Afternoon everybody.....I am home resting today as I took another sick day. The o'l tooth in the lower jaw is wreaking havoc on me. The antibiotics are kicking in slowly and my body is adjusting to all that crap. Fluid diet at the moment well the last 4 days. Soup and more soup...and a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches. I went out Saturday morning and visited nature and awaited a few hours. Some older does came through and a couple of the young ones. I didn't see the one I wanted for the taking just yet. I am not waiting on a buck as I will get that during the gun season. I do not like taking does that have their young ones with them. I usually wait until I find one solo. I also don't take the yearlings that 1 or 2 yrs. I am patient and will get what I want. Yesterday ....well since Friday it has rained continously. Weatherman screwed that forecast as we were not to get all this rain. No biggie. I did a little work on Sunday but not much. Tried to keep fluids pumping in me to flush out the infection crap.

Been catching up on all of your posts nice progress for some of you and all kinds of stuff happening in our world. Anybody heard from Jazz Dad? He seems to be MIA.

I am looking forward to getting started on more work with the layout now that I have all my supplies in minus a few items but we are good to go. I am planning a to take some time off in November to do the majority of my big push on advancing the layout. I also have planss to make a trip to Alabama for Thanksgiving that may lead to Florida which eh I am not crazy about but we shall see. I could care less about a Florida visit but my godsons are going to be there so that's a plus. We shall see.

Troy that shot of 765 looks great!

TomO love the paper mill scene always! That WC loco looks great!

Willie your buildings always inspire me. Incredible details.

Garry your layout is progressing nicely! I have some catching up to do.....

ShermanHill thanks for sharing that youtube video....I love my UP.....I have not seen this new MOW equipment before so it was cool to see that in action!

Ya'll have a good afternoon...

Peace.

Afternoon All,

The drywall guy was here and we're waiting to find out when he will come back to finish up. The vendor will send the missing plumbing parts but it will take about 2 weeks...oh well. The shower is operational so Dad's happy. It's just a cosmetic issue.

James- I hope you get some relief from your tooth pain.

Troy- Sorry for your issues. Nice looking steamer.

Hughie- That's only because I told him to get glasses while cutting metal.

Gary- That's very cool and you'll have plenty of inspiration.

Joe- I hope and pray things work out for your family with the MIL move. Another nice boxcar.

Willie- Nice scenes. Is Arlene back home yet?

TomO- Nice scene also.

I hope everyone has a good night.

must have been somethin wrong with mine too yest pm. IF ONLY the Jays had won 1 or 2 games more during the yr, they might not have been waiting to see if the Yanks &/or Sox would lose, so that they might make it to postseason. Hard to fathom the MVP not in playoffs. IMHO
Umm…. Stanton in 2017 & The Millville Missile 2 of the 3 times he won it(got bounced in the DS in 2014).

Other than not running my author contest, I just bounced over to Twitter for my social media fix (and here).

Catching up on some YouTube Docs discussing vaccination and communication. I should probably be writing. Or napping

Napping might be good
Troy- I think UToob is working because the issue does not appear to be affecting G:oops:gle apps.

Good Afternoon Everyone from Southeastern Wisconsin. Just arrived home from a rain filled and cloudy weekend at the cabin. I didn't get much finished other than realize that the cabin season is growing shorter and soon it will be time to drain the water and close the cabin for the next five months.

I did do a lot of thinking about the model railroad layout in the basement and how close I am to finally finishing the CM&N Railroad. I just need to force myself down to the basement and get things going. I always was disappointed at the the modest size of the layout room until I watched Randy Lee Decker, the talented fellow who is recreating the G&D lines, and in the video he remarked that the G&D was in a room of a similar size as John Allen's layout.

In case you are interested, check out Randy Lee Decker on Google and see what he is up to with his recreation. And, if you are a subscriber to MRH watch his interview and see is layout on the MRH TrainMaster's site in the August 2021 segment. Another G&D site I found is GD Lines.org which is a wealth of interesting facts about John Allen's model railroad and the story of the G&D.

John Allen was an inspiration for me and I read anything I can find about this interest man. Linn H. Westcott's book about John Allen, Model Railroading with John Allen, is a book that I've read many times. The photograph on the front cover of the book gives a hint of what's in the book's 144 pages plus should be an inspiration to all that are Model Railroaders.

