Another Memorial Day! A time for thanks and reverence to all that made the supreme sacrifice!
I have numerous uncles, cousins, and their offspring who gave it all during WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm.

I have another meeting with Dracula today -- I hope that it comes out in my favor ad the Creatinine is down within limits; if it is not then not sure what road to travel. I will not know the results until I go for Chemo treatment tomorrow.

The wife's kitchen remodel is progressing slowly. The cabinets are in along with the sink (a slight snag there, a defective facet with no hot water). Oh how I wish for a good steak and trimmings.
The expense of dining out is beyond ridiculous.
P.S. I can only have very small portions of red meat (for now anyways)

Better run for now - later gator!

Afternoon All,

Started out the day with laundry and chores followed by about 2 hours in the train room dusting buildings, vehicles and train equipment. Tomorrow, I have to do some electrical work in the kitchen (replace GFI and possibly an outlet).

Sherrel- It's great to see you posting. Everyone is concerned about you. Good luck with the lab work.

Willie- Although I hate to see you have any damage it definitely could have been worse. It was good to see a single shot of your property.

Troy- Neat photos. The excursion train by me was shut down by the FRA over rail access.

Bill- Neat drawing.

David- Neat video. Is my assumption correct that US steam is generally larger than British steam (not talking about the monsters)? Is that actually your layout? If so, I've never seen that area of the layout.

Hughie- Good luck with the bath rehab.

TomO- No one will snitch on your breakfast choice. :D

Mac- Great photos.

I hope everyone has a good night.

And I've finally caught up.

Willie: Sad to see the damage, but glad all are safe. We had the local kids pets and stuff in the basement when it hit here after Saturday evening mass. It kind of fell apart between Wichita and here (Augusta).

Sherrel: Glad to see you're still around. As others said, we worry when we don't hear from you. Don't make us make stuff up!😁

So far, it's been a quiet day.

Seen a little bit of a storm myself in the late evening. It turned to be pretty dramatic and fast, strong winds and sideways blowing rain:

This is Covington, Virginia. Next picture when i turned around and the driving rain is already going through the eastern throat of the yard:

Good afternoon and its the day to remember those who gave their all for us.

NorthBrit - Enjoyed the video. Many years ago I traveled through the UK and Europe and really enjoyed not only seeing, but riding on many of them. There seems to be quite a lot of interest in reviving steam in the UK. The cat should get a flying lesson.

KriegslokBR52 - Great photos. Seeing those passenger cars brings back memories of riding on the Hiawatha of North Coast Limited when I was a kid.

Willie - You are so lucky only having the relatively light damage compared to others in your area. Hope you get electricity back today.

Sherrel - Hope the kitchen renovation gets done quickly. Dining out is not like it used to be.

Curt - When I get the time, I am going to have to find photos of your new layout. I really enjoy seeing your work.

I found a place to possibly set up a static display of some of my old railroad in a space maybe 6 inches tall above my TV set. I miss model railroading a lot and do watch videos of various layouts on YouTube plus at night is it's quiet, I can hear trains running on what sed to be the Great Northern line.

Took my girls for a ride to a place where they can explore and sniff around a new area.

Here are some more photos from the archives. Here are the girls. They love to ride.

We have power.:):):) Actually came back on about two hours ago. Since then I've been resetting clocks, adjusting A/C's, removing the array of extension cords from inside the house, resetting the tankless water heater, charging up all of the rechargeable stuff and starting the pool filter to start removing all of the debris from Saturday night's event. Sadly the pool was perfectly clear when I got the cover off and after I started adding water.

Swal, I had never seen that statue, it's magnificent! Thank you!

Louis I think that's a new statue in the paddock area. I've been to the track about 100 times and never seen it, but I haven't been there in about 4 years because of my wife's declining health issues. My wife. I and 10 others use to go on a 3 day mini vacation there. Golf / Track / Dinner / Saratoga Harness / Sleep. The next day Golf / Track/ Dinner/ Rock Concert / Sleep and so on. Their restructuring Bemont Park so that's why the race is at Saratoga this year.

More importantly though, do the trains run OK?

Have not dropped in for quite a spell. skimmed thru the last 40 or so pages of posts. Lots going on ! JUst put the appropriate icon for each post. Biggest thing I guess was the weather over the wkend. Wow. Havent heard the Texas boys mention Dallas/Edmonton hockey. I will - could be a long 7 game series.
I still wear my winter parka outside to keep wind chill off me (20 + C) My old bones need heat . Till next time. Night

Swal, I love horse racing and watching the horses run! Thanks for sharing these things with me.

From Wikipedia: "In the 1973 Preakness Stakes on May 19, Secretariat broke last, but then made a huge, last-to-first move on the first turn. Raymond Woolfe, a photographer for the Daily Racing Form, captured Secretariat launching the move with a leaping stride in the air. This was later used as the basis for the statue by John Skeaping that stands in the Belmont Park paddock."

This is worth posting again, thank you Swal!

Secretariat's run at the 1973 Belmont was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in any sport! "Big Red" was the greatest racehorse ever and the 1973 Belmont proved it!

These historic tracks are getting old and in need of some work. The Preakness stakes will be run at Laurel Park in 2025 and 2026 while Pimlico is being remodeled.

I saw pictures of your layout a while ago and thought it was a very nice layout. Here is something that will bring some memories:

This was in the middle of nowhere west of Spokane. Unfortunately i passed by during the weekday and they are only open on Saturdays.

Good morning!

AEROTRAIN_GM.jpg

GM AEROTRAIN
The Aerotrain was a streamlined trainset that the General Motors (GM) Electro-Motive Division (EMD) introduced in 1955. GM originally designated the light-weight consist as Train-Y (Pullman-Standard's Train-X project was already underway) before the company adopted the Aerotrain marketing name.
