Good morning gang!

T.G.I.F. and all that happy stuff, its cold and raining and honestly I didn't want to get out of a nice warm bed this morning but here I am! Woohoo!

Flo my dear, can I get an IV bag of coffee, 2 eggs over easy, a side of bacon, a side of Taylor ham, and some toast please??

L8ter!

Morning there folks!
True to form we did hit the 89F high yesterday - didn't feel like it - just a beautiful fall day!
Today we are expecting a 84F high with the same bright sunny sky. It's going to be another great day - too bad that I am not a golfer - just never seemed like a fun thing looking for a little ball all the game which was either in the woods or the water! In my sports world ... the high score always wins?

TERRY, I haven't talked to you in a while - didn't want to "bug" you, but how is your son doing? Do you have knowledge of the daughter in law's folks?

FLO - Greetings to you - if you please, put me down for the CFS, 2 eggs up, hash browns, and a side of B&G with a diet DP to drink. I am hungry today!

Good Morning!
It feels a-bit cool at only 23f, but, I believe it's going to be a wonderful day. I'll start it off with a couple of hot coffee.

My son got the job at the West Fraser mill in Blue Ridge and is presently undergoing the required drug-testing and orientation. His starting wage is close to 30.00/hr, so I'm feeling a whole lot better about his prospects for the future. The boy is finally on his way.

As it happens, I drove the wife downtown yesterday, where I saw a lone locomotive from out-of-town sitting in the local yard. With enough rail-fanning experience now to know that engine wasn't going to be a yard ornament, I realized that fate had planned out my day for me. There was no continuation of layout room construction, no sir. I would be putting on the hiking boots and heading to the staging yard west of town to take some photos.
Here's how I found the locomotive sitting in the yard, totally alone:

After I took a few yard photos, I went home and got dressed properly to spend the day outside. Then I proceeded to the staging area, where I was fortunate to enjoy an action packed day taking photos. My timing was perfect, and I was able to increase my photo count by near 100 photos over a 3hr period.

Here's that lone locomotive backing into the staging area to pick up it's train:

The locomotive moved forward and back to hook onto the lines of gravel filled open hoppers and freight boxcars, which were probably filled with lumber products:

Once it had it's train, it began the journey east to Edmonton. I was lucky to get photos in a couple of different locations:

Here's a photo of the train passing through town, at a crossing over highway 43. When I looked at this photo, I thought about that 1970's song 'Signs, signs, everywhere a sign'.

Well, it's only through a twist of fate that I'm posting today, as I don't usually post unless I have photos. Now I've got enough photos to last the next few days. So, you can expect to see a few more in the shop. I hope they entertain you, with something to look at while you enjoy coffee.

Thankyou for all the likes and comments on these simple posts.
Have a great day! It's a good one!

Good Morning All. Looks like clear and 52°, still really strong and gusty winds from the NW today, increasing in velocity for a few more hours before diminishing before sunset. Temperature will then drop into the lower 40's tonight. That will for sure mean starting the first fire of the season in the wood-burning heater.
No issues on the grocery trek yesterday, although I did notice some low inventory in spots around the store. I actually believe that it relates more to a labor shortage there than to anything actually being in short supply. In areas that vendors take care of stocking, like soda, bread and alcohol, the shelves were full. Mask compliance was still about 50% even though our governor has outlawed mask mandates. Entirely voluntary; I wore mine in the center aisles and the checkout line. The rest of the store is very wide open and social distancing is easy.

Y'all are just really awesome with the complements on the Ramone's Storage & Salvage structure build. I'm not sure at all if I can follow up with another one as good. Thanks for the comments and likes regarding yesterday's posting; Patrick, Karl, Guy, Sherrel, Steve J, OB Ken, Tom O, Christian, James, Gary, Hughie, Joe, Curt, Rick, IB Ken.

Let me try the Friday Special this morning Flo, buckwheat pancakes with a pile of sausage patties.

I don't really have a lot to show from my adventures in the train shed yesterday. I started by adding ground cover to the area between the main line and the Ramone's parking area.

