Good morning. A cloudless Arizona morning with temperatures heading into the high 80’s.

The golf for real starts today. Yesterday we played 27 holes and it might have been my worst golf in 20 years. Today along with 79 “friends” we play the next 3 days for real. I tee off last at 11:30 or 5 hours from now!

Enjoy the day.

Morning folks

What an impressive aurora borealis last night when I took the canines for their nightly stroll at 12:30 am. When I first opened the door (which faces due south) my thoughts were those are some strange, high, wispy clouds but a look to the north left absolutely no doubt as to what was occurring with the classic green and purple extending almost over head. Unfortunately, I wasn't having much success changing the settings on the Sony A6000 to get any decent photos-something about dark, no glasses, and old----

Another cloudless morning, 41F with a forecast high of 71. There remains about 6 inches of snow but that will all be headed down valley today.
I bet that was absolutely gorgeous!

That's defiantly a bucket list item to go somewhere where I can view them in person.

Supposedly, once in a while conditions are right that they can somewhat be viewd from Northern Illinoi, but I've never been able to see a glimpse of them.

May 10 and I had to wear my heated vest on the back 9 yesterday. I guess tomorrow it's going to be 38 at some time, Maybe another heated vest day. When can I put away my winter clothes?

You guys have had a cool crummy spring so far! Is this typical for the East coast, or is this an anomaly?

We have had a very wet spring, but at least the temps have been somewhat decent.

Hope the weather improves.

Have a great Saturday and a wonderful weekend. Did you ever notice that on a North American calendar, Sunday is actually the week-beginning, not the weekend!

The Jewish calendar also has Saturday as the 7th day (the jewish Sabbath). It's Christian (and Jewish) tradition that Sunday is the beginning of the week based (for the Christians) on the Resurrection of Christ being the "third day" (Friday/Sat/Sunday) and coming to be known as the Lord's Day. With the jewish calendar having the last day of the week on Sunday this made sense.

There were reports from people in the South seeing them. These were supposedly seeable from many parts of the US from what I read. I did not see them though supposedly they were visible. I forgot until after the fact.

Afternoon All,

Started out the day with a walk at 74F and very damp air from the overnight thunderstorm. After breakfast there were animal chores then vacuuming the pool, after that some inside chores. Nothing in the train room today. We are going out to Mother's Day supper tonight at a fish and chip place that MOH and daughter like.

Patrick- Hope everything works out with your shoulder.

Bill- Very cool looking diesel that isn't modeled much.

Troy- I'm glad you're feeling better.

Guy- Interesting photo. Every place has its weather downside. I'm respectful of hurricanes but tornados scare me.

Willie- Interesting longhorn photo. I totally understand about the wife wanting something then we have to take care of it. Very nice guard rails.

Swal- I admit I only watched half of the video.😔

I hope everyone has a good night.

Normally never visible this far south, but many local folks have been posting pictures on the local Facebook page of last night's display. I had better things to do, sleep, dream!!! Wife who was up and looking, was either looking in the wrong direction or had her timing off.

Good Afternoon All

Need to go out and sit on the tractor for awhile. Ya, plenty of liquids included.

Went out for a bit almost light - posted more in CtcLibbyPix but this one caught my eye. 2 NS on the lead! Ya don't see that very often around here.

Y'all have fun!

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those who aren't talking on the radio today,

It's Troy again.

Here's my morning:
ball.jpg

No, I don’t play tennis, this is my back muscle recovery tool set. Between arthritis, weak core muscles, and pulling various lower back muscles I need to stretch each morning. And putting the ball under the back, and laying on it to press it up into the sore spot helps break up the “knot”. No way I could have done that on the day of the pull, but it does help.

When I could tolerate the pressure, I started leaning agains the wall with the ball right against the sore spot, and rocking side to side, pressing it in. That helped when I could do it. I've graduated to laying on the yoga mat, doing some leg stretches, and once warmed up, sliding the t-ball under the back. Much more pressure on it when prone. Keep it above the pelvis and OFF the spine.

I went to the game store yesterday for our monthly second Saturday gaming day. With it being Mother's day weekend, it wasn't just light attendance, it was only me. But, we never know who might show up.

So, I had a table set up, just in case, and tanks with me... Not as entertaining as Christian's Dragons, but, here you go....

The green felt are "woods" and would keep the tanks from view. Since the kitties are "pounce" predators, the sherman commanders don't spot them.

Form line and haul arse through the countryside... Gerry is gonna be surprised when we show up!

Gerry says "Surprise!" three different ways...

Mike I can only remember 3 days it's been warm here since last November. It's cloudy here every day. I see the same weather pattern every week. Clouds form up down around Tennesse and end up over southern NY a few days later. I play golf about 5 days a week now and my golf bag is full of things I need to stay warm with. I really want to move south. Maybe Myrtle Beach.

Good Morning All. Happy Mother's Day if you're a Mom. Here it is cloudy and 62° with a 100% chance of rain around 10:00 am. Wasn't supposed to rain yesterday, but Mother Nature fooled the NWS with something last night. Wasn't enough to register in my rain gauge, but the Weather Underground around the corner shows 0.02". Radar right now shows scattered showers across a lot of North Texas and Oklahoma so it may be hit or miss. Otherwise the high today is forecast to be only 70°, after 80° yesterday. That will be determined by whether or not the sun appears.

While it isn't dry, I was able to put the rest of the t-posts in the garden to support the Tomato cages. Now I just need some sunlight and warmer weather to make the plants grow! I cut the remaining Broccoli side-shoots and removed those plants and also the remnants of all of the Lettuce plants. I picked 8# of Green Peas which I will process and freeze today. That will make 12-14 servings for later use. I will pick more this morning before the predicted rain.

Also on tap today, I will be dicing up a 4# pork shoulder to dry marinate overnight to make Carnitas tomorrow. I don't anticipate any yardwork besides picking the Peas in the garden

I got a little work done on the layout project yesterday out in the train shed. I installed those guardrails and applied more ground foam.

Moving further south I installed a sidewalk and more ground foam, still quite wet with glue in this picture.

Over on the workbench, I made a few additional minor repairs to the Town Drugs structure prior to adding a couple of details and figures. That structure didn't fare real well on it's journey from Chet's Logan Valley. Nothing that couldn't be fixed though.

Swal - It appears from those videos and others that I have seen from Jaw Tooth from LaGrange, that townspeople seem to be quite used to those trains. In many cases they appear to play "chicken" with the engines!
Put away the winter clothes??? Heck, it is still blizzard conditions in Montana where Grizzled lives.
Mike - It's been a wet Spring here as well, but temperatures have reached into the upper 80's and lower 90's one day this past week. Lots of mosquitos. Fortunately they don't seem to land on or bite me, they just buzz around and are annoying. But, they really like my wife so I have to listen to her complain about them.
Todd - In all of my years of train watching, I have only seen NS engines in this area once. And they were on the point of a KCS train interchanging with an ATSF (at the time) train at the nearby Dalton Junction, now known as Krum Junction by BNSF.

Everybody have a great Mother's Day. Honor her whether she's still around or not.
