Good morning!

It feels darn cold around here at -8F. Thankfully, a warm front is supposed to move in for the weekend. I can't help but feel it's going to be a hard winter this year, though.

Willie - For the Coca-cola script. - I wetted paint onto an old rubber printer roller before, and gently rolled paint onto the face of raised detail. It does work, but requires exacting patience. The roller is just wetted and requires a few passes. Can't have lots of paint on the smooth rubber roller.
Other than that, I can only suggest careful dry brushing, or, sand it off and use a Coca-cola decal.
Love the wholesaler building!

Folks, some crap is happening around here that I don't like share or talk about with anyone outside the family. It's been affecting me in a depressive way for some time. I'm tired, but I need to take care of business for awhile, so I can regain peace and happiness. If I don't, the effects will filter through in my words on the forum. - I don't want that happening. So, I'm going to take a break.

Thank you for all the likes and comments on past posts.

I'll leave you with a brief tankcar study, and hope to have some new material when I return.

It's a darn good thing I'm not king. I'd be sending all the king's horses and all the king's men out to punish those responsible for the graffiti. It wouldn't be pretty.

Have a great day!
Sorry to hear that, take a break, sort out whatever you need to do, relax and recharge, and we will see you back soon no doubt.

Hey hey hey ! It's just a homemade DC controller. And nothing else ! :p:p:p

Morning folks!

It's 10:30 AM here. Furnace guy just left 20 minutes ago. I turned my furnace on while he was here for the 1st time. It wasn't pretty lol. He had some work to do. He arrived a 7:30 AM so he was busy. After all his service he was good to me as he and I are pretty go friends. Charged 150 bucks. Whew! Thank goodness I was thinking a lot more! He had to change the filter, put new nozzles in, change out a internal valve for zone 2 and the flush the fuel line and prime it. He had me turn the thermostats up to 70. I aint done that in 5 years lol I always have them set at 55 degrees. We let her rip for 30 minutes. All tested out good. So then I set the thermostat back down to 55. It hot in here lol

So that's done and out of the way. I will work a few hours. Then over to pops house to move a shipment of fence panels he got in yesterday. 24 of them need to go in the barn. I need to do some adjustments on my boat cover. had a terrible 4 days of high winds so I need to cinch it down a little better.

This weekend it may rain, which will suck because I need to move more firewood. I received confirmation that my new DDA40X is on the way through Canadian Espress. Should have it next Thursday. Hopefully it does well in it's travels. I have 3 boxes coming today from USPS. One is a Walthers Cornerstone sanding tower kit, 2nd one is 3 car set historical edition for D&H for my local train I am doing and last a hopper from TomO.

I also ordered a set of 2 Day cab semi tractors in white that will get UP decals on them for the yard. These were by a company called Tonkin. I will have them by Saturday as they are coming from NJ.

My boys (cats Wyatt & Doc) are chilling with me. They love it when I work from home. I swear they must be part dog too. They follow me around everywhere. Joined at the hip sorta speak. They are good company.

Well I gotta review some estimates for work. Catch ya'll later. I will post my loot later on the RPO when it hits my front door today.

James - Cats? and no Pics? Please post a shot or two of your small friends, if possible;

also, good luck with the wood chores this weekend. It looks like the snow is missing us (YES!) for now so I will be doing some moving wood and splitting as well.

Wyatt Earp (grey tiger tomcat) & Doc Holliday (grey & white) both weigh in at 22 pounds. They are barn cats I rescued 4 years ago. They were approximately 18 months when I got them. They were 1st in a kill shelter then moved to another shelter where I got them at. At the 1st shelter they were only 6 months old and were in the 2nd shelter for 12 months before I found them. There names were 7 and 8 at the 1st shelter then Jim & Jerry at the 2nd shelter. The story was they were with an elderly couple and one of the spouse passed away and the 2nd one couldn't take care of them. They are now in their forever home with me. I love them! Great company and they let me know when someone is at the door or outside my house. Yup my very own watch cats LOL

Good morning, all! Weatherwise, we are still a little on the warm side and of course humid. The 10 day forecast shows a couple of cold fronts headed our way. I do have a few outdoor projects that I have been holding off just waiting for cooler weather.

