Willie, the long train was part of the speed matching I was doing. I normally run short trains on that layout, less than 10 cars.

Well you could always make a derailment load for a flatcar. Got this grain car from a friend that dropped it on a concrete floor. Added some more damage with gouging the side and weathering it up.

Mornin' Shop Dwellers!
Weather here is wacky to say the least but I will take every warm day I can get as it comes between now and when old man winter hits. Tomorrow mid to upper 60's? We shall see, I will believe it when I see it!
Today I am in the office. I gotta take a late lunch so I can meet a guy I bought a Bluford Shops Transfer caboose from. It was a limited run on the RR scheme D&H.....yes I know I model the UP but this is for my buddy Andy. I wanted to get it for him and surprise him with it for Christmas. I may get another one for my local D&H scheme that I have for the SNC RR we will see.
I uploaded some video this past weekend. My lady friend went to Florida for a 4 days so I have some free time to do things like that lol. I hope to re-do some pics of my 2 new Alcos I bought used from a fella who was getting out of the hobby. I got 2 C630 by Bowser Executive Line. Great runners. They have a few minor flaws that I have to address when I get around to it. I need to re-glue the horns on them and then straighten out the hand rails which will be a task. I will use a blow dryer to apply heat to get it to straighten out gently. I will place the rails on a home made jig to do this. I did buy 2 new sets of hand rails but I want to try this first. We will see how it goes. Other than that the locos run great and have nice sound! Heavy heavy haulers too! They have some serious weight in them. Being big C630 there was plenty of room in the shell I guess to have all the weight. Stay tuned I will get those videos up in a day or 2.
I am still clearing the train room out. Pulling and organizing boxes. I started this 3 weeks ago. Have a ways to go. I will then put in the new flooring in there. After that I will be taking apart the temp EZ track finally!.......to start laying cork in the yard and switches then on to one of 2 mainlines. I hope to document the progress by video and pictures. My buddy Andy will be over tomorrow to help with some of the work.
I went to a small train show the weekend before last. Meh not much to report. They're constantly struggling but a little more time and younger blood may help remedy the issues. I am not a fan of their location but I suppose it is better than nothing. I didn't buy anything but I donated some $ to them and bought some refreshments to help support them. I did meet a fellow UP guy and we chatted a bit but he is a N-scaler and I am in HO scale nonetheless we had great conversations.
Homefront, I had a furnace failure due to a worn out recirculator pump which got replaced after a 135 bucks. I am topped off with fuel oil and that hurt my wallet. My wood supply is coming this weekend more stacking required. All my yard work is done. I have a few odds and ends to address before I can hibernate inside. Hunting season is in full swing. I will steal away a couple days a week until December to bag some meat. The boat is going to be winterized soon I started to do it then I changed my mind and went out a few times in the last 3 weeks.
81 days until the Big E Amherst Train Show! but who is counting? Meeeeeeeee! lol
Hope ya'll have a good week!
Peace!
I don't think the dog's learned to read yet.
She needs to get one of these dogs then. I hear this one can drive a car:

I am!
There are usually some good manufacturer announcements.
My son stopped by Friday night on his way to Arizona and left yesterday morning with Bandit the horse and a new pup named Jet!
MOH has a better photo, forgot to download it?
Great looking dog!
Good afternoon!
I'd like to say that this is my brood - not quite yet, but I have a good start!

I knew you would know that!
Afternoon All,
Spent 4 hours at the VA today with Dad. Tomorrow MOH and I take off to the hotel until Saturday, so no modeling until Sunday. I did order a 3D printed which is for the crane operating mechanism. It's supposed to be here by next Monday. Next up is placing NBW's on the end cross beams.
Preorders- The only recent one for me is the Walthers Pennsy Western Region Tower. It was due this spring, then summer, then fall. Maybe Fall 2024.
Smudge- Great videos.
Mac- Great sunrise. That will be an awesome layout.
George- Good luck with the upgrades.
Willie- I'm with you. I hate everyone equally. I've never had much luck with white metal kits.
Sherrel- Nice photo with Jet. Why do you both have the same expression?
Bill- Interesting photo.
I hope everyone has a good week.
Good afternoon, Everybody!
This morning we saw Christmas lights and lawn decorations on our travels before dawn.
Karl don't let it get you down. November will pass quickly. Just for you my friend I will refrain from posting any more Christmas songs until Thanksgiving Day. If you stop by our house (you are always welcome) don't go into our family room. We already have a tree up with lights and decorations!
We are still seeing more Halloween lights and lawn decorations than Christmas. And a few happy Turkey lighted inflatables. I love the turkeys and thanksgiving, but I can't image there will be many happy turkeys as thanksgiving approaches.

Karl - Did Iron Belt Ken mention why he doesn't stop in here any more? I miss his layout reports.
I never approached the subject with him. He did tell me he has been very busy of late as he prepares for retirement. I have the feeling that we may see more of him after the holidays are over.

We can't leave out
Commodore Sir Frank Whittle. He invented the first turbo jet engine.
