Good Morning All. Cloudy and 49°, with a stiff steady 15 mph wind out of the north. Thanks
Patrick, you all could have closed the damn door. It looks like cooler weather for all of the ten day forecast, highs near 60°±, lows in the mid-30's. It actually looks like Thanksgiving Thursday will be the best day upcoming.
Fall is am interesting time of year here on the SFW estate. Some trees are losing their leaves,, but the native ones are not. I have a beautiful view across the road 125' away, of the neighboring farmer's wheat field, back-dropped by the woods along the dry runoff creek.
Meanwhile what's left of the tree row between the road and the field looks like this.
This is where he had the trees cleared because they were overgrown and scratching the sides of his fairly new high-dollar John Deere equipment. Because these are Hackberry trees, each of those 3' high trunks will sprout multiple shoots next spring and fill in our windbreak. Those trees are going to be my heating firewood in winter of 2024-2025.
There's a bunch here, probably more than one whole season's worth. The shredded branch ends and leaves will make a lot of mulch and compost for the garden. Right now, it is providing a lot of food (Hackberries) for the resident bird population.
Granddogs seem to be doing well, after the ground dried up yesterday (about noon), they ran around for over 4 hours, chasing my lone squirrel and whatever other hoodoo is out there. They slept soundly last night and already into this morning. Me, I shredded more leaves with the mower and shredded more brush, all eventually destined for the garden. Inside, I mopped the kitchen floor again and scrubbed out a part of the fridge; only found one container of expired food that we lost in there.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I temporarily moved the figures aside since I was bored with them. But not before I finished re-working the third one of the Chinese men. But I forgot to take a picture so I'll show that tomorrow.
Instead, I moved on to rehabbing another of the structures that I got from Chet, a Saloon called The Dusty Saddle. Since all of his sidewalks were cut from plastic "For Sale" yard signs, and attached directly to the layout table, there are no sidewalks with most of his structures, so that's where I started.
Note that one of the signs above the entrance is missing, and didn't make the trip from Montana. Easy fix, as I will make a copy of the remaining one using the computer and printer to fix that.
He was also very specific about his structure's locations on his layout and he didn't put glass in the windows that weren't facing out. Most of my structures have at least three visible sides, so I will be adding glazing to the saloon. First though was the sidewalk.
It will be ready for painting after the solvent worked it's magic overnight
Swal - There's more drawers on your floor than I have in the entire kitchen!
Louis/Troy - The noise level at Texas Roadhouse's that we have visited while on vacation trips is just as loud as the Texas location that is nearest us. It's too loud to even hold a conversation with my wife, even when I set my hearing aids to the "restaurant level" of noise suppression.
Mike - I am so glad to be done with dealing with OSHA now that I am retired. I had to take the extremely boring 30-hour training certification three times in my career, and the 10-hour training more times than I can remember. It was not something that I was allowed to skip.

Technology is a wonderful thing!
Now it is out of date before you buy it!
Most everything is out of date before I buy it except food!
Everyone have a terrific Tuesday.
