Well, howdy theere inteerneet peeeps

(today's extra Es brought to you by Steeeve)

It's Troy again

Today is NEW BREAKER panel day. So 8ish hours without mains power. I've got the power banks set up throughout the house now. One in the kitchen for the main fridge. Biggest one in the basement for the Diet Dr. Pepper fridge and the new freezer. One in the living room for the wifi router and power for my computer an assundry chargers. And one in the wife's office.

Of course, today is one of her busy days. But we never know about her workload. Too much of it depends on client requests, and whether other departments have done their part of the process in a timely manor so you can build their parts into the master plan.

And they all hit yesterday at 3pm... so a busy day for her.

I do need to text the neighbor this morning, and ask permission to run an extension cord to their power, just in case wife drains her power station. With the clouds predicted today, I'm not sure if I can get any juice from the solar panel or not?

I'll post more, later, as the day progresses. Right now I need to get some words worded before the electron pushers show up.

Which Guild do you belong to?

Many years ago, a tech worked in our shop that was more than a little wrapped up in himself. I wrote that in the dust on the top of his tool cart. It took him a couple of hours to notice, but when he did, the cart got cleaned really quick, and the next day the cart had a nylon dust cover on it.

Good morning gang!

69° under clear skies heading to a high today of 92°. They were calling for rain today but it seems as if they have pushed that off 24 hours. That is good news for the local volunteer fire department as their carnival started last night. I might have to go by there this evening and get one of the famous pit beef sandwiches, you know, help support the local fire guys.

Interesting that the gent I purchased the HO loco from last week was showing off the 3d printed tow motor (forklift) models, pallets, and crates he purchased from "some guy in Switzerland..."

I wonder if that is someone you might know?

Good morning all!

A cloudy dark morning with some light rain falling. Weather app says it should all move out of the area by mid morning. wonder if
they will be as wrong today as they were yesterday. They got the afternoon right but blew the morning forecast pretty badly. Currently
a humid 65F with the high supposed to be around 75F.

Usual stuff around the house today. Have to run my daughter to school early for some club meeting and a breakfast. Cant believe
her Freshman year will be over Thursday. That year flew by and I almost didn't even notice.

Check back in later.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 79°, which is supposed to be our high for today! Yesterday's forecast called for thunderstorms beginning around midnight with .5" of rainfall. Whooops! That changed and now the forecast is for 1.5" , all between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. There's no telling what might happen today. It's raining south of here in SE Texas and north of here in OKC, but there's a 250 mile gap between the two areas; and a significant difference in the type of precipitation falling. Definitely thunderstorms up north and gentle intermittent showers in the south. Had to use the A/C in the bedroom last night!

So today's plans are still up in the air. We're supposed to take the Lexus in to the dealer for it's new windshield at 10:00, 65 miles away. My wife was going to deal with it alone, but if it's raining, I get to do the driving instead. She doesn't drive in the rain or the dark.

While I made it out to the train shed yesterday, I didn't do much except to clean another dozen or so structures. Minor repairs on two of them, but like many in this area, no additional detailing was done. Following up on a thought that someone here planted in my head over the weekend, I removed the engine and drive train from a Bachmann Spectrum Dash8-40CW and made a dummy out of it. That is one way to improve the running ability of that engine! I'll be adding it to a consist of either Kato or P2K units since the detailing doesn't fit the quality of my ScaleTrains units. Directional lighting still works. I have another but it is more problematic and will have to wait.

Todd - That's a significant weight gain for Lil in just 10 days. Is it a normal gain?
Mikey - Make sure that you get out and vote today. I get a lot of political texts on my phone, because the previous owner of the number donated to a certain party's cause over 15 years ago. I get them from candidates all over the country, not just local. I've probably blocked over 100 numbers since the beginning of the year.
Troy - Good luck with the new breaker box. Hopefully Mr. Murphy is still relaxing at Terry's house.

Everybody have a great Tuesday.

72°F this morning. Was supposed to be in the low 80s. Now they backed that down to the high 70s. Probably be frost by tonight with the way they prophesize.