I have been working in Microsoft Excel, building a switch list generator. I have 12 cars, each with 6 industry destinations and 4 cargo options. All of it is random. Additionally, there are two, 3 car tanker sets that move either to or from the chemical plant. I have the formulas for the random car movement complete. The formulas for the random cargo will take a little longer to write.

Other than running a few trains, nothing to report.

Overall pic of current layout.

Its about 30-32F here. Watch says 32F but I think that is over at the airport or something so probably a little colder here or at the house. I really need it above 32F (ideally much warmer) as I am still putting up sacrificial foam panels on the outside of the basement level using contact cement. I did it all using spray contact cement last Saturday but it went on too thing or something and didn't stick well and Monday it had all fallen off. Monday afternoon a little and Monday night until almost 7am Tuesday morning I was using a brush on contact cement which holds really well (not foam friendly despite the green check on Lowes website but my foam panels are sheathed in a plastic film or a paper/plasticky film depending on panel so no problem). I only got two walls finished. Tuesday it rained and yesterday it rained and snowed off and on so couldn't do more. Today is sunny but cold. I need to finish as they are up there trying to backfill and stuff. So bundling up and heading out.

That is one busy place to be.

Afternoon All,

Well it looks like we made it through another one. We should be clear by 6 PM. We've recieved 5" of rain and the highest wind was around 60 mph. A walk tomorrow morning will feel good after sitting on my butt for more than a day. Nothing train related to report on.

James- Beautiful looking kitties. I live in a town called Winter Garden (west of Orlando).

George/Swal- Neat magic. I'm glad your wife is doing OK. I sometimes think medical facilities have some of their rules to keep family away.

Willie- Nice Business's. I thought you had a monster spider scene! 😂 What I do is paint the entire thing base color then use a foam brush with the accent color on the tip (almost dry) then run the edge of the brush lightly over the raised trim section held at a shallow angle.

Dave- Neat pictures.

Hughie- Great layout shot.

Smudge- Nice set of cars.

I hope everyone has a good night.

After some green eyed jealousy at the weathering guru TLOC's work, I bit the bullet and bought these, not bad all 5 for £45 inc p+p, that's about $10 each, should be here Saturday.

Now I suppose I'll have to get a Santa Fe loco to go with the caboose

I really like the Soo Line cars.I can’t wait to see what you do with the other 3.

Clever work young man! Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

As always I love the photos of your layout!

I just finished replacing the valve cover on our 2016 Cheverolet Sonic. I had to replace the valve cover because the PCV valve is built into it!

A job that should take no more than twenty minutes. It took me nearly an hour! My big old hands don't like all these little plastic clips.

Map shows we are out of the rain but it is raining out. Proves you can't trust the weather man! They should have a window or something in their office.

Curt - 5" rain! Holy cows!

Hughie - Great layout shot, nice to see the whole thing!!

James - I can't believe those guys weigh 22#, they don't really look fat like some of the "chonks" on the internet (I think thats right)
THANKS for posting their pics, they have a nice home there!

Chad - I hope the weather is a little more cooperative for you

Smudge - nice freight cars.

Louis - we had the valve cover gasket replaced this summer in our Sonic.

Took it to the shop, I told my wife those always leak but she insisted we get it fixed. Cost around $400 mostly labor, we have 150,000 miles on ours. I am glad we fixed it, I like a clean engine

I'm pretty good with an excel Spreadsheet. A while back, I created a file to create random consists.

I'm not able to upload Excel file types, but the gist is that you make a roster that is a list of cars, and assign a randonly generated number to each car on the list. Then, you rank each item in the list based on the random number. The list of available cars always stays in alphabetic order.

Then, make a new table that is enumerated 1- whatever. Use a VLOOKUP formula to pull in the car that was ranked 1 on the first row, 2 on the second row, etc.

I'll be happy to send you the file so you can see the formulas.
