Afternoon All,

Started out the day doing chores inside and outside. After helping MOH with a quilting project I headed up to the train room where I cleaned the wheels on 8 locomotives. Only 10 more to go. I'm not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow.

Hughie- Looks like no mold. That's good.

David- Or as I see it, they are cheating their customers. Have fun with granddaughter today.

TomO- Lucky you. I can count how many times MOH has apologized to me...one time in 46 years. Great layout photos.

Joe- That photo is right on target.

Guy- I think that will work well with scenery and landscaping materials.

Louis- Happy belated Birthday.

Smudge- The only thing that government excels at is wasting taxpayer time and money.

John U.- That's the only Cadillac I can afford.

Willie- Best of luck with the contractors. Happy Birthday to your grandsons. I am very sorry to hear about the water leakage on the layout. We have the scavengers here also.

Mac- Very cool photos.

Troy- You definitely need that legal paperwork. I have all of it on Dad.

I hope everyone has a good night.
If it’s happened before Curt, I don’t remember it…

I started the morning out before the window salesperson showed up running a train from the Papermill yard to the Papermill. What I thought were track issues were actually 1 freight car with bad couplers. Then while switching the layout found that my tail track that feeds the loading dock was too short.

Took most of the afternoon to cut grass. After that back to the layout. No way around it but I have to re-arrange some track, add some track and move the buildings around the north end of the paper mill

Before I started:

This is what it looks like with buildings removed

Then add the buildings back, but 1st a couple fails of many, many…

Moved the bleach tower, acid tanks, cooling towers, the Kraft mill building and finally put the blue and white Bio-mass building back in the corner behind the Kraft building

This maybe the new arrangement. The culprit to start these changes has moved 40” from its spot. Now there is plenty of space for loading and unloading the dock. If I still like it in the morning I will remove the trackage and draw out the new.

I did lose a “wet” chemical spot leaving 2 spots. I have a couple ideas I will work on in the morning but I need the 3 spots.

I did check I have plenty of construction materials available for scratch building. There is 26” gap that needs to be filled in

Ugh... Coffee FLO, better start an IV of it.

Awake at 2:30a with tinnitus flaring. got up, put the hearing aids in with the tinnitus masker running.

TomO: We can always tell when you've returned to the layout at the "Office" house. The backdrop painted onto the poured concrete walls are the give-away.

As for me, once we get Mom's affairs settled, and the apartment cleared, I hope to get back to my layout. Knocking wood that I don't injure by back again getting the last batch of furniture out of her old apartment.

I think I may retire that old thread in my signature, and start a new one for the new layout. As of now, this one looks like a keeper if I can get myself to a stage to do the bendy-twisty work to finish the main design.

That's enough for now. I'm feeling a nap coming on.

Good morning. It's 72 and clear, heading for the century mark again.
I made an interesting discovery over the last couple of days. One of my neighbors seems to have a Samsung TV or blue ray player. When I've returned from work, my TV and disc player have been running. I did the obvious remedy: I unplugged them, and they will remain that way until I need them.

Yes sir they are a give away. Based on the arguments (I mean discussions) I might be in my last house…

I still have 60’ of framework installed at the son’s place in Austin, nothing in Hawaii

Good morning all.

Another bright sunny day today with temperatures in the low to mid 70s and no rain in the forecast.

Today’s agenda is to finish up with the pool and pull out all the patio furniture and hose reels. I’m sure my wife will have something else she will deem priority.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning from cool @ 48f degrees So. Central Wisconsin under clear bright skies. The guessers say low 70’s for the high today. I have to run the trimmer around the raised garden beds before the Weedman shows this afternoon. The rest of the time I will be working on the layout

Enjoy the day

It should be a nice day for all that Mike. While I miss using the pool I don’t miss the maintenance part

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 71°. No rain since Tuesday morning, but the next wave looks like it will hit around 10:00 or so. Forecast has changed, as it always does, with thunderstorms for just the next 6 days instead of 10 days.

Yesterday was a good day. The doctor appointment went OK, my contractor buddy and his helper got the plywood and missing framework back together on the train shed roof by mid-afternoon and the roofer covered the whole roof with tarpaper while we were gone for the evening. Contractor will be back Friday morning to finish the fascia, soffit and trim and the roofer hopes to have the shingles to do his part by Friday or Saturday. He had to order them. At least it is dried in for now. I fished more branches out of the pool, I thought wood was supposed to float??? It doesn't appear that there is any damage to it. I had the pool water tested at the pool place around the corner from the doctor and surprisingly everything is in close range. I'll need to add a couple of gallons of chlorine this morning, but that is actually less than the normal startup requirement. I stocked up back in March before everyone else thought about it, so I am good for about two months right now. Now besides ongoing cleaning, I just need the water temperature to rise some. If it was a bit warmer, I could get in and the cleaning wouldn't take long.
Not all was rosy though. We signed the contract for two new cell phones and slightly expanded data limits, but we couldn't wait for them to set them up yesterday! For some reason, we couldn't just leave our old phones with them to do the setup while we were at the doctor's office and return to pick the new ones up. One has to wait in their damn office!
We then went to Dallas to celebrate our two grandson's back to back birthdays at their favorite Italian restaurant. Ryan turned 15 on Tuesday and Conner turned 17 yesterday. Surprise, the restaurant is in a part of the city that still doesn't have power restored from Tuesday morning's storm, the same storm that flooded part of the train shed. We hastily were able to go to a different Italian place about a half mile away. My other daughter who lives nearby got her power back late Tuesday. Conner and Ryan's home did not lose power.

Life goes on here as close to normal as we can get right now. The weekly grocery trek will happen as usual, and I will drop my wife and the two phones off for the phone appointment while I do the shopping. I have to trim branches away from the propane tank, which is completely buried, since we were nearly out before the tornado hit. I will also be contacting the tree trimming service to take down the largest branches and trunks and get them on the ground. I could do many if not most myself, but there are just too many. I feel better letting the professionals do the ones nearest the house anyway. Part of the problem with either them or me, is the mud!

Sadly no news from the train shed. Other than to ensure that the fans were still working, I did not go in yesterday. I'm going out there before heading out on the grocery trek to turn the A/C on to remove moisture from the air, and assist with circulation.

Swal - I guess that I am not a normal American even though I am overweight. I do not eat at any fast-food establishments, except Whataburger about 4 times a year...never have eaten anything McDonald's in my life. I don't eat sugar or salt and rarely eat pre-packaged foods. I watch my carb intake pretty closely. Last night was an exception as I am a glutton for Italian food. I grow quite a bit of my own veggies organically, I just eat too much of them!

Everyone have a great day.

VLIX E-9A #4906, which has quite the storied history. The unit is Ex Amtrak E-9A #417(Acquired in 1971), Exx Union Pacifc E-8A #918(Acquired in late 1963), Exx EMD 'The Train of Tomorrow' Demonstrator E-7A which was built in 1947! The unit was never a New York Central unit, and received this paint after it was saved from the scrappers torch in the mid 80's.

I am soooo glad they saved this unit! I didn't even know that Union Pacific acquired this unit and renumbered it to 988! Wow!
