I wonder whether ‘humans’ rise and fall, archaeologists found evidence of a nuclear war, myths the bible whatever talks of previous high civilisations, the bible refers to the four horsemen, war in its wake often brings famine, pestilence and death, we know there was a mini ice age in the medieval times ice fairs on the Thames, we know the Romans were here growing wine if not olives, we know you could once walk from the UK to Europe with no water in between, there is a lot of evidence water has been high enough in the Uk to turn a large area into islands, and we know that a number of towns that are now inland where once sea ports, so water has been higher and lower. we have a recurring theme of aliens. the Egyptians have hyroglyphs of what looks like space ships batteries and helicopters, crystal skulls made in South America were made by technology we cant copy-yet.
Metals rust easily, plastics break down easily, space anomalies infer there is an ‘invisible?’ Planet in our solar system.
The plastics in the see are likely responsible for the decimation of sea life.
There is evidence that Africa had large energy system likely batteries.
Humans by their nature destroy any history that makes them look bad as they conqueror.
2000 thousand years is peanuts, and yet we have evolved great technology in that time,is it likely we did not do this before?
The only thing I do know is that far more escapes us. As individuals many people care, but the powerful and rich got like that because they do not, and they often prevail.
I like the idea of a God who offers us salvation, but the idea of a Devil, of a God of Death also trails through our history. I wonder if the tales of a Pandora’s box / a holy grail is a record of power.
We argue over carbon dating and the earliest civilisations as in how long ago they existed. we think ourselves technically advanced, but I bet all those we look down thought themselves superior, Iron Age, axes, copper age swords, steel age swords again, plastics do clever things but return to their original state untraceable as the items they formed.
Today your plastic bags fail, tomorrow double glazing will crack and fail. We thought aluminium safe now blame it for dementia. asbestos, cigarettes/nicotine. Even the common paracetamol and ibuprofen damaged your body if over used. Hell sugar is causing diabetes and cancer and likely Parkinson’s and dementia, seed oils eg sunflower when heated more than once are in fact tans oils safer to use saturated meat oils.
The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.
You pays your money you take your chances. The one thing we know death is inevitable.

I think the Earth is older than what they think. Someone was here from different places lets say as you can see from Egyption paintings for example, or they had some pretty good drugs and imagination back then. Anyway, The slate was wiped clean with a global flood which other civilizations have recorded, and in the end no matter what you believe I think we're going to have to answer to to someone for our actions here on earth.

I'm a card-carrying Dudeist Priest.

Seriously. I have an ordination card in my wallet.

And if I go dig my colander out of the cupboard, I can also scrounge up my Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster ordination papers.

There are some good reasons that religious discussions are best held in person across an adult beverage. It's far easier to sense tone and inflection, and not degenerate into arguments when discussion is the motivation, but ... the internet and lack of the aforementioned understanding of inflection and tone.

In other news:

I took this photo this morning. Typing The End always calls for a celebration, and it wasn't time for whiskey, so candy...

Now back to editing

The end?
Really?
I thought that was a dead story suffix decades ago.
It's redundant to the final paragraph or sentences of the book.

Eg.
The hero kissed the gal then got on his motorcycle and rode away, into the sunset.
The end
Riding into the sunset already says this adventure is over

The style book for most of my journalism career was:

-30-

Code for End of document, to alert the typesetter that there was no more to the piece. Now it’s a signal to the AUTHOR that we’ve finished the tough work. Now it’s just rewriting and editing

“The End” actually changes in the published work, esp in my books. But a common courtesy for the reader to let them know they've hit the end. So I’ll do a form of “more adventures await our hero in the next saga…” or such

The next sentence tells them there is another chapter hiding on my website, and go register to get it. Sort of the end-credit bonus scene. But you don't have to check it out. Story is technically at it's conclusion

This just came across my desk:

I enlarged the video, and I think I see the cause of this accident. Watch what the engineer is doing, instead of operating the locomotive.
Upon further review:
  1. The Engineer was not looking ahead, but was waving to the passengers. Fireman was most likely tending to the fire, and would have had a limited forward view.
  2. Engineer, conductor, and other crew members failed to notice main line switch not aligned for their movement, and obstruction aheadof movement
  3. Amtrak MW employees failed to properly align and lock switch after clearing into siding, as required by rules.
On the whole, this was a completely preventable occurrance, with numerous employes of two railroads guilty of Rules Violations and resposible for occurrance. It is indeed fortunate that the passengers were not involved nor injured.

I am, or at least was until my forties quite the skeptic. But when the second of my younger twin brothers died of cancer in 2006 my mind was opened to a new idea. Ideas.

It came from two different and juxtaposed sources, but at the same time: There was a social worker...a volunteer...who tasked herself with trying to help family members of patients, and particularly terminal patients with resources which might aid them in dealing with and/or accepting the situation and the expected and inevitable aftermath.

The other was mom, who did read "metaphysical" materials. Mom bristled at the influence of the former, but I couldn't help but note both of them recommended the same book: "Journey of Souls," by Michael Newton.

It required a certain suspension of belief--what I would call belief grounded in "normally understood, earthbound science,"--but because two people coming from two different directions ended up giving the same recommendation, and because I was also more than a bit distressed and on uncertain ground at the time, I gave the book a look.

