OK, furniture chaos is figured out.

Sis #1 called her minister, and he said, heck yeah, they always have underprivileged people, folks fresh out of work release, etc who need home furnishings. We just have to get the stuff to the church. They'll store it until it's needed in the community.

Sis #2 has a boyfriend with a decent truck. It will take four or five trips, but we can get'r done. Transfer on Thurs evening.
Then turn in apt keys on Friday

Once I got back home from the getting Mom ensconced in her new digs, I suggested good and gooey pizza. Wife didn't argue.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those with phone and plumbing issues

It's Troy again...

Mom is now safely ensconced in her Matilda the Hun reclining chair in her "nursing home"room. Two ladies from her former senior apartment wing are right across the hall. But one is moving into a single room.

Unfortunately the person we thought would be coming to get mom's old furniture (kitchen table & chairs, two dressers, sleeper sofa, and twin bed) backed out. No pace to store it.

getting a resale shop like Goodwill or Habitat for humanity out for a donation is either pricy (Goodwill min $100 fee) or three weeks away (Habitat)... My sister is calling her church to put word out that it's free but needs to be gone this weekend.

There is always something...
How about trying a Rescue Mission? We had one come out when we moved the MIL out of her house.

Good Evening

I was hoping that it might be something simple.
Willie - That happens to my wife's phone. - Those two buttons on the left side. Try pushing them each back and forth repeatedly/aggressively, many times. That's what the phone people did to my wife's phone. Now I do it too. Seems to fix it.

Huh My guessers showing a high of 22 & thunderboomers later in pm, 22 is about 6 degrees cooler than I prefer.
moermusic - I thought 18c was a normal summer day in Alberta. Anything above 20 is a scorcher. 28c is one of those days from hell.

That will bring about $75 at the recycle yard.
Willie - Does that mean stealing a fellas bathtub is going to start being a 'thing'!

I was working on my river crossing and bridge today.
The good thing about not knowing what you're doing, is that it's hard to know if you screwed-up, or not.
I've added sand to some plateaus on the left side, experimented with colour on the river, and began to paint the bridge. The bridge is primered grey:

To be seen if I can get more done tomorrow. But, I believe the wife has a new list.

Sherrel - I really do hope that chemo works out for you!! All the best to ya!

Have a wonderful evening!!

Morning all.

Halfway through the spring break holidays and I have to into work for the day, sit in a classroom, and be taught how to do my job (after 20 odd years) by someone who doesn't even do my job just so the government can give me a little plastic card (that I have never been asked for) which says that I know how to do my job.

Aren't government pencil pushers wonderful.

Morning, again.

Well, went to work, sat for an hour and was told that the company running the class hadn't turned up and no one was answering their phones so we could find out what was happening, so now I'm home again, what a %^%%%^Y&*pile of 💩

The only upside was that one of my colleagues had made sausage rolls for everyone, so I've brought some home for lunch. :)

Presumably you got paid?

Smudge That is one of those statements I do not know I like or what.

The company I worked for did exactly the same. Guys coming in with no idea, telling everyone how to do their job. The 'good workers' moved on elsewhere. I was one that told my Boss "Colour me gone."
The company closed down most of its depots shortly after.

Know the feeling, my industry is now bloated with middle managers (a.k.a. Line Managers) who are on half the salary of the people they manage and have never done the job those they are responsible for actually do. Dont get me wrong, they are all a nice bunch of guys, but seeing them try and tell people who have been in the job ten, twenty, thirty or more years how to do the job is a tad embarrassing.

Meanwhile, I was sent out by the good lady wife for some shopping and I wound up buying a Cadillac...

We have to do a CPC or Driver Certificate of Professional Competence every 5 years as mandated by the Government (AKA the EU in Brussels) which we are no longer a member of, but drivers who travel abroad are required to have it to meet the EU legal requirement.

The idea is that it keeps everyone who drives for a living to a certain standard of professionalism, the reality is, that it doesn't, you sit in a classroom and are told (again) everything you already know and can do in your sleep. But we have to sit through this, if we don't, we lose our license to drive anything bigger than a car.

To demonstrate how barmy it all is, on the last one I did 5 years ago, included a module on "roping, sheeting and fastening a load", wonderful, but I seriously think the 30-odd passengers that traveled with me would object to having a tarpaulin thrown over them and then use ratchet straps to secure them to their seats, yes, I was on a module for truck drivers, not PCV's (Passenger Carrying Vehicles), but it didn't matter, I attended the module and that still counted towards the 5 modules I had to do that year.

On a side note, the instructor on that module was more than annoyed with me when I kept pointing out inconsistencies with his presentation on various items such as the position of various straps and chains to secure loads as well as the wrong type of tarpaulins to protect a load, yes I really did know more than him, 12 years military service in the Transport Corp moving everything from rifle ammunition to tanks and missiles will do that to a man. :)

You need to find a different kind of passenger. There are definitely types that like some kinky stuff, and would probably pay for a bus ride like that. I just saw a write up on an upcoming Nudist cruise. I'm sure the bondage types probably have their own excursions.

You'll just have to ask your boss get you better charters. ;)
