I take this test every other day required by the rehabilitation center my wife's in. What a pain it all is. I have little time for trains right now with visiting her and getting the new bathroom project done.
George

Is it Willie that took this test?

Family comes first, and she will likely benefit from the bathroom upgrades.

have you added safety handles, non slips - i use 2 clear ones for wash basins in the shower lol, and a seat just in case one feels a bit dizzy as someone with low blood pressure I know it is not a good place to feel out of whack, we placed grab handles for my dad then found they were the perfect place for towels if you get soap in your eyes.

Coffee - to us there is only one brand ... Cravens, and we mostly using the Morning Blend. We grind it at the store into 1Lb ( sorta ) bags. When it is down around $9/Lb we usually get a couple or three and freeze what we are not gonna to immediately use.
Sounds like good coffee!

I buy any 100% Columbian i can get for about $3/lb. The last I bought was Maxwell House at $3.99/lb.

No point in me freezing it, I drink a lot of coffee! Two sometimes three, 12cup pots a day.

As I write this my wife is making me a 12oz cup of Tasters Choice Classico instant coffee. They were out of Tasters Choice Columbian. My "night cap".

Good night, Everybody!

When we were operating an Espresso Stand - Cravens was the best. We used 'Cafe Bazza' for ...um... normal folks and 'Dexters Decaf' for those wanting light stuff. Can't find Cafe Bazza in the store and we found that the breakfast blend is really close. Cravens will still ship us 20Lbs of Bazza beans, but have no grinder any mo. It is a little more spendy than the canned stuff, but well worth it. You can actually use a little less for each pot which makes it good.

Drank MJB since I first started drinking coffee. Dad favored it, and apparently I did too, as I often blew through twelve cups a day. Or even in a couple of hours if I came over to mow his lawns (about 1.5 acres, so I need the boost).

It became harder and harder to find--the shelf space dwindled--until it eventually went the way of the Dodo bird, at least as far as finding it at the local grocery stores went. You can still get it, but not quickly, and even if you have Amazon Prime: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PM9TPI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

He used a Chemex drip through too, and I've been looking for it in their basement storage for a long time. Found it and claimed it for my own about two weeks back now. Haven't tried it again yet, but I'm sure I will like it when I do, because it allowed the use of boiling point water, and not the half boiled stuff my coffee maker spits out. Which I have to throw in the microwave even "hot off the presses," just to get it warm enough to battle a bit of refrigerated creamer.

Remember the McDonalds lawsuit? Where the woman sued (and won!) her case because the coffee they served her was too hot? Yeah, that one.
Forevermore every coffee maker you can buy will heat the water to a tepid temperature at best before dripping through. So they won't get sued for overheating the water.

I could do better in my bathtub.

Alan - The first thing that I do when cooking a turkey is to pull that damn plastic thing out and throw it away. I use a conventional digital thermometer. My mother also taught me how to "shake hands with the leg" to see if it was done. I also used to see my MIL do the same thing. If it moves freely without any resistance, it's done!
I have a service like you describe, it's called nieces and nephews. No $100 involved but they do get a free meal for them and their kids. Although I do have a niece with what we call "free range kids". They come in and she lets them loose to do whatever they get the urge to do. Thursday, one eight year old headed straight for the appetizer table and loaded 8 pigs in a blanket on a plate and devoured them all in about two minutes. I successfully blocked him off when he was returning (albeit probably just temporarily), by asking him questions about his football team and the same name Lions on the TV.
I did use one, but it was late in the game, and agreed with the pop out timer when the time came. I know the "shake hands" trick, unfortunately my turkey was an amputee. It was an 8 lb turkey breast. 😁

My nieces and nephews are all hundreds of miles away down in Alabama with their own families. It's just the wife and I and the son and daughter up here in the frozen tundra. Fortunately the grandkids aren't free range...yet. I doubt my son will allow that to happen. ;) He takes after me!

I went through freight cars this weekend. and found about 8 or so with the old style McHenry couplers. The original ones with the plastic whisker spring instead of the metal knuckle spring. What garbage! Needless to say, those had to go. The cars were Intermountain PFE reefers built from kits. The ones with the glue-on draft gear boxes. Some of those were attached with Goo. As anyone who built those early Intermountain kits may remember, they put those disasters in the box. Being more cash strapped (and more trusting) in those days, I used them. They took a bit of work to remove without destroying detail. I was mostly successful. New Kadee draft gear boxes, and drilled & tapped 2-56 holes, and 2-56 screws. Future maintenance will be easier at least! Bad decisions you make that haunt you years later! .

On my last day of work, thee employees presented me with a cake...:

My Mom would put her coffee that had gone cold in the microwave to reheat it. "Zap it" she would say.

I drink coffee at any temperature. I'm drinking the room temperature (68) 3-4 ounces of instant coffee left from last night's final cup now. I got so sleepy I could not finish it.

My Mr. Coffee should be ready now!

My wife ordered a Dirt Devil Endura Max XL vacuum from Home Depot early on black Friday. Free shipping and she saved 25%. It arrived via FedEx late yesterday evening. The FedEx driver apologized for being so late. He told me he had 323 stops to get off before he was finished! Two hundred stops can be a full 8 hours!

The super FedEx driver not only delivered the vacuum he delivered my Lionel Collectors Club of America Christmas car. To top it off he brought both packages through my side gate to my back porch and knocked on the back door! All those stops and he still makes time to follow the customer's instructions. I am impressed!

Good morning Santa Fe et all, my apologies for being absent and I missed you all for sure. I was just really busy the last month with work and on weekends the last month. Working and running busy on the weekends and the time flies by. Like some of you, I caught the sinus infection as well and still have it. Just popped in on the odd occasion. Getting colder here now slowly so pulled my train station out to work on some more and will move down to the layout again soon. Have to fix the greenhouse and hot tub today, more wind storm damaged (never stops anymore), put out Xmas lights and clean my fish tank, hopefully catch some football….

No apologies needed, only glad to see you are ok!