Anyway, rain, possibly severe later in the day. I was expecting it by 0700, but the severity has lessened as it came across Missouri overnight. It may strengthen as the day goes on.

Nothing going on today again. If the rain moves out by tomorrow I'll probably cut grass. At least by now I can see the uncut rows. Might get to the train room later after lunch today, and that my day.

Have a safe day. Servus!

Here's the old box:

box 1.jpg

They removed the home-built cover box around it.

Now I wonder if I should strip the paint off the pannelling and go back to the 1960s look? ;)

In other news, our Frontier Fiber Optic connection didn't like the switch to battery backup... I've tried two different power station batteries on it. The router, (not the fiber optic connection box) works fine. But no bueno on the internet connection.

Doing a hard reset on it right now. Unplugged, waiting 10 minutes, then plug it back in and see if that resets it.

This is a good test for our battery system.
We'll see how long it can go.

Good morning. We won’t even make 65 for the high today.

Gas locally last night was $4.69 per gallon. I topped the tank off. I remember every other night on the way home from the office I’d top the tank off but can’t remember the year. It’s that way again, who knows what tomorrow’s price will be. In my case now though the 6 gallons I purchased took 10 days to get that low. Retirement, it’s a wonderful thing…

I wish I could call my friends and tell them what stocks to buy or sell because of something I’m going to say at 10am tomorrow

Today I am working on my own paper mill design. I’m pretty happy with the 1st 30” x 30” space. Now I move up to the next 30” wide x 42” long space. This is where the bleach plant will sit along with tracks on each side of the building. Ai created this inspirational image
IMG_6408.png

per my requests using a scan of my hand drawn graph paper sketches and dimensions. The building’s framing will be 1/8” birch laser cut. Overlaid with plain sheet .040 styrene painted a concrete color, textured and painted. The building will be 10” w x 38” long with the height of 10” in tiers of 7” and 3”. The base the building will sit on will be 12” x 42” and be made of 2 laminated sheets of .060 styrene. I truly am excited about this portion of the project. The 5 bleaching towers are supposed to be available this week for my pickup. I have a bunch being printed. Today I start on the base

Enjoy your day

Willie: Maria says that it is probably a little low cuz she has been sucking powered goat milk replacer mixed with water. Remember she was a 'forced' runt and does have a lot of catch up to do. I still do not know what breed of goat this is - consensus is 'Milk Goat' whatever that means. From my dealings with Pygmy's and babies, they grow like weeds until about 5 months old, then things slow down. We still have another 10 or 15 days before she will start munching on hay/grass. She has been tasting it sorta, but no cud chewing; 2nd or 3rd stomach provides for that, but are probably filled with the milk replacement for now. Heck, I even asked Maria if adding some Colostrum for a couple of days would help. Answer surprised me. That is only good for the 1st, maybe 2nd day, after that it just passes. She also can suck, pee and poop at the same time. Bath towel handles the mess, new one everyday. We judge by 'tongue in cheek' calculation that the volume coming out is way less than the volume going in. What would happen to you if you drank a 16oz tumbler of fresh whole milk with the cream remixed in 4 to 6 times a day for a week? She is getting louder and has a great set of lungs. Yes, I did give the mix a try - sweet, and a little gritty, and I suspect the calorie count is out the window. Can almost jump into Maria's chair. When that happens, no more loose goat in the house.

Life is fun!

Welp... finally figured out the problem with the internet

this little box behind the TV escaped my notice and wasn't plugged into battery power.

It is now.

We have internet and can turn off the phone hotspots.

The electricians got this far, then headed to lunch:

How is your battery power holding up were you able to get some solar?

How is your battery power holding up were you able to get some solar?
Wife's power, plus kitchen, plus the various electicals is down to 61% on a C1000 Gen 2s or a Gen 1 (3 batteries total)

Fridge and Freezer downstairs on the C2000 Gen 2 is down to 74 %. It's also running a couple of LED strip lights and the cat's water fountain.

We could do solar, but I'd have to lay the solar panel in the main traffic area for the elctricians when they run to and from their truck. I don't want a trip hazard unless I have to.