Then I moved over to the workbench to fabricate a fence to put there, something I might refer to as a "cable barrier" like this.
IMG_8028.JPG

I make mine by first cutting toothpicks into about a 4' scale length and then drilling a .020" hole in one end. Then I string a length of .010" wire through them. Here's what I ended up with yesterday.
IMG_8027.JPG

Today I'll spray it all with some gray primer and drill post holes every 15' apart for mounting. You get the idea from there.

Patrick - I hated that Masonite siding that was originally on my house. I replaced it all with "Smart Siding" from HD with a 50 year warranty. At the same time I wrapped the house with some kind of plastic wrap that I can't remember the name of. Tyveck I think.
Guy - Don't abandon us just as you restart working on the train room. Pictures of your progress are always welcome.
Tom O - I haven't asked about how long the health professionals are supposed to be visiting. Staci, the nurse who visits twice a week, probably will stop once the blood draws are no longer necessary. Nathan, the upper body PT, I just don't know. Heather the lower body PT will return in mid-December after the replacement surgery. She really isn't needed as my wife did that rehab mostly by herself with my able assistance after the previous surgery. As long as Medicare is paying for them, I don't really care much. I consider it a pay-back for all of those years that I donated part of my salary to them...Still paying them premiums!!! It's not like an entitlement!
Hughie -
Willie - Looks like you master cloud painting
Thanks for the comment. I have improved cloud painting in my opinion and I will soon be adding more elsewhere.
IB Ken - Very nice scene, especially with the train in it this time.

Enjoyed the ghost/spook jokes yesterday, don't have any myself that aren't dirty.
Everybody have a great day.

Got back to work on the On30 layout again yesterday afternoon. Spent most of my time gluing down more details like lumber stacks.
Another member hooked up the lighting in the barrel factory. Here are a couple shots.
I also spread some sawdust around the sawmill which changes the look of the place.
Please excuse the terrible photographer.

Good Morning All. Light rain and 60°, looks like it will continue for a couple more hours. The forecast actually called for violent storms with hail and tornadoes to pass through, but other than some thunder and lightning around 0200, nothing more than light rain since then, about a half inch in the rain gauge right now. Hard to actually see with a flashlight in the dark!

Thank you to everyone who either commented or liked yesterday's progress post on Ramone's; Christian, Karl, Guy, Steve J, Jaz, Gary, Sherrel, Hughie, Patrick, Tom O, James, Curt, Rick, Jerry, IB Ken, OB Ken.

Blueberry waffles and a double handful of bacon this morning Flo. Let me switch to apple juice today.

I continued to make progress on Ramone's out in the train shed yesterday. I added weathering powders to the remaining two walls and started adding crates and barrels to the loading docks.

This is about half of the Hydrocal detail castings, the rest will be placed on the ground after I get the building planted on the layout. I still have additional stuff to add, compressed gas cylinders, pallets, a forklift from Walther's, and of course figures. I did build a stairway to add to the front of the structure, but it is unfinished right now.

The long tab is for attaching it to the underside of the loading dock since there isn't much gluing surface on the stairs themselves.

Steve J - You're right about the wait to get the new card. I had only one compromised debit card which cost nothing to me, but took a week to get here. My last AMEX card was lost in the mail somewhere, but they FedEx'ed the new one overnight! Since I always pay off that card every month, I never accrue interest charges but still get cash back every year. I couldn't use travel points anyway.

Today is National American Beer Day, so I guess that I will have a couple of Sam Adams' Octoberfest brews instead of my usual Heineken.
Everybody have a great day. Stay safe and dry.
Everyone of those little paper labels on the boxes were worthwhile…love the extra detail

I hope the sunbathing couple were at least wearing sunscreen

Good evening Shop Dwellers!

Only have time for a drive-by post tonite, I spent some time trying to get decent shots of one of my favorite layout scenes - the town of Brook Park. It's the first thing a visitor sees when they step into my trainroom from outdoors. Took a lot of trial-n-error, but I finally got something I thought was worth keeping. Many of you have already seen this view before, minus the train.

Good Night - and have a Pleasant Tomorrow!
Love the greenery left of the tunnel, very believable
