Dang it! I started to post this morning and had to do it over again as my trigger happy mouse left the page and when I hit back....lost what I typed!

So ya it was 38 degrees this morning. I am working from home today. I will be reviewing project financials for a few hours today. I hope to break away to do a few minor chores then poke my head in the train room today. It is supposed to get a high of 63 today. We shall see. It rained yesterday briefly and then late last nite and earlier this morning just enougk to make ya feel the dampness which I hate!

Yesterday on my way home from work, I saw 2 cool things I will share with ya! Here it has been hot air balloon season this month. Saw one and took a few pics. I always wanted to do this. It is on my bucket list. The other rhing I saw was a ring necked pheasant. He was struttin' and then I spooked him and he took flight for about 50 yards. I got pics of him in flight and struttin'. My phone camera did pretty good. Mind you I was shooting these pics on the fly from my truck on the road.....I had to be quick to get these shots.

I gotta go feed my lions Doc and Wyatt they're telling me their dish is empty. Ya'll have a good day and I will check in later.

Great pictures

I'm not sure what the unions are negotiating for this time around, but I think it has to do with working conditions. Maybe more time off? One of the reasons I left the Railroad is because your always there. Your almost never home. Your there Christmas, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July etc. In a past post Boris said, they've further tightened up the mark-off rules. I'm glad I left when I did,
George
It’s my understanding from a Union Rail worker who voted NO it’s mainly now about the time off issues. His RR insists on time off to be requested 60 days in advance. Which means if you are sick it’s unexcused is the way he explained it to me. He said his fellow workers don’t feel no matter the contract language that management will find a way around the deal. They want assurances. Not a good situation for the workers or the country. IMO no matter the deal settled on it will still be good for the Corporate.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 67°, headed for 86° again today. No bundling up here, as it is still shorts and tee shirt weather (one or two exceptions) for another 6 weeks. There appears to be scattered light rain both west and north of here this morning, might get some but it won't amount to much.
The doctor visit yesterday went well for that part, I will await the results of the blood draws today. I have to go back in a month after my visit to the cardiologist in three weeks, and he is going to coordinate and maybe revise some of the medications that I take. I am experiencing some minor side effects from one of the drugs that the cardiologist prescribed, but it is the anti-rejection one for the stent. The rest of the day was spent tidying up the yard and draining all of the water from the pool plumbing for winter. I also stacked up the firewood that I loaded up Sunday.
More yardwork this morning depending on the weather. That leaves open the option of hitting some indoor projects or spending the whole day in the train shed.

Thanks for the comments and reactions to yesterday's post; James, Chad, Tom O, Ray, Smudge, Troy, Guy, Joe, Patrick, Steve J, Hughie, Curt, Rick, George, Mikey, Tom.

Yesterday, out in the train shed, I did nothing constructive. Ran a few trains and made notes on some more minor projects and improvements. I have four pages in a steno book already!:(
So here is one of my dilemmas. I have this Magnusom resin structure that I assembled, painted and detailed, but I haven't figured out what type of industry to make out of it. Suggestions appreciated, hopefully one that I already have a sign for in my sign stash.

These pictures were taken before I painted or ballasted the tracks in front of the building. I've been switching it with boxcars for 3-4 years now without knowing the commodities or purpose.

Jaz -
I rarely proof read, I am totally it sure it drives people mad,
Mad is not the right word, nutty is!;)
James - That copper and aluminum was bringing a pretty good price that last time I went to the recycling center. I don't watch the price ahead of time, I just go when I have a load.
Todd - Thanks for updating the Coffee Shop on Chet's condition. I missed his call earlier yesterday and I will be speaking with him soon.
Terry - I've seen the Priority Mail guys delivering on Sunday as well.

The rain is barely skimming us now, very light sprinkles that have not yet completely covered the porch or car. However I will probably be able to burn the burn trash in another hour.
Everybody have a great day.

