Just got home from my G'niece Emma's Graduation Ceremony for two college nursing certificates and he High School Graduation is next Friday! So proud of her, she is already such a hard worker. Really nice ceremony with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Listening to the Cardinal's baseball game, they're at San Diego tonight. You guys have a great night.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 58° with some rain to the south and east. But not here!. It was belatedly added to the forecast overnight. Might just reach 80° today due to cloud cover; with the next cool front hitting around sunset on Sunday. I've been hearing rumbles all morning, but nothing in the gauge.

Grocery store trip yesterday went as planned, with just the usual stock-outs that I've come to expect. Prices aren't coming down except for eggs! The price of gasoline has finally broken the $4 mark with $4.19/gal almost everywhere. The same guy that promised us cheaper groceries hasn't come through on gasoline either.

While not depositing anything in the rain gauge, it has seemed that it has sprinkled enough to eliminate yardwork for this morning. I'll have to see if we get any wind to dry things off for later. I don't seem to have a honey-do list this morning either, so I may just hit the train shed early. Or just cruise the Internet for a while.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I worked unsuccessfully on a ScaleTrains SD40-2. It got frustrating so I left the workbench and ran trains instead.

John - My late neighbor swore by the VA medical services around here, but only since 2000 or so. Before then, he always said that it was the last place that he wanted to go. So something obviously changed for him.
Terry - Love bugs can occasionally make it up here, but mostly don't get out of Southeast Texas in the Houston-Beaumont area near the Gulf of Texas.
Tom O - Charlie Berens. is proud of those tickets. Nosebleed seats at his October show in Dallas are ~$60@, with floor seats starting at over $150@. Since I have never heard him, I wonder how his Midwest humor would go over to a Texas audience. I've read that he is really a big hit in the Wisconsin area.

Everyone have a fun-filled Friday.
Willie, he’s definitely Midwest big.

2500 seat theater packed (sold out) for the early show with most tickets in the $80 range with floor seats $150. We were in the mezzanine seats our normal ($110) for the Broadway Theater shows we have season tickets for. Good show and he is funny and a good story teller. 2nd show tonight are higher priced and also sold out.

Charlie is now 39 and Terry and I saw him at the local comedy club in she says 2015. IMO worth the price then and still tonight. His YouTube channel has some good bits…

Have a great day!;)

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with alarms, chili relation or not

It's Troy again

Wife made a chicken stir fry for dinner last night, then two mini cheesecakes in the Instant Pot. Said I couldn't touch them until today because they had to "fridge up" overnight.

So I made popcorn for a snack.

Wife's sister got us a bag of popcorn - that was grown and harvested in the county where my wife grew up. Her sis is classmates with the gent that owns the farm and produces that label. OK, I saw the same deal at the grocery, so we now have three bags of it.

But, we don't have a popcorn popper. Sis sent paper bags over to microwave pop in.

That's thoughtful, but I want the salt to stick to the popcorn, not fall off and hide in the bottom of the bowl. You gotta cook popcorn with oil.

So I saw this online, and bought it, figuring the melt the butter in the lid would create the right environment to coat the popcorn enough for the salt to stick.

It's MEH! on the butter flavor going throughout. And I've only gotten about half of the pitcher to fill with popcorn. You have to be right at the microwave. When the pops start to fail... pop... pop....... pop, hit the stop! or you burn it. The butter melting in the lid, slightly better than trying to drizzle it on after. But not by much.

Drizzling it on after, just super coats about a dozen kernels, the rest - you might as well just do a magical wave with a stick of butter above the bowl. It'll have the same effect.

I want to try the Alton Brown method of popping the corn. But I need some refine Ghee, A stainless steel bowl, some tongs, and a hedgehog.

No, scratch the hedgehog. That's another chef.

I've only got nine bags of microwave popcorn left - i pop that if I burn the test batch. I need to get the popcorn method dialed in soon!

Later today, we're off to Cheddars. Wife thinks she can stick mostly to her "clean diet" to help her inflammation issues. then we're heading to the appliance store to see what a small chest freezer will cost us. Since we're 10 days away from the new breaker, that should be about the correct timeframe to get the freezer delivered.

Good Morning All!

@migalyto: Ya we call it Fradar ( food radar ). Jake can be out near the NW corner of our property - 400Ft-ish and can hear the dog food bucket/can opened in the house and comes running, usually at the dish watching making sure we fill it right before the second scoop gets close to being dumped. Funny thing is that he does not take one bite when we are done filling; waits 10/15 minutes, then eats.

Cats: For those that have cats that have adopted you ... Hair balls: We used to shoot the anti-hairball stuff down their craw with a needle-less hypo. Took two of us as one does not have enough hands. Found an easier way. Scoop some on your finger and wipe it on a front paw. They spend the next 10/15 minutes licking it off. All the headache goes away. Why didn't we know this *years* ago?

Yesterday, I grilled a chicken for over 2 hours - it still would not tell me why it crossed the road.

[Edit]
and I forgot, Cats do the same thing except only when they are in the house. They can hear that 1st scoop hitting the dish. On top of that, if they can see the bottom of the dish, no matter how small a hole - they come and tell us yowling and follow us in to make sure it gets filled proper.

I have come to the conclusion I am in a small minority of Americans.
I was reading about a survey of people who attend church. Less than 50% attend weekly. I usually attend Sunday School, traditional church and I sit in the choir.. My income is from Social Security and a small pension. I paid off my mortgage and two not new cars. We was able to help my grandsons some with their schooling.
My hobby is fading in popularity as I enjoy building railroad cars and structures from kits and scratch building some items. I belong to a model railroad club that is promoting the hobby and teaching young and old newcomers about model railroading.
I have been married to the same woman for over 59 years and get along with most of my family( but not all). I go to family reunions and like finding out about my family history. We are pretty ordinary with a few heros and fewer black sheep.
I can exist in this electronic age, but I prefer reading a book to computers and tv.
I guess I am an antique but I am reality satisfied with my life.

We all have to deal with things and people in our lives, but the people on this forum seem to encourage and support one another.
i guess that is why I have hung around here for over 20 years.
