Morning folks,

Miss a day and there is an alternate to reading a book. 48F, cloudy, an occasional rain drop. Yesterday was busy. Exchanged the snow blade on the Toolcat for the grapple fork and moved a bunch of slash left over from last fall's firewood cutting to a couple of central burn piles (less reclamation) and finally got the lawn mowed (hayed?) for the first time this year.

Ya, almost as bad as going from Des Moines IA to SLC on I80 - miles and miles of miles and miles - with big wind/snow!
Welcome to "Big, wonderful Wyoming". It could be worse and you have a projector two to work on in the middle of that stretch.

Hey Wyoming is a lot better than Nebraska (or Iowa). At least it goes up and down in an undulating way and you can see all the windmills. Nebraska is just flat corn. Plus I know when I get to Wyoming I am "almost" home.

Good Morning from the northern drought area.

Yesterday, the wife travelled to a greenhouse and purchased +/-10 new plants. She planted them around the front yard, outside of the deer fence. This morning she screamed out to me that the deer had come in and enjoyed a salad 🤣. All the new plants are gone!

While she was working to feed the deer, I was down at the layout trying to carve up my foam for the river canyon:
Bridge_05-14-2024 (1).JPG

Not finished carving yet, but, not exactly sure what I'm going to do now.?!?? - Might just apply stucco-patch as a coating over the foam. Or might apply plaster-cloth.
A sharp eye might spot the sasquatch exiting her cave in the photo. Hard to see until it's all finished and painted.
Also, I'm not sure what I'll do with that flat-top on the left. I was thinking of cutting a gravel pit into it, but, the juries still out on that one.
The fact is, I have no concrete plans for anything on this layout. It's just play and learn as I go.

Haven't seen or heard from Sherrel lately! Hope he's ok.

Patrick - Quit being mean to the bunnies and the kitties.
Troy - Hope you're mom is ok.
David - I don't know why those ships arn't top heavy and roll around in the water like a canoe. Seems like they are small compared to the size and fury of the ocean. They're pretty, but, you'd never catch me on one of those things.

Well , I'd better get at it! Have a wonderful day!!

One or two I could mention are 'drunken ducks' in any weather. I have seen them and stay well away from them. :D

As for the others I love the ocean life.

Howdy from NE Indiana. Took Joan for a ride this morning (her firt since knee replacement, went downtown to get my bib overalls from alteration. She called us by mistake and they were not done; at least Joan got out for the 20 minute ride. I am fighting a wiring problem that has been haunting me for a couple of years now. Trains do not run on my layout (I took out a big section of the layout) and since then nothing works. I installed 2 wires into my DB150 rail's out and straight into a 3-foot section of track. I checked the power with a Prose track tester and tried to run an engine. My DT402 won't recognize the engine, won't go into program mode or anything. I tried my UT4 won't work either...I discovered too late that I did not have a battery in it, so hopefully by putting a battery in it, I will be able to move something. Don't want to buy a new throttle, and I sure don't want to buy a complete system. Digitrax doesn't repair DT402s anymore, so I don't know if that is the real problem

Afternoon All,

Spent the morning doing chores then helping MOH get ready to depart tomorrow. Each visit to SC seems to be more involved like taking young trees with her. In the train room I dug out 2 signals to determine if they were worth mounting on the layout and the decision was, they are a no-go. Today and the rest of the week we have thunderstorms throughout the day and night.

Patrick- That's a lot of surgeries and wish you luck. I'm glad your supervisor's daughter is OK.

David- Welcome back. I hope you and Dawn had a great time. Nice layout shot. Like Dawn, I always said I used to get paid to go to sea, why the (fill in the word of choice) should I pay to go to sea? When Mom & Dad had their 50th the extended family went on a short cruise, and I was hooked.

Guilford- That tower looks amazingly close to the old Monster Modelworks brick tower. Interesting video.

Bill- Neat photo.

Troy- Good luck with the hearing aids. Sorry to hear about your Mom.

Willie- Nice job on the building and details.

John- Are you the same John from Railroad-Line Forum? I'm no expert but if you have verified your track has power, then the issue is likely Loconet connected. I would reset the DB-150, change the battery (if it has one), check the loconet cable to verify no breaks in the connections. The DT402 (R/D) has to have a battery in it to work or be plugged into a loconet panel such as a UP5. I believe the DT402 (R/D) also require a UR92/93 to operate remotely. I know the "D" version needs it but not sure about the "R" version since I have never had one. Hope this helps.

Guy- Your canyon is looking very good. I had to relook to find Mrs. Sasquatch. Surely your wife knew what to expect?

I hope everyone has a good night.

Curt, yes I WAS on the other forum; but I was sent to the principal and expelled from that forum over the weekend. Get's along well with others was always checked on my report cards.

Getting back to my DCC problem. Like I outlined I have connect the "rails out" wires of DB150 directly to a 3-foot piece of track...no other connections, just that piece of track. I tried to call up an engine on my DT402 and it would not work. It tried to program an engine; but I couldn't get in the programing function (I have reset my system to factory defaults). When I try to program an engine my throttle display say CVNo FN dAt according to my manual it should read CVNO Pg dAt. I can't get in to go into Pg (Program) it won't come out of FN function. Digitrax will not work on my throttle (to old), nor give me any adivice. Can I rule out DB150 command station? I tried the UT4; but I couldn't get anything to run on the 3-foot section of track. I hooked up a DC throttle and the engine worked fine. I don't know much about DCC and can't afford to buy a new throttle if that isn't the problem. Any suggestions?

I have shown the orange and green wires from the DB150 going straight to a 3-foot section of track. The main "Rail out" connections are not connected. the 2nd photo shows a Prose track power connection. The 3rd photo shows the known operatable engine. The last photo shows my DT402. I have hit every button on the throttle and cannot get it out of Fn. I try progamming but it still reads the same. Should read Pg. The loco select does not work. Cannot get it out of Fn...I just realized my photos and descriptions are backwords...so bear that in mind. I just hooked up a dc power supply to it an the engine ran great. I hope I have ruled out the DB150. thanks for any help

You haven't seen the more rough Nebraska. Whenever i travel through Nebraska, it's never boring. Coming from the east you can jump on the US30 and stay within an earshot of Union Pacific mainline. Many many miles, route 30 goes along side of it and i have paced a train along side in my car. Going through towns there are oldies but goodies standing near the mills in the form of classic diesels. But you have to take time to see it, it's worth it.

John- Just verifying that when you push the program button on the throttle it remains in Fn mode?

Also, have you tried 00 and 03 as an address?
I have pressed the program button over and over again and it will not get out of Fn mode. I have tried selecting a locomotive and it will not let me select any number. I cannot select the left hand engine; but this morning I could. I cannot select any locomotive number on either the right or left throttle

Your throttle will only work when plugged into the command station. No radio feature to it.
Tip your throttle so you can look across the top of the buttons and look for one that may be partially pushed in and cockeyed. Sometimes a button will get like that and nothing else will work until ya release the stuck button.