Model Railroading with John Allen, a great book on the G&D layout created by Jon Allen.

Another great photograph taken of the G&D Lines.

My current C&MN is lacking bridges, large buildings and mountainous scenery. Something I would change if I would redo the railroad. But, again I'm modeling Wisconsin, but forgot that the Milwaukee Road's former Bug Line ran less than a half mile from my house and there was a wooden trestle that went over a small stream. Albeit small, it was a trestle worth modeling!

Tomorrow, I have some medical appointments, but when I return at least I'll spent a few afternoon hours in the train room. I need to clean up the room and then clean tracks and run an engine for break in.

That's about all for day.............................

Greg

Howdy ...

Today's news ..... A shooting on Amtrak's Sunset Limited in Tuscan, AZ. DEA agent was killed, and that is sad.

I see you are already talking about Facebook being down. Remarkable, the world continues to revolve,

Greg..... John Allen has been an inspiration to me for a long time, too.

Joe ..... When I saw that BP20 kit, I thought it might be a fun project.

Willie .... Apparently, the business selling those kits is a one and company. He does not sell many items as you said. I like your photos. The urban scene looks real. I wonder who is driving the 300SL in that run down neighborhood.

Everybody .... Have a good evening.

Good evening.
I'm sure y'all remember our son whose wife recently passed away, soon after his friend and coworker died.
Another of his friends committed suicide today. I really can't say much other than that, because even though this is the third death in three weeks for his immediate friends and family, those people also had family and friends that were also affected.

It's always been said that bad things happen in threes. My sympathies go out for your son for the multitude of losses in his life.

Terry, my sympathy again to your son. Watch over him he needs you and family more then ever

Good evening. Terry, please extend my sympathy.

My DIl's best friend since their arrival in New York 5 years ago, passed this morning of Covid at age 42. She leaves her Husband, Daughter and Mother, and a host of friends. She was a Realtor, working from her mother's firm, and a Kindergarten Teacher at a regional Catholic School. She was not vaccinated, because her Doctor recommended against it, because she was prone to blood clots. DIL and grand kids are pretty broken up about it, as Katie was their godmother. Meanwhile, the MIL called to inform my wife she had Bronchitis. Nurse at the facility said x-rays revealed only a developing URI. Meanwhile, the MIL keeps calling with a wild story of extensive treatments that the Charge Nurse debunks. Someone is fibbing...I think she doesn't want to leave the LT Care for a more independent lifestyle. Just what the wife needs, more stress..

Devils beat Caps 4-1 in pre-season action at the "Rock" in Newark. Devils may actually ice a competitive team this year, and are the Caps starting to show their age? Stay Tuned...

Garry: Still undecided on that nice DP 6-6-2000 kit. really looks nice. Price isn't bad ether...what to do???

Bought a new dishwasher, (Whirlpool), with delivery and installation in 3 to 5 days. (In stock at the local store). This was the consolation prize, the one the wife really wanted was available, next August... Only $200 more than repairing the old one would cost...This lack of inventory everywhere, is BS. Stopped in the Stop and Shop on the way home fro groceries, even bagels are in short supply:eek::eek::eek: Or is it just keeping the work force at minimum, saving money, and blaming it all on Covid???

I assembled two more Accurail Box cars today, they are awaiting some level of weathering.

Good morning Everybody!

Terry I'm very sorry to hear about all the tragedy in your son's life.

Facebook was down?! I did get a notification on one of my cellphones, but I ignored that. Same as I do with the news. I've been doing that for almost a year now. My health and productivity have not been better in almost twenty years. Coincidence, I don't know. I don't like to draw conclusions from so little facts. I think it has more to do with my activity. It seems to me, the more I do, within reason, the better I feel. All the while making sure my nutrition, rest and sleep are priorities. Most of my life I sacrificed nutrition, rest and sleep for productivity. I think that was my biggest mistake.

I still have a subscription to the Baltimore Sun. I feel obligated to support my local newspaper. I don't waste my precious waking hours following things I have very little to no control over. With the exception of sports that is.

Thank God for this Amazon tablet that has enabled me to turn some of my couch time into forum time! I really missed my train buddies!

Have a great day Everybody!