From early on, there were things about it that sounded more than a bit familiar. It starts out with relatively common experiences: "I'm dead, there is a white light...a tunnel," etc. All fairly common themes today. But as it progressed further, there were some quirks that "rang a bell," so to speak.

I won't spoil the book for anyone who might care to peruse it. IMO it would be worth your time. There is also a companion book: "Destiny of Souls," however understanding and appreciation of the latter requires reading of the former: The second book's pace is much faster, and clearly assumes familiarity and understanding of the first book.

===========

I often speak of the first book as "The book I love to hate," and there are a few reasons for that I won't go into here. But, and that said, I think there is more positive than negative to be gleaned from it.

Christianity: I will always support anyone the full right to any and every belief Christians hold as this/their religion. Any curtailing of those earthly rights brings to mind Voltaire: "I may disagree with what you say (or in this case believe), but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Absolutely.
With regard to some other religions...the cults of satanism, or islam both, for example...not so much. Not only are they both on their own, but I am in direct conflict with all of what I feel are...those cults...and ideas, in both cases. I would reverse Voltaire, in fact. and find motivation not to support them, but to...actively...work against them (I will leave it at that).

[You might notice neither of those two cults are capitalized. It's deliberate]

I was heavily involved with a lady about seven years ago, who I might have asked to marry me. I didn't and it was the right decision. She was very much of the atheistic, or agnostic view.

But among her extended family were two Evangelical ladies, for whom I will always hold the greatest admiration. They are two of the finest people I could ever hope to meet. One is a pastor, twice a cancer survivor, and is as secure in her faith as anyone I have ever met. The other is pretty much the same, so much so that she founded and still runs a World-Wide ministry. They are both VERY strong in their faith, and I have nothing but good things to say about both of them.

Both are also very courageous. Of the latter, it takes real...faith...to go to Afghanistan and preach the Gospel. But she did.

Would that I had such courage myself.

Gearshift once again. The might well be the only other joke I know.

My little sister is a top notch lawyer. She hates this joke.

Q: What's the difference between a lawyer and catfish?

A: Well...one is an evil, bottom dwelling scum sucker, and the other....

Good morning internet peeps

Nothing new to report from editing land. I'm up, and about to be "at 'em"

As much as I try, these words won't edit themselves. And the wife wants me to drive her down to Indy for a work meeting this afternoon. A dotted line boss is moving on, so they're throwing a bash at a restaurant near HQ. If she attends, she gets to see her boss, and some coworkers that she's only seen online.

I'll drop her off, then have an early dinner with a photography friend from years past.

We'll stop in and see the daughter and her boyfriend (and the menagerie of pets that irritate my asthma... she compensated for having a crap boyfriend several years ago, by rescuing cats, and a beagle)... It worked. Her new boyfriend is a keeper, and he puts up with her house full of furry friends.

Anyone know what's going on with Ebay shipping charges? I was looking to buy some stuff there today and they want $28.00 shipping. I talked with someone who I bought from last year and he told me they make money off of shipping and that'[s why it's so high. I told the guy I bought from you send it to me as a non Ebay sale USPS $3.00 or forget it and that's what he did leaving Ebay out. Not good for Ebay but they shouldn't be trying to make money off of shipping.
George

I'm inclined to think a lot of ebay sellers don't know how to include the lessor shipping charges on their item.
When ya win a auction, you can choose your own shipping method.
On religion; seems that folks will protest against the mention of a faith or religion merely because they can get action on their behalf.
Today is train club day. They have a huge 65" screen in there but no wi-fi capability to it. I found a dongle on line that plugs into the HDMI plug of the screen that accepts the "cast" from a smart phone and projects it on the TV. I'll see if I can link that up today so they can play train videos during the open houses.
News Flash: Cheating scam uncovered in the national Corn Hole competition. Some players have been found to be shaving their bean bags. ??????

Good afternoon. Haven't been on is a while because I took a little road trip before winter set in. Not really a road trip, but went to see my cousin in Deer Lodge who wasn't feeling well and then went to Bozangeles to visit my kids and grand kids while I was there. The visit to Bozeman with the impatient idiots on the road really made me appreciate Libby. Stopped again in Deer Lodge being I had to pass right by it and back home. Had my second visit for physical therapy today also.

The condo's I'm in are the first condos in the town and they don't have a clue what to do about property taxes. Some folks got their bills and some of us didn't. I have been to more county and city offices than I thought they had trying to get things squared away. One person I need to see is out of town until tomorrow. Also found out that my printer crapped out. Did order another, but not an HP. Will never ever tough another HP printer again.

Ken - I had no idea about trick or treat here and bought something that I liked. I have plenty to eat as not a single knock on the door.

Joe - Great shot of the GG-1.

Chadbag - It seems that things are moving along but WINTER IS COMING.

Willie - I really liked the Walthers diner kit. I put interior lighting in mine and a bunch of 1/87 hungry people.

View attachment 155226

Todd - I have had USAA for years but they really pissed my off with all of their passwords. I even write them all down and they don't work some times.

Curt - Like your video. More, More.

Have to run. Have to put the home made food together for the dogs and make a few phone calls. Knew I didn't want to volunteer to be HOA president.

Later
Chet: We only use our phone's for USAA stuff and have had no issues with passwords. I suspect 'the ap' takes care of the rest.
Also, you might become HoA pres - somebody with forethought needs to guide them and you would work perfect. Does not mean you have to do it for the rest of your life, just get them pointed in the right direction then get out.
