The grandson is 10 today. He picked a Japanese Restaurant for his celebration dinner. He was not given the 5 Guys choice he picked the last 4 years
Enjoy your take away
Been a couple of years since we went to a Japanese restaurant. That sounds like a great meal!
Ours will be much simpler. Take out from Ziggie's probably.
Similar to what was done to the stock market in the previous regime.
Probably not the same institutional investors though! I also have a pretty much "stay the course" attitude. I did move some money market funds into ETF's after returning from vacation at the end of October, but not for that reason. Historically November has almost always been a good month for stocks since 1950. The year 2021 was an exception. My short term treasuries out-performed the overall market through October. Not so this month so far.

Only 6 of us for dinner tonight. Finally he is tired of 5 Guys which has superior hamburgers but there are 2 other places locally that the hamburgers are just as good and 1/3rd less expensive.
We have stopped at Ziggle’s at least 8 times in the last 3 years, great breakfast and the waitresses are a hoot when we r there.
They installed the granite countertop today. I have to wait a day before I can do anything with the sink. I tried to match up brown, bronze and whites in the backsplash with the countertop and room colors. You'll see how that all works out when I get the tile backsplash installed. I hired a tile guy for that part of the project. There's a few more panels to be added on to the cabinets. Then I can get to work on replacing the ceiling in the train room.

Swal: That’s going to be a gorgeous kitchen! Well worth the mess and aggravation!
Good evening all. The dinner went down well. A glass of brandy please, Flo.
I was in the train room this afternoon building a street scene. Still a long way to go. Will show photos of the work later.
Meanwhile --
The country scene from the control area.
I lived with my aunt and uncle in Leeds from being born to nearly four years old. Then again from six to seventeen; first in Earlsheaton, then Lower Whitley, Dewsbury. I had to have a railway wagon showing Lower Whitley. Ficticious yes, especially as the village is high up in the hills.
Afternoon All,
Slept crappy last night waking up with a headache. I did a couple of small chores then headed to the train room as MOH didn't want any help in the kitchen while she was making several breads and pies (apple, cherry, pumpkin, and mincemeat). I did finish the crane build although I didn't take any photos today. I won't be in tomorrow, but I will show it Friday. This afternoon I drove Dad to another VA cat scan of his lungs (looking at scarring). Traffic there and back was beyond ridiculous.
Swal- Very nice-looking cabinets and countertop.
David- Nice layout scenes.
TomO- Happy Birthday to your grandson.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone.
I hope everyone has a good night.
Speaking of kitchens. On Monday I ordered all the cabinets for the kitchen and kitchen island, as well as some random ones for the pantry and a bathroom (tall ones for storage). We're using IKEA ones as they'll be around for decades with replacements and upgrades etc. And there area lot of third party companies that make fronts and other upgrades and accessories for them. I read in an architect magazine about how many architects are using IKEA cabinet boxes and using higehr end fronts from the third parties in multi million dollar homes.
I don't want to pay for custom and all the other RTA or ready made box cabinets may not be around in 10 years when you need to replace or fix something or want to upgrade. Even Home Depot or Lowes may switch suppliers or whatever.
We have a 5'x10' island (the cabinets are 4x10 with a 1' over hang on one side to sit at) and two walls 150" and 177.5" (where they share a corner). We're putting in two counter depth 36" refrigerators on one end and the overn and steam oven on the other.
This pic shows where they are going. Under the overhang from the bonus space (where all the extra foam sheets are). Refrigerators on the right and ovens on the left. Cooktop between ovens and corner and dishwasher and sink between refrigerators and corner. Island has another sink on it on the far end where the pipe and wire is.
We chose their middle of the road shaker style in white with the same style in naby blue for the island. The countertop is not IKEA and is quartz and is a gray/white/black sort of thing. It will have the heavy edges that make it look 3" thick though it is only around 1 1/2" or so. I'll get a pic when its up. Drywall should start Monday as long as we get everything done between now and then we need to get done.
My Lionel Christmas Zephyr is up and running under the tree. At least it was. I shut it down because I can't remember how to add smoke fluid. I need to find the manual.
Bread is simple, but not easy to make!
I haven't made bread in years. I always did it by hand and my hands are not up to it anymore. We have a Kitchen Aid mixer with a bread attachment I have not yet tried.
We buy frozen bread dough that is exceptionally good and easy on my hands.
For Thanksgiving we have frozen dinner roll dough. It's the first time we bought them. I'll let you know how it is.
Louis: Like you, hands do not knead good anymore. I stumbled on a WelBilt machine - kinda looks like R2D2 and have been using that ( I should say those as have 3 of them ) for the last ten years. I do 'manual' and take it out after that last punch down and bake in the oven as I just do not like those round tall loaves. Sweet breads, French and normal. Have some fun, put chopped green onion and cheddar in the mix about a minute before the second kneading gets done ... yummie!

Still think that D&H had one of the top livery works in the business!
Good morning all. A blustery day with showers later.
