Morning again,

Glad to be leaving in a little over an hour... Getting crazy.

Not opposed to electric vehicles myself per se, but when only 2 of your last 6 vehicles was purchased as new (1998 Venture Van and the '09 Colorado), they'd have to be good deals for me to purchase or change.

Good morning,

Crazy weather here, in 60 miles it was on/off white out, ice, and clear roads with no snowfall or anything. All mixed up in the commute. Never seen anything like it.

Almost didn't make a stop sign, and wouldn't you know it was right where another car happened to be on the cross road. One of the few other cars on the road.

Food - a necessity

TomO - sounds like you have a great project in the pipeline! Congrads!

Willie - gas at 2.84 - Nice! We are still at 3.59. The narrative is it is the China covid lockdown. I think it is people have to put food and housing above travel.

Terry - end of what?

Don't think chargers at a movie house is a good idea. If your car sits there not charging ya get charged more, price wise. The car would top off within 45 minutes so nobody else could use the charger while the owner sits inside the theater, but then, society wouldn't see a problem with that unless they're the one needing a charge.

If they are level 2 chargers, you're likely to finish the movie before the car is topped off unless it was full when you started and you only drove a couple miles to get there.

We have the "world's largest Costco" in SLC -- it is double the size of any normal Costco and is called a "Costco business center" but unlike every other Costco Business Center I've seen (which is not too many) this is a full large sized Costco plus a Business Center smooshed into one. ANyway, they have chargers (and only charge 10 cents kwh). They are level 2. I've wandered around a couple hours there and not filled my car (a PHEV with very small battery that was good for 20-24 miles when new) though I came close after a couple hours...

My office view this morning....all the snow is gone from the rains yesterday....more snow on the way though. My office is on Green Island NY.....an hour from home. I had 5 inches of snow 2 days ago.....

So just in time for Turkey Day....all hens though....still taste the same ...lol

By the way...."Big Jack" made it's debut on JR's UPRR thread.....

Saw this and thought of Jaz, can't think why?

Good morning all,

a slippery commute again, with light snow falling about 4 am. Every day this week has been snow and poor visibility.

Friday coming then next week Thanksgiving I have 5 days off beginning Thursday. Would like to work on the dependable suburban, replacing 33 year old hinge pins. Those things really lasted.

Wonder if any of those new Tesla's will be around in 30 years. Truth is, no one knows what the future holds, according to Doris Day

I think she was right,

A pic of my control station,

The batteries supposedly can get 400,000 miles a couple of cars apparently have, each year you will likely lose 1-3 percent of the battery, not draining the battery or fully charging ie 20-80 should give you best long term, not certain if a slow charge is better than a fast, they do keep improving the speed it charges, but there has to be a cut off I think he purposely holds something back so that updates offer improvements.

We chose the long range as a bigger battery, they were discussing trailers with pull along batteries for longer journeys but this might be an option to extend the life. we will have to see if the metal work is a rust bucket or not as time goes. On, the lack of moving engine parts should technically offer a longer life, but I agree Doris Day probably has the right of it.

The cybertruck is supposed to offer a solar panel option but only enough to limp say 15 miles but if you run out away from a top up better to limp than push which of course you should not do anyway.

Only time will tell, this month there has been so much cloud we actually had to pay 6 pounds electric for 80 miles return, sacrilege! Next day we got enough sun to scavange 50 miles free.

Dave, I have an affinity for paper mills. This is truly up my alley

I think the cyber truck is super cool looking but I would never want a big screen in my auto. At my previous job I had a full size Ford pickup late model had this big computer screen totally irritated me.

Happy to hear you are OK with Doris Day's version. I don't know why those old songs are so soothing to me but they are.

Probably because it sound's like a song and not some 5 year old having a temper tantrum.
