For those of us who are into rock music history, Craig Fuller was the founder and guitarist of the soft rock/country rock group Pure Prairie League in the early 70's. Among his many composer credits was the top 40 recording of a song "Amie". Later in his career, he replaced the late Lowell George as frontman of the band Little Feat.
I saw him play with both bands, with Pure Prairie League at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin in 1972, and with Little Feat in the late-80's sometime. I don't believe that he is the same person in the video.
I remember Pure Prairie League…Little Feat

I have no real ideas on the tariff article.. though it sounds entirely well presented and plausible to me…

I will wait and see if prices go up, availability goes down, or the reverse, or nothing… for the most part I have enough rolling stock to keep me busy going forward

For those without Facebook, here's the link to it on youtube:

Interesting that it's got a LOT of industry leaders discussing the realities of what it means to their businesses and to the hobby.
Kadee is not in this group because their products are made in the good ole USA. Also Accurail is made in the USA. For me Kadee freight cars are as nice as Rapido and are LESS expensive. Tichy made in USA at reasonable prices.
All the mfg who have gone overseas have sold their souls. They didn't go to China to save you or me money, they went there for greater profits.
If Kadee can do it, why not other mfg?
Just my thoughts......

You nailed it....China = greater profit margin....You summarized why I believe Fullers Video and all the other propaganda is self serving.

Good afternoon to all..........

I've finished my real work ( make a living type work ) and hope to get back to the train room.

We had a tornado pass over a couple of days ago. I was blessed and sustained no damage other than my mail box being blown over.
My neighbor has a feed lot and equipment storage area just east of me on highway 82. He had a diesel truck and trailer blown over, roof damage over storage area and a grain bin was blown onto highway 82 just as a tractor trailer rig came by. The tractor rig had to be towed away. Several tractor trailer rigs were blown over on nearby roads. Lots of sheet metal scattered in fields and some was hanging from power lines. Some power poles blown over to a 30 degree angle from horizontal. Town of Seymour, about 18 miles east of me was flooded. Some intersections were completely covered and water up to front of some businesses. I spend Wednesday night in a motel in Seymour as I had no power at my place. The motel sits on higher ground and still had electricity as they use a different power provider than I have. We have rain in the forecast for next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Some fields look like lakes now. I'll be glad when all this is over.......then hot weather.
My lot looks like a jungle due to rain and sunshine during the last two weeks but I can't mow because everything is so wet.......plus I'm just tired.
There are a couple of videos on YouTube about storm chasers in the Seymour area who tracked the tornado and had photos of local damage.

I received an Amazon envelope that was never sealed when shipped and my printer ink cartridge was long gone. Amazon has a refund situation where you can choose "lost or damaged item". I choose this option and gave an explanation of what I received. Then I hit "continue" and they tell me I have 30 days to return my item to the nearest UPS office to be logged in there for a refund. Neraest UPS office is 65 miles from me and I guess I'll just take the empty envelope as I never received an "item" to return. I'm guessing I'll end up having to call my credit card company that is associated with my Amazon account and have them credit my account. Amazon offered no option for just a "lost" item, only lost or damaged. Gotta love it.

I'll end my post now. Everyone have a great evening and weekend......John

Good afternoon. Dinner is reservations out and I’m heading off with one of my wife’s good friends who also happens to be my Endocrinologist. I’m not really sure how I screwed this up. She mentioned she wanted baked cod tonight not anything fried for Fish Fry Friday. She was talking about the next time we go out, not today! Terry headed out at noon today for Omaha and the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting. I thought it was next week, not this weekend. Terry and the daughter will meet up with the son there and they will attend the meetings tomorrow. This was planned before Terry’s health issues and while I find them tedious and boring, Terry loves it! Glad she is healthy enough again to go.

I was able to get a reservation this morning only because of a cancellation right before me. A place we’ve been to once and that was prior to Covid. The chefs have since won a Michelin award or nomination or something but since then it’s been a tough place to get in. It’s a choice of 2 or 3 meals with no choices other than a dinner time liquid. Varma and I have attended a few musicals in years past when Terry has been out of town. So other than 1 time when a couple of snobby old biddies at a musical complained about my partner it’s been fun. Varma is from India and is in my top 5 most intelligent people I know

I worked on some intermodal containers this afternoon. I have 12 of 20 completed and wrapped for shipping. Tomorrow after I return from an away soccer game the grandson plays in I will clear coat 14 chassis for these containers.

