Greetings all,

Saturday in the books, and now Sunday morning as well. Had to do a deep clean on the oven after the pizza extravaganza, as you can probably imagine. Had to take the door off, and pull off one kick plate. Took over two hours yesterday, but got her done. I had a baptism last night at 6pm for a family of the church. We usually do Baptisms during the SUnday morning Divine Service, but this family had members travelling who are quite concerned about the pandemic, so we had a private rite. It was fun. Baptisms are my favorite thing to do as pastor. After that, back home for a salad we got from a nearby local chain, and then watched an old movie. Slept very well. Quiet day today, not sure if I will do any train work or not. - - - - Steve J

PS: Minnesota Wild are 2-0!!
Congrats on the oven cleaning and my Hawks are 0-3 and meet up with the Wild on 1/21/2022. By then the Hawks should have 2 wins

Sherrel ( love his honest comment and his ability to take a ribbing back) suggested I clean up my bench when posting pictures.

too much busy work in the back ground

And now Sherrel, and anyone else, which car do you like the best side bars only is being reviewed

Amazin', but so are the Sabres. Meanwhile,, the Islanders, with Zack Parise, are 0-2. Such are things the first week of the season. ;)
I watched the last inning of the Dodger/Braves game,
That game had a disappointing result :( I was under the impression that Mad Max would start, but it was Knebel and a host of relievers. With reference to the Hawks, not to worry...Buffalo is 2-0 and Second in the Atlantic. That can't last either...or can it?

In another 5mins, it will be noon; so, Good Afternoon!

Thanks to all who liked my high up, telephoto shot of the local CN yard. I took that photo from the $600,000 white elephant pedestrian pedway across the tracks. As I climbed up the stairs, I wondered if I was the only human who had made the trip so far this year. Alas, when I got to the top, I saw there was someone's used underwear up there. So, others have been there before me. The purpose of their visit remains a mystery.

I'm still not getting excited about modeling at this time. That will have to wait until the snows come.
Right now, I've been going out for the odd hunt here and there. I'm packing a rifle just incase I want to take a Whitetail doe, but, I'm mostly using the camera.
I did tear down my two tree stands I had out in the depths of the forest. Nobody ever saw or used them out there, as I'm probably among the last of the hunters who actually walks the forest. Most stay in their trucks these days.
This morning, I happened to take a rather nice photo of a Beaver. Appropriately, the photo was taken from the bank of Beaver Creek. I really like the photo; the colors and the action:
Beaver_10-17-2021 (4).JPG
But, I wasn't hunting no Beaver.

Willie - I really like the modeling job you did on your layout center-piece. Hats off to you for that great work.

That entire scene looks absolutely wonderful.

Well, I have a rifle to clean the gunk off of, because it got rained on. And so many other chores to do. So, have a good one.
Thanks again for the likes on my photos.

After managing to crop out a couple of excellent pictures of my fingers, I have two adequate picture of the house trailer.
I also was inspired by Willie's scenes to find a shapely girl figure to paint and add to the porch. She is not in the pictures as she doesn't have any clothes on and this is a family forum.

No train news to report. Trains will be run once we finish the house.

Got the 4th layer mostly finished Friday afternoon and yesterday. Still need to install T-straps at T-joints and put the clips on adjacent blocks, but since we are now up above where we can reach, we have to use ladders for that, so we'll do all that as part of placing rebar and the next layer of blocks. I'll eventually have the wall support system with integrated scaffolding delivered and then we'll be able to more easily work high up, but can't waste time so are using ladders for now.

Had a nice neighbor (of the new house) come by both Friday and Saturday and help for a few hours each day.

Pics from this afternoon, when I stopped by after services to take a few snapshots since it was too dark when we finished yesterday.