I'm continuing on with my lower deck renovation project. Adding a 2nd track all the way around. The lower deck will be hung from the upper deck like they did when they added the lower deck to the George Washinton bridge. I have to incorporate the bridge viaduct somewhere in the process. I guess add another bridge to it? I also have to add an access gate somewhere and my crossing gate boards will be here soon. Lots to get done in the coming months.

Tom O': You are so right about that, Tom. There is a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips. I mostly use it to follow "the Hockey guy", but occasionally will search out assistance with a project. I'm more or less admitting I don't use the resource enough.

Speaking of mild, it's going up into the 70s today, through Thursday, then cooling off for the weekend.

I did make it down to the train room yesterday, but didn't stay long. I'll go back later today.

Actually had a good night's sleep on the recliner overnight. Didn't wake up until about 10" before the alarm at 0630. Really not the most comfortable place to sleep though. The advantage is that it takes less time for the body to acclimate to standing then walking, than it does getting out of bed.

Rangers - Tampa Bay on ESPN+ tonight, I'll probably skip the second (West Coast) game. Devils - Flyers Nationwide on ESPN+ Thursday. Something to look forward to. ;)

Joe - I worked at some over 55 communities and it is actually quite popular to live with a recliner and not a bed. Some would rent an efficiency and have very functional housing, with only a recliner and some odds and ends as furniture.

One gentleman was 99 years old, had his big recliner and TV in his room, dresser, I think he had a dog too. Apparently, the recliner did not cut into his life expectancy!

How about SFW Star, a newspaper. Cars of paper, printing press parts, inks coming in, newspapers and magazines going out

Afternoon All,

I ordered the LRT components for a grade crossing but am only going with a flashing light type signal (Tomar). Today I printed the instructions for the set up and highlighted the appropriate sections to make them easier to find. Tomorrow Dad, Kathy, and myself are going to Publix to get our flu/latest Covid shots since the VA seems to be dragging their feet locally.

Hughie- Nice layout shot.

George- Nice layout shots. It looks like you have a large layout. Are the 2 levels going to be isolated from each other?

Terry- I thought it was a true story until the end. It does sound like something happening in FL.

David- Neat looking station.

truckdad- Beautiful scenery.

Dave- Nice scenes.

Joe- Nice 1:1 photo

James- Great catches.

Willie- Nice looking building. How about a furniture manufacturer?

JazzDad- Nice shot of the BN caboose.

Louis- I hope your Mother continues to do well.

I hope everyone has a good night.

DRAT! I lost some animals. A few months ago I purchased some animals and other detail parts from Mini-Prints. Among them were six armadillos and eight raccoons. The armadillos were easy, I painted them gray and distributed them around the layout. Easy enough and I can find all six.
The raccoons are much harder to paint with their mottled gray/black/white coloring. I spent a total of about three hours (in between drying time included), painting two of them. Now I cannot find them on the layout - I didn't write down where I put them! I have the six unpainted ones, but no painted ones. Like the armadillos, I would have placed them within 6" of the fascia where they could be seen, since they are tiny. But NO! I can't find them to photograph.
I'm headed back out there to look some more.

I know it seems weird but try with a torch the shadows sometime give extra clarity when hunting for something

Good morning,

a mild 44°, at least feels mild with no wind and a few sprinkles

Flo - what about a couple eggs, bacon, hash browns, and white toast. A glass of OJ too, and coffee. Sounds good, thanks!

Willie - the racoons may have ran away, too much standing around on the layout 😁

George - reno project looks interesting, sure is clean, seems out of place to have the radial arm saw and no sawdust, I like the antique iron

Jaz - nice pics of details

Well I went on the scenic train ride from Osceola WI to Marine, MN. Was an hour and a half, lots of people with 8 passenger cars and the baggage car. Wife and I rode the baggage car the whole way, stood at the big door and had a super view. Did not see Steve, however, wonder if he made it?

St. Croix br.jpg

Here is a shot crossing the St. Croix, the river I have in my layout, however about 40 miles further downstream, notice the sandbar on the far shore

I work machine in their museum, I have a similar model (a little different), a twin to the model I sent Chris (Smudge).

here is a shot from the layout, Wyoming depot and some stuff at the end of the day:
