Good afternoon all. A cloudy day with showers to contend with.
Not a good night for Dawn. She is staying in bed today.
Younger granddaughter visiting this afternoon, then I take her to Brownies.

You know when you do something and shouldn't? Took some photographs of part of the layout at Leeds Sovereign Street Station. I knew the buildings were old, nearly 20 years old.. Really they need renewing. With my other challenges I may have to forget that for a little while.

Morning all,

47° with off and on rain through most of the morning expected. We received about 1/2" of rain through midnight last night and it has been raining since.

Wife decided since the 2 local grandkids were free, they decorated the house for Christmas a weekend early, especially since it was raining. Turned on the radio in the car yesterday to get the grandkids, and the wife already had the Christmas music station on the radio. That got changed, so she'll get my classic rock music...

Not much else yet. It a week of leave early days and Thursday and Friday are holidays, so hopefully it stays a quiet week.

Gotta love that recycled/outdated content MSN peddles as "breaking news". I saw a headline for the ten best Wide-Screen laptops, and clicked for the story. The newest one of the bunch was from 2021, and all were discontinued, none in stock. If that's a sampling of AI at work, they need to polish it a bit more before unleashing it on an unsuspecting public.

Ahhhh... smell that....

Smells like the Yule season is upon us...

I always regarded Turkey day as a warm-up/practice holiday for the Yuletide ones (whichever you celebrate).

During the Covid lockdown era, wife and I managed to get only meager gatherings, except for her mother's Turkey and Xmas day. BUT with her mother know in the Senior Living apartment home, the great-grandkids are starting to miss the traditions.

One of the local ones (wife's grand-niece) was plotting to take in crock pots full of food to GGrandma's tiny apartment with a bar sink and college dorm-sized fridge...

So, the wife volunteered our place. Near as I can figure, we're good up to about 10 people total. (Wife and I plus 8). We'll have 9 that day. And that's only TWO of the great-grandkids, with one fiance, one child, Sis-in-law and her partner, and wife's mother. I half expect a few others to show up unannounced. We don't have folding TV trays, so they'll be balancing plates on their laps. We don't have a dog, either, so they'll have to clean up anything they spill.

I need to call the eye doc this morning. Had pressure in one of my eyes most of the weekend, and seeing extra floaters. I'll let you know how that goes.

Good afternoon Diners. A large Scotch whisky please, Flo.

At last! I am not lazy.

All my school life I had great difficulty using my right hand. Being unable to pick things up. Catch anything that was thrown at me. Write. It was much easier to use my left hand. Quicker. I had to have tests as to why I did not use my right hand.

The result -- I was lazy in not using the hand.

All my life I still use my left hand to do things and not my right.

Recently I have had tests done on my kidneys. All is well, but the hospital did other tests.

"Did I know I had a stroke early in my life?" a Doctor asked.

I knew my Aunt and Uncle took me out of the hospital so as to die at home instead of hospital ( as the doctors at the time said I had only a month to live).

Therefore I am not lazy. I am just a lousy piano player.

Flo. Another large Scotch please.

GOOD MORNING to the EV folks knowledgeable or not (I am a not), sauerkraut aficionados (on pork things but especially a brat) European train riders (great pictures), double dipper forum diner users (just kidding as I now read MRH’s diner too but do not participate), to the drivers and wannabes drivers of those gorgeous 747’s and to those building the home.

It’s 40f degrees in So Central Wisconsin heading to a balmy 47. They are showing rain today but the app says under a 50% chance but the look outside says, yep we r getting some today!

For those who like the Walther’s Passenger cars, here is the sales code for today. I hope this helps someone…

I don’t know why but my Thursday trip around Wisconsin to the hobby shops in Green Bay, the 3 in Milwaukee and yesterday in Madison has enhanced the itch to buy not alleviated it. Other than track and paint supplies I only purchased freight cars and locomotives for weathering clients.

For myself I did an inventory update yesterday on the freight cars for the layout. When we operated on the previous layout 50 cars on the layout was pushing the limits so 40 were rotated into a 2005 session and a 2015 session. Roughly 25 +/- cars were changed out to match the era and 15+ could run for both. This layout though needs more. while designing this thing I really didn’t put much thought in acquiring more freight cars. So I have sort of been working on a list for the 6 trains that will run staging to staging. 28-35 cars fit on the passing sidings for a train.

Autorack pricing IMO is outrageous and hopefully the upcoming Wisconsin train shows will help that out. I went from wanting 2 auto rack and parts trains to 1 will be fine. I have been nibbling away at the stack trains which will now become just 1 train instead of multiple. 2 of the Crew have said they would love to run their stack trains here during a session. On previous layouts never, on this one other folks equipment will be welcome. I do expect some issues at first with standards but I think if they are solid trains of one owner equipment it will work out. I very much like detail on the freight cars but as I have written in the past some are way to fragile (mainly Genesis and Tangent). The ST operator version, the Accurail 2 bay hoppers but mainly the Walthers Mainline series of cars will be on the through trains. The local trains will be my ST Rivet Counter fleet of cars, the Athearn Genesis and Walthers Proto cars will be the main cars being switched at the industries. My Homeshops.net private road name cars by Tangent and Intermountain I am thinking about how they will be used. So, you can guess what is on the list of Christmas wish lists I sent the family!!!

Fun times purchasing, inspecting and weathering ahead for the next couple years as the freight car fleet gets built.

I hear, “what about locomotives”? I know my fleet of 5 Gp40-2w’s and Gp38-2’s are not even enough for the locals but that issue will be handled slowly and 1 at a time. When you come, bring at least 2 of your favorite diesels!

enjoy the day

I priced a new battery for a clients Chevy Volt......the total estimate was $26000.00 Did he save that much in fuel over 100,000 miles, I doubt it.
Don't forget the "charging" costs as well!

I'll try and catch up this morning as I can't do anything else! Somehow, yesterday, I tweaked my back just standing up from sitting on the couch? I thought it was feeling better last night, but this morning it is hurting even when I breathe! I just popped an Advil even though I am not supposed to use them due to the blood thinners I am on.

Glad to see that GB pulled a rabbit out of the hat yesterday and sweeked by with a win even though I thought that the San Diego Chargers - whoops - LA played a better game.

The G-Son's drum core placed third in the competition -- last year they won -- this year they had many "new" players who haven't quite learned the ropes at this time.
I sort of guessed correctly ... The Spousal Unit left with daughter and baby around 1pm and got home shortly after midnight ... I would have suffered greatly.

MEL's back I see! FLO, ask him to whip me up one of his "garbage omelets" with WW toast and a diet coke -- you do have some Sriracha sauce, right, it's been hard to find lately in the stores.

I'm going to see if I can catch up on the posts over in the corner table?

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 64°, it appears that the drizzle/mist has stopped. It lasted all day long yesterday and just made everything sloppy wet. It wasn't even enough for me to measure in my rain gauge; the Weather Underground station around the corner registered just 0.06", yes six one hundredths of an inch! It was enough that I have doggie footprints for the first 12' inside the back door that I have to mop up today. No mud, just footprints. They never manage to walk on the mats when wet.

The granddogs seem to be behaving OK on this trip. The male who doesn't visit as much has mostly quit chasing cars and is staying away from the road in general. They both rolled in some kind of animal dung yesterday before the rain started, maybe the cold water rinsing off that they got might make them act differently next time; probably not.

Yesterday was a miserable day outside with the drizzle and some occasional windy periods. At least it never got below 64°. To keep busy, I re-caulked some of the separating seams in the walk-in shower that were due to the foundation shifting during last summer's drought.

One would think that with the crappy weather all day, I would have spent more time out in the train shed yesterday. But no! I sat at the computer too much, but I did get probably 500 layout related pictures sorted and filed into their correct folders. That is an accomplishment to say the least. What little time I did spend there was mainly to run some trains from staging to staging. I didn't even do any switching! Projects mostly languished. I did rework another Chinese figure.

This fellow took a little more work. Trimmed his sprue attachment point, removed the excessive paint from between the legs, gave him a pair of blue jeans (fixing the over-painted shoes in the process), and changed his hair color. I also changed the color of his jacket from purple to blue.

I need to look at that hand to see what I missed.
I also got my bicyclist a female riding companion.

She's using the "Look Ma, no hands" riding pose.

Tom O - Hope that you're feeling better today.
Joe - Happy Birthday, I think!
James - Nice selection of those Italian train pictures.
Patrick -
wife already had the Christmas music station on the radio
Consider yourself lucky. We've had the Hallmark Christmas channel on the TV for over two weeks. And that's after a month of "Christmas in July" that they presented in July.

Birthdays abound today. From the musical side, one of my all time greatest guitarist's, Duane Allman would have been 77, Eagles member and solo artist Joe Walsh, another guitarist is 76. Politicians include Robert F. Kennedy, who would have been 98 today and of course Sleepy Joe is 81.

Everyone have a marvelous Monday.