Good evening gang!
I'm back after a brief hiatus. Was 2 weeks working like a dog, then a week of Vaca with the wife, day tripping all over MD, VA and WVa. Luray, Martinsburg, Hagerstown, Frederick . Then today was spent working on choo choos

Hagerstown was the only railfanning stop,, drat, the roundhouse museum was closed to a staff member testing positive for Covid.
20211015_113926.jpg

But just off the the side of the museum these were idling while a GP40-2, a road slug and another GP38-2 were switching cars on the NS interchange behind the museum.
The museum did have this parked on the edge of the parking lot.

Sorry for the somewhat fuzzy pic, but my Galaxy S7 has seen better days.

Gotta catch up on a lot of posts, might take me a day or two but I'll get to it. FWIW ,Tom. I like the middle car best, the deck weathering makes it most believable IMHO.

BTW Son #4 (thank God he's the last one), just got accepted to the Bio-medical program at Stevenson University. Good think I like peanut butter sandwiches! 😎

What's up, guys?

I did a bunch of shop work yesterday, which included a Scale Sound speakers swap into my NP Z8. Wouldn't you know, the Z8 had a pair of 25mm speakers which fit perfectly in my FP45's, so my yellow #1 finally got a voice for it's Econami decoder.

Otherwise I spent 9 hours at club today, running trains, doing a little scenery and finally getting our new car shop on its feet.

Good morning all! A chilly 39 degrees heading up to 73 for the day. Back to work today after a day off yesterday. Got some more work done on my home office/playroom yesterday and played my guitar a little. I'm terrible on guitar, but it's still fun.
Put a couple locomotives on the bookshelf for now. Hope to have something to run them on soon, but for now they're decorations. Also put my grandpa's railroad Illinois pocket watch up on display too. He was a section foreman for the ICRR and Dad gave me his old pocket watch as a gift a while back.
Hope you all have a great day!
Ken

Well after my introductory post, I'm taking Willie's advice and popping my head in here to say G'day to my fellow modellers from country Victoria, Australia.

I'm only new here so go easy on me. It's just hitting 10pm on Monday evening and I'm on the laptop juggling work documents and researching US rail companies from the late 1990s. Guess which one is winning?

I hope you all have a great day over there in the US

Cheers,
Stephen

Good morning. It's clear and 37.
Yesterday I had to take a trip to Charlotte, 85 miles one-way, in the "newsed" car. It performed the way I thought it would, which means I know why it has remained a low-mileage car. It struggles to keep up with traffic. Not there's anything wrong with it, per-se, just it is geared more for city driving and commuting. In high gear, at 75mph, traffic was passing me constantly, and the engine was screaming at 3500 RPM. I'm probably spoiled by the newer stuff I've owned running at about 1750 RPM at the same speed...

Morning all,

Well, Once again weekend didn't go entirely as planned. Ended up having a window visit at the care home with mom. She's still under Covid quarantine due to staff testing positive. Oldest daughter wanted to introduce her last grandparent to her kids. The 2 knew my wife's parents, but my parents left the area when the oldest was just over a year old. Distance and my parents wanting to basically become hermits, kept them from knowing my parents otherwise. Party did happen yesterday, but members were missing.

No trains, but did get most of what I needed to do done around the house.

Stephen: Welcome to the group

Ken: Stress is the reason I didn't want my retiring boss's job. Everyone thought I'd get it as the most senior person, but I'm at the age where I don't want that much stress in my life anymore.

Good Morning All. A little chillier than expected this morning at 45° with clear skies. After a high of 75° later today, we'll be in the 80's for the next ten days. That's 27°C for our international friends. Maybe rain on Friday, but still warm.
I had some nocturnal visitors last night, I noticed motion across the backyard and spotted three creatures climbing a tree near the pool.
IMG_7948.JPG

Hard to tell what they were, but I finally identified them as young raccoons, based on the shapes of their heads and tails.
Then I got a better shot of them descending the tree and made a positive ID.
IMG_7952.JPG

I obviously scared them off, hopefully for good as they can be quite destructive and are super mean when I catch them in the trap.

