Good morning,

a mild 44°, at least feels mild with no wind and a few sprinkles

Flo - what about a couple eggs, bacon, hash browns, and white toast. A glass of OJ too, and coffee. Sounds good, thanks!

Willie - the racoons may have ran away, too much standing around on the layout 😁

George - reno project looks interesting, sure is clean, seems out of place to have the radial arm saw and no sawdust, I like the antique iron

Jaz - nice pics of details

Well I went on the scenic train ride from Osceola WI to Marine, MN. Was an hour and a half, lots of people with 8 passenger cars and the baggage car. Wife and I rode the baggage car the whole way, stood at the big door and had a super view. Did not see Steve, however, wonder if he made it?

Here is a shot crossing the St. Croix, the river I have in my layout, however about 40 miles further downstream, notice the sandbar on the far shore

I work machine in their museum, I have a similar model (a little different), a twin to the model I sent Chris (Smudge).

here is a shot from the layout, Wyoming depot and some stuff at the end of the day:

more later, Dave LASM
I love that little work car, I think I've found some crew to go with this.

Morning all,

62° and cloudy this morning. Trace of rain with storms overnight. Supposed to be 75° for the high later. Still have the AC on. Usually off by late September. Still a bit warm and no more rain through the next week.

Flo: Coffee and Denver Omelet with rye toast, PATY. Mel should be up by now.

Ok week 2 of wife's retirement and we're both awake before 3:30 and alarm set for a reasonable 5:00a. We actually get out of bed at 4:45. That's ok as I have animals to take care of this week, but next week the goal is to actually sleep. Partially wake up due to the carpal tunnel on the left hand. I had surgery on the right one done a couple of years ago, and it's doing fine, probably time to do the left one.

Good Morning, Folk!

Well, I was working on model sidewalks yesterday, achieving a wee bit of progress. At least until I got the dreaded 'Please come come fix this-n-that. My house is broke' call on the telephone.
I'll have to resume the work on this later:
Mainstreet_10-11-2022 (1).JPG
Curved sidewalks are a-bit harder than the straight ones. I've found that tracing the curve on vellum paper to make a template works for me.

I've not got much time this morning. Taking the truck in for new tires after I walk the dog.
Yesterday's dog walk was under the gaze of the Autumn moon:

Can't tell if the moon will come out to play yet today, as it's still dark out. But, I gotta get going!

Have a great day!

Good Morning Al. Clear and 67° here in North Central Texas, where it might hit 90° later today. Never got above 79° yesterday due to the all day cloud cover and spotty sprinkles. My rain gauge recorded nothing but the Weather Underground station around the corner reported 0.01", which is too little for my visual gauge to measure.
I did continue to do some tasks in the yard most of the day, along with a few minor "honey do" projects. The remodel project of the guest bedroom has stalled out while my wife makes up her mind. I have been ready to install the new ceiling fan bought last spring, but I am awaiting a decision on the ceiling itself, textured or smooth?? Plus, I need a decision on whether the old bed which is in my way, is staying or going. Honestly, I don't care. Her physical therapy for the replacement knee and her needed weight loss program take priority right now, and some other stuff is taking a lot of our time.

Thanks for the reactions and suggestions regarding the orphaned structure pictured yesterday; James, Gary, George, Dave B, Chad, Hughie, Chet, Curt, Tom O, Jaz, Tom, Patrick, Louis, Mikey, Joe, Guy, Smudge.

OK guys, I need help with this ID. This is a Monogram model that I got in an "out of hobby" sale 10 years ago. I'm trying to identify what model it is so I can paint it more realistically. Or is it just a generic model? I'm thinking along the lines of a late60's or early 70's Mercury.

Most specifically I want to find a picture of the taillights to add some color.

Tom O - I see no problem with using beer to marinate brats, but you need to fix the supply chain if they were the last two!
I have a retired railroad union friend who also says that the whole thing boils down to that time off clause, specifically the sick time. Having spent my time in management, I tend to be anti-union, but this is one issue that I take their side.
Dave B - Layout is coming along nicely, I can't wait to see trees.
My late MIL used a recliner to sleep in during her last years, because getting in and out of bed was increasingly more difficult. Personally I have never tried to sleep in a recliner. Got one if needed!
Guy - Great looking crossing for your first attempt.
Patrick -
Seems everyone wants at least 60 days from your negative test before the give it to you.
Do they say no positive tests in the interim???
Hughie - I do like the newspaper idea, especially the name. I already have two other newspaper buildings in various towns on the layout, however neither is rail-served. I've made note on the whiteboard.
Curt - I also like your suggestion of a furniture manufacturer.
Mikey - Thanks for your suggestion. It will also go on the board for me to contemplate. I would definitely have to create a sign. Remember that I already have a mattress factory on the layout per your suggestion a few years ago.

I had a good long conversation with Chet yesterday. He and the dogs are doing well, although he is sore still. But he says that he is no more sore than when he had the other shoulder done. He's definitely in high spirits and looks forward to getting off the pain medications, presumably so he can drink beer again.

OK, usually when I ask about AWOL members, they mysteriously show up again. Two that I really miss right now are Karl and OB Ken. I hope that all is well and that either work or school has them occupied at present.
Meanwhile where is everyone else today?

Everybody have a great day.

Have to admit, the ACME is the winner for me, or maybe I just have a weird sense of humour.

Good morning y'all. Starting today with my second cup of Tim's Original Blend and a bowl of Shreddies. 47° and foggy, becoming cloudy and 71° later.

Hockey Season opened in North America last night as the NY Rangers beat a lack luster Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1. Las Vegas beat the LA Kings 4-3.
Tonight the Maple Leafs open against the Habs in Montreal. While the Caps host Boston in DC.
Meanwhile, the Phillies held on to beat the Atlanta Baseball Team in a high scoring game 7-6, The Yankees beat the Cleveland Baseball Team 4-1, Seattle blew a lead and lost to Houston, while da Bums beat San Diego. Phillies are on Fox 5 again this afternoon at 1635.

I tried using a different bed with a firmer mattress last night, with disappointing results. Woke up twice during the night, and while I was able to get out of bed easier, than our bed, it was with difficulty. I'm still very stiff, and sore, so It's back to the recliner for now.

I did not get to the train room yesterday, playoff baseball took precedence. Maybe this morning, since I don't have anywhere in particular to go today, and the game is later in the day. I really want to move forward with scenery and structures.

Good morning from the land of cheese.Good old So. Central Wisconsin is wet and cool at 50f degrees with rain since around 3 yesterday afternoon. At times it’s a mist and other times it comes pretty steady. The app says it should end around noon, the TV guy last night said it should have ended around 3AM. Glad they don’t get paid for accuracy.

The girls yesterday came back from about 4 hours of shopping almost empty handed. Nope they made purchases, it’s being sent direct to paradise. So both will have small carry ons for the flight to Maui today. The doctor and coach’s wife are going along for a week before those 2 come back, my 2 are there until they decide it’s time to return. The doc’s hubby is playing chauffeur starting in 45 minutes.

I have a dentist appointment on Friday at 1 so traveling for watching UW Women’s hockey at 6 is out. It’s a good 5 hour drive to St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Mn. so I will settle for the NHL Friday night. I think I may have agreed to playing in a 3 day golf tourney with the brother starting 11/1. His girlfriend’s chemo will have ended and he has won this member/guest thing 3 times in the last 5 years. So today I will start hitting balls into the simulator again. I have not hit a ball since LD weekend. What I need is a putting green though.

We have a counter offer to our counter offer on the house. We both reviewed it yesterday and it’s interesting.

enjoy the day
TomO

Good morning folks!

In the office today. A brisk 38 degrees this morning. Looks like it will be a beautiful day though! A high of 66 degrees! Nice

Last night I worked in the train room and got a small dent in cleaning and organizing. I have much more to do. I plan on doing more tonight. I hope to do some pictures for JR's UPRR thread but we shall see how far I get. I wanted to test out 6 of the new locomotive I acquired in the last 3 months. I have 3 ACEs and 2 ES44ACs and a SW1500 to run. I almost got a Challenger the other day but that bid number went to high so I bowed out of that. My quest continues on looking for a Challenger and (2) 4-8-4s. Also looking for another Alco RS-1. My roster is full but that is ok.

TomO is doing a beautiful job on my 2-bay hoppers he has. Those will look great when I get them rolling on the layout. Speaking of 2-bay hoppers. I found out one of the 2-bay hoppers I recently bought on ebay came with an EOT device by Ring Engineering. Very cool! I now have 6 operable EOTs which is cool. I still will be using a caboose at times as well though.

Boris I like that photo! Cool shot for sure with all what is going on in that pic!

Willie that yellow car looks to me it could be either a camaro or trans am. That F body style is 1982 to 1992 which is the Camaro 3rd generation. https://www.autolist.com/chevrolet-camaro/chevrolet-camaro-generations but this one is definitely 1982 to 1984 due to hood and lights design.

The fall colors here in the Adirondacks is peaking for sure. I will be taking a drive this weekend up to Plattsburgh I think but I got to finish winterizing the boat 1st. Sunday I will be going to a train show on the Mohawk River, I hope I score some cool stuff we shall see.

Ya'll have a good day!

Joe - we bought one of those Select Comfort beds about 23 years ago and replaced it last year with another one. It is like an adjustable air mattress; I think they cost about $1,000 now. We have the cheapest model they made and it is fine. I made my own bed frame otherwise would have been twice as much, we both like it as it can be either firm or soft. We each have our own setting.

Willie - I was in the same camp as James and Chad with the Camero or Trans am, my brother had the '80's camero his was black. I know for Trans am yellow was a popular color, or white with the red and black bird on the hood

Afternoon All,

Started out with a morning walk then mid-morning Dad, Kathy, and myself went to Publix for our 5th Covid update and flu shot. I took ASA before and after so the only side effect I should have is a sore arm (Covid vax). The only thing in the train room was removing fascia for the upcoming project. Note to self...Why is it that where I need to work at always have a UP-5 installed very close by? Outside, son and I blew off the roof and gutter tops of small branches and leaves (from storm). Not sure what's going on tomorrow.

Louis- Great news about your Mother.

Willie- It's easy to do since they're so small.

Jaz- That's the way I find things all the time at the workbench. Nice set of layout shots.

Dave- Great photos. I noticed the tattle-tail before the bridge. I think that's what it's called. My Dad got a super single (whatever they call it) last year and it was $3K+.

Guy- The road looks nice. It just needs some weathering.

Joe- Interesting pairing of the motive power.

James- Neat photo.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Mikey - Thanks for your suggestion. It will also go on the board for me to contemplate. I would definitely have to create a sign. Remember that I already have a mattress factory on the layout per your suggestion a few years ago.
Willie- I am just full of suggestions, but only a few are good ones.
Just remember, my advice is worth exactly half what you are paying for it.🙃
