 2 people help if possible to move her about, and a cushion of sorts for her hips as bed sores are a big thing. Good luck, and bless you.
Last thought peeing the bed and chairs are an issue look at puppy puddle throwaways much cheaper than the human equivalent.