If you want to read and get a great laugh on a tariff discussion head over to the MRH forums. It’s titled A Message From the Model Train Industry. It’s a discussion (loosely used term) about the video I posted here and we civilly discussed. Joe F has let it run which is surprising but boy IMOO there are some really uniformed ignorant people out there…

On another note. The Dow was up

My experience is that Amazon doesn't actually do that when you never get it. Their system just has predefined emails or notifications. I had one recently with a similar circumstance where the envelope was empty and never sealed and they sent a new book (it was a book my daughter ordered for school). I had the "30 days to return defective item" business but they never actually charged me or cared since I had told them I never got it.

You'll have a great time and even better if it's a Michelin star establishment.

One MICHELIN Star is awarded to restaurants using top quality ingredients, where dishes with distinct flavours are prepared to a consistently high standard.
Two MICHELIN Stars are awarded when the personality and talent of the chef are evident in their expertly crafted dishes; their food is refined and inspired.
Three MICHELIN Stars is our highest award, given for the superlative cooking of chefs at the peak of their profession; their cooking is elevated to an art form and some of their dishes are destined to become classics.

I'd rather not....I prefer the civility here.

Craig Fuller was given a lot of space by Joe F and Ken Patterson on his What's Neat blog. I actually bought into the hype and took a 1 year Digital PDF subscription to MR....Hype not withstanding still little improvement over what it was under Kalmbach. I'm not renewing. Fuller is a good communicator, but doesn't necessarily deliver. I'm not sure Joe F is as interested as he was either. I don't really have a stake in this other than a opinion.

(I imagine Ken Patterson is losing interest in producing a weekly blog cast, he's had numerous shows with little appeal, and numerous guest hosts of late...and since the election, U Tube has become a zoo of false and misleading and divisive "news " items.)

Things will work themselves out eventually in spite of what the fear mongers are saying. Some players will fold their tents, some of them not a loss, others will rise up to replace them. Especially with the proliferation of 3D printing and other new techniques. On the short term, the market will be able to absorb the increasing numbers of private down sizing and estate sales more easily if the pipeline of new stuff is shut down until it's relocated.

In honor of my late mom's birthday, we had beef hotdogs and Pollock Johnny's hot and spicey polish sausages perfectly cooked on the Weber grill. My mom loved beef hotdogs on the grill and any spicey sausages. She loved the leftovers "they heat up great in the microwave"

She was also an enthusiastic fan and devoted follower of the Baltimore Orioles. She would have been incredibly happy with tonight's result.

Orioles 3 - Royals 0

But I'm certain she would have found something to critique. She knew the game of baseball. I miss talking baseball with her, but I still have my memories.

The fear of the Orioles demise has been exaggerated.

Fear sells we need to stop buying.

Good night and good luck.

Good evening gang!

Neurosurgeon appointment went well. He's taking a wait and see approach, ordering a cat scan to set a baseline, then yearly visits and rechecks, The aneurism is small, and it is not actually in the brain, but next to it. My chances of it bursting and doing damage are less than 1%.
I left there, went to work, came home and ate. Wife did the weed whacking while I drove the tractor and got the yard cut before an expected wet weekend. Best part of wet weekends? Train time!!
Looking forward til next week, cardiac cath on Tuesday, possible stent(s) then Endocrinologist on the 15th. My poor health insurance card has been taking a beating!

I've gone back to watching car crash videos. Morbidly entertaining without the politics.
The best part of those is recognising the locations for the accidents. If it happens in a familiar local, it just seems more interesting!

Agreed! Much more civil here! One bright spot of the tariffs, If the new train market gets more expensive or harder to come by , it might bring about a great time to get rid of our excess inventory. I know myself, I could shed 100 cars and still have a crowded layout!!

Time to see the sandman! Goodnight all!
