Probably roadworks or some such on the I-80, or width/height restrictions ?The son took this within the hour north bound on 1-35 outside of San Antonio, Texas. He thought maybe build for Bart in San Francisco in Mexico. Then he sent info that this was assembled in New York per the Bart website. Why not just take 1-80 west?

I buy 95% my hobby dollars online, heck I am a young 70! What/who is the LHS you write about?<sigh> recently learned my closest LHS closed its door for walk-in. Online ordering and Ebay only. It has been reinforced to me severely over the past few weeks just how much of a dinosaur I am - - - - but I kinda thought this hobby attracted fellow thunder-lizards. Guess it's tough for the brick-and-mortar stores.
I thought that but our Interstate system should have the same specs. TODD or anyone else in the know about USA interstate highways, any help on that?Probably roadworks or some such on the I-80, or width/height restrictions ?
Could also be the drivers going home for the nite ? or lostI thought that but our Interstate system should have the same specs. TODD or anyone else in the know about USA interstate highways, any help on that?
Must be one of those California transplants that have been coming to our great state! The son took this within the hour north bound on 1-35 outside of San Antonio, Texas. Are you sure this is going North on I35? If that is the case, he would be back-tracking for either the 20 west or up to the 40 west. I can see if this came from the East coast, I80 would be the likely hiway, except either of: Donner Pass has weather or closed in Wyoming due to wind or snow. Then south on I81, that takes you to Knoxville then the 40 West to Little Rock and down the 30 to Dallas. Now choices, 20W or down the 35 to the 10.The son took this within the hour north bound on 1-35 outside of San Antonio, Texas. He thought maybe build for Bart in San Francisco in Mexico. Nope the son was definitely heading home north on I35 and took the picture before passing him. I also thought if the cars were really assembled in Plattsburgh, New York per the Bart website, would not I-10 be a better route up to California. Are you sure this is going North on I35? If he is going north on 35, I10 might have problems and he had to go up to the 20 and west. If the final is SanFran he would go up the 5 from the 20 or 10.
Whew, that made my brain hurt!

Farthest west driving on I80 for me has been Laramie, Wyoming where I then headed south to Steamboat Springs, Co. to visit the son a few timesCould be problems in Wyoming. But I don't think there are any tunnels or anything that would prohibit that sized load. But Wyoming has high winds and as my nephew-in-law, who is from Wyoming was explaining over the weekend, when they laid out I-80 in Wyoming they were told that part of it was not ideal but they did it anyway and now he says they are working to change the routing of I-80 in those places they were warned about. Mainly winds but also snow.
I've traveled from New England to Utah more than I want to admit on I-80. But am not an expert. (Or the reverse)
Interesting thoughtCan’t imagine why he’s there coming from NY. That load ain’t that big. Maybe it came off a boat in Houston.
Even though I responded to Smudge617 that OTR truckers don’t get lost. It’s either the weather or he is lostWe see them 80 in Wyoming on occasion. Maybe the weather?
Permit loads are required to follow the route the states give them.Even though I responded to Smudge617 that OTR truckers don’t get lost. It’s either the weather or he is lost
I'd be hating life if the state gave me a route that sent me North through Texas with a load from New York-San Francisco.Permit loads are required to follow the route the states give them.
I’ve had my share of routings, but they are usually no surprise. This guy had to be coming out of Houston.I'd be hating life if the state gave me a route that sent me North through Texas with a load from New York-San Francisco.
