Good Afternoon All. It's partly sunny and 79°. Looks like light rain just a few miles NW of me. I ran out of time this morning and I want to catch up and be current here in the Coffee Shop. So here goes...
I got back from the hospital just after noon and all is well. She's hooked up to all kinds of machines and monitors that all blink incessantly and make noises. While I was there, three doctors and a nurse came by making their rounds and were able to answer questions and offer opinions, well just the head guy. Then almost immediately after, another nurse came by to do the blood pressure and check other things. That broke up the boredom somewhat while waiting for my daughter to show up. Only one visitor at a time allowed, so I had to go but I got about 45 minutes there with her. This really isn't a bad hospital experience, but I just hate being in them. The resident doctor confirmed that all of the Covid patients were on two isolated floors, but my wife was safe because they all had to wear haz-mat suits (including shoes) when they were on those floors, which were completely removed at a negative air-flow pair of rooms. I feel better but still don't like being there.
The same head resident told us that even if we had the Moderna shots (we both did), the county health department would authorize us for the Pfizer booster. That happens to be contrary to what the CDC says though. CDC doesn't have a good track record right now.
Ken - Yes, the Coffee Shop opens in a new location every month. Nice looking dog, too bad that she's so selfish about sharing the couch!
Mark - You're always welcome here in the Coffee Shop.
Tom O - I'll echo others regarding that really great looking front-end Friday picture yesterday.
Sherrel - Regarding the hospital where Arlene is staying. For her at least, they now have Fox News on the TV instead of the "
Chicken
Noodle
News" (CNN) channel. Plus she's already found several college football games.
Garry - The leaves here have been changing colors because of the drought, not the weather. Sad to see because they're going directly to brown.
Jaz - Get better as soon as possible. Don't rush things.
Hughie - Good for you on your good health. I am fortunate as well, I have only spent four days in a hospital myself. Would have been less if I had realized that I could demand early release sooner than I realized it. The last two days were for monitoring only.
Joe - Good luck with your MIL. I covered the reasons that my wife has an extended hospital stay in an earlier post today. On the first of her original surgeries she stayed overnight because it was new to her. The option was there to be released the same day, which she took on the second replacement...ironically the more successful one.
James - Good luck with the bow hunting. It's something that I never learned to do. Always wanted to though.
Mike - My Moderna jabs weren't any more stressful than any other vaccine. Sore for a few hours the next day.
Interesting observation this morning as I drove near the hospital. Across the freeway is what's known as "The Miracle Mile" of auto dealerships in Denton TX. I drove by five of them. Honda, Kia, and Toyota were practically empty with what I estimate was less than 3% capacity. Cadillac was a bit more at my estimate of 25%, but the Ford dealership was close to 80%. The Ford place had no pick ups at all. The SUV's were a much smaller % than usual. Just an observation, no conclusions drawn. There's a Nissan and Chevrolet place there as well, but I wasn't paying attention when I went by them.
Time for a nap, y'all have a great day.
