Good evening all. Back from our holiday. Did a 'ships wash' today.

Whilst in La Spezia, Italy we met our dear friends.

'Arvia' in La Spezia the ship we travelled on.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with Crapola, Other crapola, or any kind of deification crap.

It's Troy again...

Rain is moving in today, so I'll be inside most of the week.

today is HEARING AID day. I get the new $5K hearing aids. We'll see if this tinnitus tech makes much of a difference.

Realized I needed to make some bases for my manticore-riding-orcs, so I 3D printed some plastic bases of the appropriate size, and dug around in the terrain prints bin. Found some Lava field rocks that were "weak prints" - that happens when the bed is out of level, or the filament is too humid. The print gets weak. I snapped some point bits off the top with little pressure.

So, I filled the inside waffle structure with Hot Glue (adding strength to a weak structure), attached them to the plastic bases, and added sculptamold.

I will hit these with primer today, and hope to get them painted up. Then I'll glue on the monsters.... er... orcs on Manticores. And, since these are part of the Swift-Orcs Pop-Star Touring Show, they'll have to be blinged out with sparkles of some sort.

Back is OK today. Those little twinges where I step or twist wrong are decreasing in occurrence. I just have to be very careful to not overdo.

Well started second week of new job yesterday. Few thunderstorms last week came through. Drying out sorta this week.

To answer someone’s question (sorry don’t remember who), yes my work is related to my woodworking hobby. I’ve been in woodworking my entire life (cabinetry, building and restoring horse drawn vehicles, furniture, etc).

My job is to set up and operate a molding machine, so I make all kinds of trim, base, crown moldings. Hardest part is setting the machine up, have to be within a couple thousandths. Which can be frustrating at times but it’s a good job, 4 days a week (10 hour days) it pays the bills so I can enjoy railroading and other hobbies I have.

Have a great day today everyone and hopefully the weather gets better for some of us. Grass is getting tall and chores are stacking up.

That would be me. That roll-top desk that you posted somewhere is an absolute work of art. Best of luck with the new job and the new home. Good to have you aboard.

And so much for the hearing aid visit.

Mom fell on the way to the bathroom. That's an automatic trip to the ER. It's my day to drive the 1.5 hours and break her out.

Sisters and I are talking about assisted living/nursing home for her. She's too unstable. And her heart and kidneys are both on the way the out, unfortunately.

Morning all,

52° and clear this morning. Didn't sleep worth a crap last night, so running on empty this morning. Had to do a password reset late last night (well late for me) and find the person had issues at 4:30is this morning and wasn't going to call me. Not sure what's going on yet. She isn't back until 10:00p tonight.

Week is half over when I leave tonight! Still getting the timing on the 4 10 hour days. Garden I though was doing well, but the peppers and corn are getting chewed up by something. I suspect the "wild" rabbits. only wild because they don't belong to anyone. You can almost pet them before they run away from you. Can't hunt them in town, but I so want to get rid of them and the feral cats. 5 cats run the neighborhood and 2 have collars.

Troy: sorry to hear of the troubles with your mom.

Good Morning All. Clear and 59°. No rain in the past 36 hours but it is still in the forecast for Thursday/Friday. Then on Saturday it will warm up into the lower 90's for the foreseeable future.

Mostly a wasted day yesterday, with the dental hygienist visit smack in the middle of things. I did not manage to preserve any of the veggies that are taking up a lot of space in the fridge, hopefully this morning. I did pick some onions from the garden, but only enough to tide us over for a couple of days. There's a bunch ready but I need to wait for the ground to dry just a bit before really getting after it. They should be OK for a couple of days. Tomatoes, Green Beans and Squash are just waiting for a bit of sunshine before resuming growing.
I need to start pumping the water off the pool cover so that I can begin the process of removing it and getting chemicals right for the expected warm-up beginning this coming weekend. If I remove the cover tomorrow or Thursday, the water temperature would normally be up to a usable level by 5-25; that is if I have generally sunshiny days. Sunshine on the water heats it up much better and faster than warm temperatures.

Most of my time out in the train shed yesterday was spent running trains again. If I could keep my hands off the throttle, I could get a lot more scenery work done. I did do some work on the Merchant's Row III structure. I decided to break up the yellow coloring monotony by painting the upstairs restaurant doors a dark green. Then I added a stop sign on the corner (although only the back is visible from the aisle), and added 12 figures.

Looking at these pictures makes me think that I still need to add a couple more in the front left side.

Tom O - Have a safe trip to Vegas today.
Terry -
I’ve made that drive, and several others, over the years. The thing I didn’t care for was it was nothing but miles and miles of miles and miles.
Here, I can head west like that and still be in Texas after an 8 hour drive!
Troy - Isn't the umbrella underneath the shade canopy a bit redundant??? ;)
Uh oh! Good luck with Mom. Seems like when it rains, it pours.
Curt - I am looking forward to a little rain relief, but that relief comes with a lot hotter weather.
Patrick - Good luck with the upcoming surgeries.
Mike - While it wasn't the same storms that hit me, they went east over LA, MS and AL; it was probably the same system as it moved east across the Midwest. Hopefully you survived unscathed.
David - Welcome back from your holiday.

OK, everyone have a terrific Tuesday.

The overlap with the umbella and canopy is only about a foot once the Umbrella is up. That wall of the garage gets a LOT of sun once it clears the top of the condo. I can tilt the umbrella around to block the sun when we want to lunch or dinner at the table.

Mom has a UTI, pretty nasty one. She passed out and woke up on the floor this morning and had to crawl to the doorway and call for help.

Other sister is checking on nursing facilities for her. That will be a fun conversation.