No real news on my wife, Staci is coming by this morning for another blood draw, and this afternoon we go to the "revision surgeon" to have the stitches removed. That will make showering easier.

Thanks for all of the likes and comments regarding yesterday's background photos; Steve J, Rick, Joe, Jerry, Ken, Tom O, Louis, Hughie, Garry, Guy, Chad, Patrick.

Just some raisin toast and apple juice this morning Flo. I'm still digesting that delicious Rib-eye that I grilled last night.

I made some visible progress out in the train shed yesterday. Interestingly, the instructions for the Ramone's Hydrocal structure called for a pair of cardboard stiffeners in it. Confused but I put them in anyway.
IMG_7937.JPG

Then I realized that they might be there to actually support the cardboard roof which will have some Hydrocal castings on it.
Then I got the major signs "painted on the building" and the third floor windows installed.
IMG_7940.JPG

IMG_7942.JPG

While all of this was going on, I painted both sides of the roof to prevent warpage, and installed it.
IMG_7944.JPG

Up next is adding the glass to the second floor windows and installing them, along with the two ground level doors. I cannot decide whether to fasten the loading docks to the structure itself, or just to each other. Attaching them to the structure will add to it's cumbersomeness and give me something to knock off.
After the handling it's going through right now, there are a few spots that I need to touch up the paint before dull-coating the whole thing.
All in all, I am satisfied with where I am at right now.

Louis - My wife told me that yesterday's Cowboys/Patriots game was a cliffhanger that went into overtime before the Cowboys notched their first win ever against Bill Belichick. I did see an interesting statistic when passing through the game room noting that since 1960, when both the Cowboys and Patriots came into their respective leagues, the Cowboys have scored more touchdowns, at 2500, more than any other team. Patriots were 5th but I don't remember the number, or the other three teams.
Mikey - I don't always crop out my fingers in photos, but I am reminded of the story that I read recently about the FBI finally tracking down someone that they wanted; when they were able to lift a fingerprint pattern from a Twitter photo where he was showing off some ill-gotten gains.
Nice work on the trailer.
Stephen - Glad that you could join us here in the Coffee Shop.

Got to go now, everybody have a great day. Stay safe as usual.

Good morning global modelers and to Stephen, welcome aboard!

It was a chilly wake up this morning at 40f/4.4c. It is a beautiful clear sunny morning and the weather app claims mid 70/21.1 for today’s high. Should be nice when I ride the green goat to trim the grass. The color on the trees is changing and I asked Terry if she wants to do a scenic ride, nope.

Ramone’s is looking good WILLIE.

Enjoy the day

Much better! Thank you ....

Do you mean there is more than ONE?

I thought I was viewing a triple-decker!

OK - I pick the one on the bottom - It has wheels too! 😁 :)
Ok Mr. Smarty, yes it is 3 cars stacked so YOU wouldn’t need an optivisor to see the color difference on the side bars! I am not putting wheels on them for you, but they are needed to roll along the tracks.

I cleaned the bench, now he wants wheels, next he will want to come along to Maui…

We’re going to Maui?
Do you want my address so you can send the tickets?

OH, I am so far behind!
GUY -
Cool, nice photo of the beaver - bully!
Willie -- Outstanding work on that scene - I'm impressed!
The only thing it needs is for the tank cars to be 8 and 10K gal tank cars. All the vehicles seem to me to fit the smaller RR tankers?
Also, the current build is looking really good ... when you started on it ... I had my doubts, but I have never built a plaster structure.
Karl - Congrats to the #4 son -- That is a great accomplishment!

Doesn't look as if the Dodgers are going very far! Just when I had made up my mind that I needed to pick a team to support - as I have been undecided for years --
A. Pullhole (Mr. I'll never leave St Louis) swinging at a pitch that hit the dirt in front of the plate - shame, shame!
Looked as if a lot of batters thought they were playing golf!
